A forced evolution (3rd part)

’So, how should we resolve this problem? You got any idea?’

[Why don’t you let them pass through first? I mean, you remember what happened that day, right? The spider back then didn’t have any wounds.]

’True, let try it out.’

After a short discussion, they ended up choosing that the bodyguard would be the one to try first. And this time I didn’t participate in the discussion since I could come and go whenever I wanted from that door.

"So did you finish deciding who will go first?"

"Yes, Mom, we opted for the guard to try first."

"Okay then, wait here for a moment while I open the door."

I said as I walked closer to it and put my hands on it.

As I punched it open, I asked something of [Global Wisdom].

’Now that i think about it, did we not destroy this door?’

[Indeed i was surprised to see it back in its original state.]

’I imagine this is how all the dungeons works.’

[Not all of them do, but many do work like this.]

’Oh, really? It is quit interesting; maybe later you can tell me more about it.’

Once I completely opened the door, I nodded to the guard to pass through. At first he hesitated but eventually started walking slowly towards me, but he stopped right in front of the doorframe and didn’t move anymore. Losing my temper, I lightly pushed him with enough strength to make him walk right through the door, regain his posture, and avoid the most embarrassing fall of his entire life.

"This is why I dislike arrogant fakers."

I said in a low voice, but it seemed the guy heard me because he stared at me, but he didn’t dare to say anything; after all, he knew well I was right.

"It seems like we can pass without any problem."

Rose exclaimed in a happy voice before walking through as well, and like the guard before, she didn’t get injured. So the only one left was...

"Eris, don’t you want to come out?"

I said as I noticed how excited she was; out of nowhere she started running as if she was escaping from prison and regaining her freedom. Well, it was indeed like this.

"So, let’s review what we are going to do now."

"Alright!"

The objective of this trip was to go to the lungs and find the effective heart of the snake.

The one I found at the palace was just the heart of the dungeon and not the one of the snake. So it was imperative to find it before I completely assimilated the orb.

"I don’t know what kind of monster or if we will even meet some in the first place, so always be on alert for everything.

"Understand!"

"Yes!"

"..."

"Alright, then let’s get out of these ruins."

"...Mom, where are we going now?"

"We are heading to the sea of stomach juices. I thought I could fly, Willie, holding you since we were supposed to be in three, but now I think I will have to plan things out a little bit more."

"Is that a big problem?"

"Not really; I will improvise in the moment."

As we walked through all the ruins, I noticed something was different: some of the walls were completely intact.

’What is going on here? This is not how they were supposed to be. Not only has the area in which I fought the spider wave completely recovered, but now the walls are starting to adjust themselves. This is why too suspicious.’

[You are right. It may sound out of place but i think it has something to do with the orb but i’m not completely sure about it.]

’Why so?’

[I think the orb was stealing the energy of the monster here to maintain itself to some extent that is why we didn’t meet any monster when we came but now that he is gone.]

’We may encounter some monster, right?’

[Well, the possibility is still there.]

’Personally, I cannot say i find this a problem since i didn’t fight for over a month now.’

[It will be good to asses how strong you currently are.]

’True, but not only my strength but also rose and eris aswell the trouble boy.’

Once we were closer to the sea, I decided it was better to rest there for the day and continue the following one.

’I am so bored.’

I thought as I was on my night watch. Since I was the only one able to stay up all night while eating, I suggested everyone go to sleep and leave me on the night guard, but I never imagined it would be so boring.

’Hey [Global Wisdom], can i ask you something?’

[What is it?]

’What will happen once i completely absorb the orb?’

[Most probably you will undergo a forced evolution.]

’How so?’

[You know that there is a ranking among angel as well.]

’Really?’

[Otherwise, why did your [Fallen Angel] level up?]

’You’ve a point. In what will i evolve this time?’

[I don’t know; after all it’s the first time you have become an angel.]

’True, hmm?’

As I was having my discussion, I noticed that somebody was up. I thought it would be the bodyguard, but instead it was Rose. I took a look at the guard, and he was sleeping like nothing might happen. How pathetic.

"Rose, is everything alright? Why are you up so early?"

"Usually we maids must wake up this early. Compared to the other, I woke up one hour late."

"I see it must be hard."

"Sometimes it is."

’Wow, this silence is so awkward that i mai die!’

"Lady Nyx, may I ask you something?"

"What is it?"

"Are you and Lady Eris planning to leave this place?"

"Yes, actually I still have a lot of things to do out of this place, and I stayed still for too long."

"I see... When will you go?"

"Maybe in two weeks or in one more month, I don’t know precisely."

"Will you leave us behind?"

"...!?... Ah, now I understand why you’ve been looking so down recently. You heard me and Eris talking about it, right?"

Rose nodded her head in confirmation the moment she did, I burst out laughing.

"Hahahhaha!"

"W-what do you find so funny?"

"How can I not after what you just said?"

"Why? It’s serious."

After I calmed down a little, I explained why I found it fun.

"Oh lord, it’s been so long since the last time I laughed so much. Did you take a moment to think about it?"

"What do you mean?"

"If we wanted to leave you all behind, we would have done it already by destroying the palace core or simply going our way without saying a word."

"...Ah."

After realizing the situation, Rose turned completely red, and I started laughing again."

"You are so adorably funny."

"Please don’t tease me too much."

After finally calming down, I also told Rose the reason for this trip.
