Reincarnation in the 60s: My Spatial Supermarket Brings Forth Wealth
Chapter 307: Engagement and Wedding Together
CHAPTER 307: CHAPTER 307: ENGAGEMENT AND WEDDING TOGETHER
"Big sister, brother-in-law! Give me a year, and once I’ve completed high school, I’ll find Yun’er on my own! I won’t make her wait long! I appreciate your kindness, but I can’t accept it. Accepting it would make me feel ashamed in front of Yun’er. A person who needs others to plan their future doesn’t deserve to stand by Yun’er’s side! I believe we can endure the test!" Sun Bing’s words caught Lin Xue and Zhang Yuan by surprise.
But it also pleasantly surprised Lin Xue—only a man like this is worthy of her sister Lin Xue.
Zhang Yuan solemnly patted Sun Bing’s shoulder, his eyes full of approval.
He could easily arrange something good for him, but in doing so, Sun Bing would never overcome the chasm in his heart, truly, as he said, it would make him feel inferior.
"Xiao Yun, what do you think?" After affirming Sun Bing, Lin Xue asked her sister.
"Big sister, I trust Sun Bing, I’ll give him time, two years even, I can wait! And we can endure the test! Let him follow his heart!" Lin Yun calmed herself and felt a moment of pride for having such a significant other.
"Alright! As long as both of you have decided! Do you want to hold your engagement ceremony together with ours?" Lin Xue asked with a smile.
"Together? Can we, big sister?" Sun Bing was the first to get excited. He had been worried about how suddenly things came up, making him feel caught off guard.
"Of course you can! You go and talk it over with your family, and we’ll arrange it together. Just know it has to be done in the village, getting from your town to the village is quite a hassle!" Lin Xue nodded.
Originally, the engagement should be held by the groom’s side, but if Sun Bing’s family agrees, it can be done at the bride’s.
"Alright, alright! I’ll go and tell my parents right away!" Sun Bing was about to run off, then turned back to Lin Yun and said, "Yun’er, after making the attire for big sister and brother-in-law, we’ll have to make a set for ourselves too!"
Without waiting for Lin Yun to respond, he ran off and soon disappeared.
Lin Yun blushed, but it seemed like she didn’t have time to be shy anymore; she needed to hurry back and start making the clothes.
Consequently, the initially melancholic pair each busily began their tasks with delight.
Turning attention away from them and over to Lin Xia; while her second sister was out, she tried to enjoy some leisure but was soon harassed by Zhang Yu.
Minding his own business here and feeling bored, Zhang Yu often kept his grandparents company, but when they wanted to rest, he would come out.
Noticing a sister who looked sixty or seventy percent like his sister-in-law, he couldn’t resist approaching her for a chat, although Lin Xia didn’t want to engage with him.
After all, she had heard that among brother-in-law’s several younger siblings born to different mothers, none were any good, and she didn’t want to waste her time talking to them.
Unexpectedly, this thick-skinned person followed her wherever she went, constantly finding topics to chat about, so much that she had no choice but to listen, like an incessant buzzing fly.
In the end, Lin Xia couldn’t do anything but hide in her room, but could she really escape the eyes of her mother, Wang Cuihua!
Busy as a bee, Wang Cuihua saw her daughter avoiding chores by staying in her room and promptly went in to drag her out. Lin Xia had no choice but to listen to Zhang Yu’s ramblings for an entire afternoon.
When she didn’t respond, he would keep talking on his own, sometimes telling stories, or conducting quizzes where, if unanswered, he would answer himself. Lin Xia had to admire how he could have so much to say.
Lin Xue and Zhang Yuan went to find Wang Cheng. After deciding on a chef, they ran to a few other places.
On their return, they brought back quite a bit of good wine and tobacco.
Wang Cuihua was so happy she couldn’t close her mouth. Everything seemed complete... or was it? Wait, they still needed wedding candies.
So she hurried off again to the supply and marketing cooperative, only to find it closed.
Early the next morning, she waited at the cooperative’s door. As soon as it opened, she was the first to run in and bought out all the candy.
Lin Xue, unimpressed by the cooperative’s candy, got some from the supermarket, finally feeling satisfied.
As for Lin Daliang, upon learning that his eldest daughter wanted to take them to the Capital City, he and his wife discussed it, heading out the next day to resign from their jobs. However, the dairy plant director, Chen Danian, saw how diligently he worked and was reluctant to see him leave, ultimately offering him the job’s quota, saying he could pass it on!
Lin Daliang returned home and gave the quota to his wife, explaining that he didn’t have any relatives who needed to inherit it—he was the sole sibling!
His closest younger brother also had a job, his sister-in-law was doing well at the chicken farm with the team, and his eldest daughter had joined the textile factory; the other children were too young, so he left it up to Wang Cuihua to decide.
Wang Cuihua was quite pleased, feeling that her husband had finally come to his senses and stopped thinking about those who had wronged them, which delighted her greatly.
In the end, out of ideas, Wang Cuihua approached Lin Xue for advice on whom to give the quota to.
Lin Xue knew her parents were constantly changing and were no longer pushovers. But given their inherent nature, they still hesitated when making big decisions, so she didn’t make it hard for her mom and gave her suggestion.
"Mom, over the years, the team leader has taken good care of our family. Every time Grandma Bai came over to bully us, and we went to him, he always helped out. Plus, I get along well with Wang Xuehua. If we give this quota to the team leader, I think it would be fitting!"
After hearing her daughter’s words, Wang Cuihua was quite emotional.
"Indeed! Back then your grandma—no, she would come every few days to trouble us, taking food and goods, and just thinking about it now is frightening!" She said, stepping forward to pat Lin Xue’s hair, "Now it’s all good, she doesn’t dare to provoke us anymore, your grandma was such a dear person..." After a bout of reminiscing, Lin Xue brought her back to the topic at hand.
"So, mom, when you and dad go back to the village tomorrow, deliver this job quota then! Aren’t you going to discuss the banquet arrangements with the team leader? Two birds with one stone!"
Wang Cuihua nodded, seeing that her daughter didn’t want to dwell on the past anymore, she dropped the subject and stood up, "Mom’s going to sleep now! Are you hungry? Want mom to make you some noodles?"
"No thanks, mom. If I gain weight, the wedding dress won’t fit well!" Lin Xue stuck out her tongue in a bit of a playful tease.
"Such a child, already about to get married and still acting spoiled with your mom!" Wang Cuihua spoke, her heart feeling a slight pang.
After all, soon her daughter would be marrying off, becoming a part of another family, which must be hard for a mother.
Then again, thinking about how she’d still be nearby, there was a bit of comfort in that notion.
The next morning at first light, Lin Daliang and Wang Cuihua cycled back to the village. Once all the planned invites and arrangements were completed, they went to the team leader’s house.
The team leader’s wife was stunned and in disbelief when they presented the job quota.
The team leader also showed signs of amazement, but after hearing Lin Daliang explain that their family would be moving to the Capital City with their eldest daughter and had resigned from work, with the gracious director passing the quota on to him, he quickly gathered his composure and gratefully accepted it. But when the couple saw several of the team leader’s sons and daughters-in-law rushing in, they wondered if they’d made a terrible mistake?
Would giving away this job quota cause the team leader’s sons to squabble amongst themselves, would that stand as their misdeed?
"Don’t worry unnecessarily! If the team leader can manage the entire squad, he surely can handle his sons, right? Impossible otherwise!" On their way out of the team leader’s house, Wang Cuihua reassured her worried husband.
