Reincarnation in the 60s: My Spatial Supermarket Brings Forth Wealth
Chapter 303: Preparing the Banquet
CHAPTER 303: CHAPTER 303: PREPARING THE BANQUET
"Hahaha..."
"Hahahaha..."
The room erupted in laughter. Lin Yun laughed so hard she couldn’t close her mouth, even Zhang Ting, who had been pouting angrily, couldn’t help but laugh.
"Xiao Feng, you really are something... Hahaha! Well, Second Sister will find you a bride! A bride that’s one in a million!" Lin Yun laughed until her belly hurt, patting her little brother on the head.
"Second Sister, I only want Xiao Hua, I don’t want a one-in-a-million bride!" Lin Feng lifted his small head, speaking earnestly to Lin Yun.
"Who is Xiao Hua?" Lin Yun was curious. This little guy was only three and already had a girl he liked?
"Second Sister, I know who Xiao Hua is! She’s in the courtyard, our friend! Seventh Brother, do you want to marry Xiao Hua? Then I can help you! Second Sister doesn’t know Xiao Hua, but I do!" Lin Cai strained to climb down from the chair and ran over to Lin Yun.
The serious expression on the little ones’ faces made everyone laugh again; these two little cuties were just too adorable.
"Alright!" Lin Feng nodded seriously.
"Alright, you two little rascals! Sit down quickly; it’s time to eat!" Lin Xia picked up Lin Cai and placed her back on the chair, still smiling.
After a few months apart, these two little ones were even cuter.
Lin Xue smiled as she returned, instructing the little ones to sit properly. The elder’s table had already started clinking glasses, so they could start eating too.
Today, she prepared home-cooked meals, also featuring some specialty dishes from the north as well as seafood, which was particularly delicious. This was food made by Lin Xue, and there wasn’t a single family member who didn’t love it.
Lin Cuifen, along with Zhang Ting and Zhang Yang, were the ones most conquered by this meal, eating until they were stuffed. Seeing the old lady drink two glasses of red wine, Lin Cuifen hurriedly spoke up.
"Mom, let me stay and take care of you. Since you’ve had some red wine, it might be inconvenient if you need to get up at night!"
She spoke sincerely, and she also saw that the Lin Family’s conditions were a lot better than the guesthouse, which made her contemplate staying on.
But how could the old lady not see through this? She waved her hand, "You all should return to the guesthouse to rest, Cuihua is here, and so is my granddaughter-in-law, no worries!"
"Yes indeed! I can take care of her just fine! It’s a long way for you in-laws, you must be tired, rest well! Don’t worry!" Wang Cuihua quickly added. She truly hadn’t realized that the guesthouse conditions weren’t as good as her home nor what they may be up to with this suggestion, but Lin Cuifen bit her teeth in anger, thinking this woman was out to oppose her.
"Alright then! Just be sure to let us know at the guesthouse if there’s anything you need!" Lin Cuifen, with no other choice, had to adjust her hair and reluctantly said that.
"Of course, though nothing will happen. Just rest easy!" Wang Cuihua nodded promptly.
Lin Daliang also nodded by the side, thinking that the in-laws were quite alright, at least they knew how to show respect to elders, even if a bit difficult to get along with, but respect for elders shouldn’t be an issue.
If he knew what Lin Cuifen was thinking deep down, he might have even considered giving her a kick.
Zhang Ting and Zhang Yang were also a bit reluctant to go back, and Zhang Yang looked at Zhang Yu, who was staying behind, feeling a bit resentful.
"Second Brother, let’s switch, I’ll stay here, and you go to the guesthouse!" Zhang Yang spoke to his second brother from above.
Zhang Yu usually let his younger brother have his way, so his brother often spoke to him in this commanding tone, which he got used to. But this time, he didn’t want to yield.
He wanted to have a good talk with his eldest brother. Ever since he was young, he’d loved being near his eldest brother, but never really had the chance, as his eldest brother was always at their grandparents’, rarely visiting their house, and left soon if he did visit.
Whenever he went to his grandparents’, their mother always found some reason to bring him back, so he rarely had the chance to stay around his eldest brother.
Later on, it got worse; his eldest brother was either not at home or halfway through sent to the countryside, leaving no chance for him to have a good chat.
"Yes! Xiao Yu, let your brother stay, you go to the guesthouse, or let your brother share a room with you!" Lin Cuifen, knowing the conditions here were better than the guesthouse, was now trying to figure out a way to let her son stay.
"I’m sharing a room with my big brother!" Zhang Yu knew that their mom’s favorite was neither his sister nor himself but this fifteen-year-old clueless brother, so he didn’t bother to discuss much with her and simply told her the fact to dash her hopes.
With the level of annoyance Xiao Yang caused his sister-in-law, his eldest brother would not let him stay, let alone share a room with him.
Sure enough, after hearing this, Zhang Yang obediently walked out without making a fuss to stay.
"Hurry up and leave!" Zhang Haijun murmured viciously in Lin Cuifen’s ear, then walked out with his hands behind his back.
Lin Daliang and Wang Cuihua saw everyone off and watched Zhang Haijun, who didn’t even speak a word of farewell as he walked out. Both of them tacitly said nothing and just watched the family walk out of the yard, turning around to go back inside.
Zhang Yuan and Lin Xue ignored them. At this moment, the two were already discussing the banquet’s arrangements.
Lin Xue wanted to design her own dress. Time was short, and the task was heavy, so Lin Yun was called into the room, along with Lin Xia. The four of them discussed together.
The wedding date was set, the betrothal gifts had been given, and now all that was left was preparing for the wedding. The bride’s side was relatively simple; it was mainly about setting up tables and inviting relatives and friends for a meal. In the village, when a daughter is married off, important relatives are invited over for a meal, and the next day, the bride is sent off. They don’t host big banquets.
However, after discussing with Zhang Yuan, Lin Xue decided to hold a banquet back in the village as a way for the Lin Family to bid farewell to the villagers. Lin Xue decided she wanted to take her family to live in the Capital City, so there wouldn’t be many opportunities to see the villagers in the future. This was a good excuse to host a meal for them.
The next day, after breakfast, they headed to the village.
"Wife, there’s still six days until the banquet, plenty of time. But, the thing about taking your family to the Capital City needs to be carefully discussed with your parents and grandmother, see if they want to go with you or not? And about Xiao Yun, her partner is here, is she going or not?" Zhang Yuan and Lin Xue returned to the village, preparing to tidy up the house and get a fire going for the banquet arrangements later.
When they came, the little ones all wanted to follow. They brought the two brothers along, and the sisters were busy making new wedding outfits for them, which Lin Xue designed. Lin Yun couldn’t take her eyes off them when she saw it, and Zhang Yuan handed over the good fabric he brought with him for her to make the outfits.
Lin Xia had to go deliver previously ordered clothes, everyone was busy, and thankfully Zhang Haijun’s family didn’t insist on staying over as the old lady stopped them, otherwise, with Zhang Ting and Zhang Yang’s tendency to make trouble, the house wouldn’t have had any peace.
"I know; I’ll talk to them about it tonight when we get back!" Lin Xue nodded.
She was mainly there to observe, as Zhang Yuan and the two brothers wouldn’t let her do anything.
As they were talking, Lin Shan ran in with a slightly overcast expression.
"Elder Sister, Uncle Gangzi is here, and Third Uncle as well..."
With just one sentence, Lin Xue raised her eyebrows. She hadn’t seen these two in a long time. Ever since their family moved to the town, even Grandma Bai had been quiet; it had been a long time without hearing about them.
