CHAPTER 43: CHAPTER 43: HEAVENLY DESTINY 3

Zhang Yuan listened to the assistant’s words and looked at Bai Xue. Bai Xue gave him a slight nod. Although Zhang Yuan was full of doubts, he obediently closed his eyes.

After a while, the expression on Zhang Yuan’s face changed from puzzled confusion to great shock, then to insight. Watching Zhang Yuan’s changing expressions, Bai Xue couldn’t say she wasn’t worried.

She didn’t know what exactly the assistant had done to him, but it was certain that everything had been explained to him clearly.

When Zhang Yuan opened his eyes, Bai Xue was staring at him, lost in thought.

"Xiao Xue, what are you dazing off for? Are you happy that I’m actually your Heavenly Destiny?" Zhang Yuan playfully tapped Bai Xue’s nose and asked with a smile.

"Not disappointed, at least..." Bai Xue stubbornly didn’t express how genuinely happy she was.

"No matter what you think, I’m delighted. Finally, I’ve secured you and won’t be plagued by the fear that you might back out and not marry me! You know, yesterday afternoon when you said it’s just an engagement and the future is uncertain, it felt like a slap to my heart!" Zhang Yuan said.

"Shouldn’t you have been happy first because you acquired such a department store, rather than being happy I won’t refuse to marry you?" Bai Xue’s heart was truly blooming with joy, even if she pretended otherwise.

"Yes! Because to me, only you are the most important. Money and other things are insignificant in comparison!" Zhang Yuan firmly said, holding Bai Xue’s shoulders with both hands.

"What did I do to deserve this... Alright! Have you learned how to enter the supermarket space?" Bai Xue asked, quickly changing the subject after only one self-deprecating remark.

"I know everything now! I also know that the day I saved you was the day you truly returned. We are destined! Besides, saving your life and marrying you as repayment sounds perfect!" Zhang Yuan laughed.

"Repaying a life-saving act with marriage depends on whether the rescuer is a handsome man!" Bai Xue playfully squeezed Zhang Yuan’s flawless face as she spoke.

"So it turns out my looks attracted my little girl. From now on, I’ll have to take good care of this face! I just heard from the assistant that there seem to be some skincare products here. I should give them a try someday as your husband!" Zhang Yuan joked with Bai Xue.

"Stop rambling! Let’s hurry out! We still have errands to run in the town today! Don’t be late! It’s hard to travel when it gets dark!"

"Alright!" As soon as Zhang Yuan finished speaking, Bai Xue pulled his hand, and they appeared next to a bicycle.

"Girl, honestly, this supermarket space is truly miraculous. As someone who never believed in ghosts and deities, even I have to believe a little now!" Zhang Yuan looked around as the cold wind whistled by, reminding him that everything earlier had indeed happened.

"Try requesting to enter the space!" Bai Xue spoke up after standing still.

"Okay!" Zhang Yuan agreed and, as the assistant had taught him, communicated with the system using his thoughts. Soon, a knocking sound echoed in Bai Xue’s mind, and after agreeing to enter with her consciousness, Zhang Yuan disappeared from sight.

But shortly after, Zhang Yuan reappeared, as he could come out freely as long as he didn’t take any materials from the supermarket.

"Let’s go! Let’s head to the town. A few days ago, I delivered two pounds of tea and haven’t collected the money yet! Also, we need to visit Chen Qiyue’s house; her grandmother got injured, so we should check on her!" Bai Xue said, urging Zhang Yuan to ride the bike.

The two of them pushed the bicycle onto the road and rode towards Pingyang Town.

Once they arrived at Pingyang Town, Bai Xue no longer hid things from Zhang Yuan, and the two of them directly rode to the State-Owned Restaurant.

By then, it was already meal time. Wang Cheng was busy, and Bai Xue hadn’t eaten enough in the morning, so they decided to find a table and sit down. Today the restaurant was offering braised pork, so they ordered two bowls of rice, a portion of braised pork, and a serving of stir-fried cabbage.

The waitress immediately recognized Bai Xue and, when it was time to pay, as Bai Xue was about to fetch something from her pocket, Zhang Yuan handed the waitress four ounces of food coupons, half a pound of meat coupons, and cash.

Bai Xue didn’t insist and let Zhang Yuan pay. The food was served quickly, and they ate slowly.

The braised pork here was delicious, though it had too much fat. Bai Xue couldn’t eat fatty meat, so she only picked at the lean meat, ate a bowl of sorghum rice with the stir-fried cabbage, and then put down her chopsticks. In the end, Zhang Yuan finished the whole plate of braised pork.

In these days, getting to eat meat was a rare treat. State-Owned Restaurants only offered meat dishes on certain days, such as Mondays and Sundays. The rest of the week, meat dishes weren’t available.

After they finished eating, Bai Xue wasn’t eager to leave. There were more people than usual, and she waited until everyone got their dishes. Then she saw Wang Cheng rushing out of the kitchen.

She knew that the waitress must have informed Wang Cheng of her arrival. Seeing him so worried, she understood the urgency—whatever she had provided wasn’t enough, and someone was pressing him urgently.

"Girl, you finally came! You really had Uncle Wang worried sick!" The moment Wang Cheng reached them, he quickly said, but upon seeing Zhang Yuan sitting next to Bai Xue, he fell silent and sat down across from them.

"Uncle Wang, this is my partner! One of us!" Bai Xue introduced, "Zhang Yuan! This is Uncle Wang, the chef at the State-Owned Restaurant!"

"Xiao Yuan! It’s been days since you last came. If it weren’t for the braised pork today, you might not have visited either?" Wang Cheng evidently knew Zhang Yuan and started chatting familiarly, "But I never thought this girl was your wife!"

"Uncle Wang, don’t I have a good eye?" Zhang Yuan’s tone was obviously proud.

"It’s good! It’s really good!" Wang Cheng nodded continuously.

"So you guys have known each other for a while?" Bai Xue asked.

"Xiao Yuan has helped me in the past! You could say we’re friends across generations! Plus, every Monday and Sunday, he comes over for a plate of braised pork!" Wang Cheng chuckled as he spoke.

"Oh, I see!"

"Xiao Yuan, you two are really impressive!" Wang Cheng added another sentence.

"Uncle Wang, we’re not married yet!" Bai Xue reminded.

Noticing Zhang Yuan enjoying it, she gave him a gentle push.

"True, true, Uncle misspoke!" Wang Cheng didn’t mind and laughed it off.

"Uncle Wang, I came today to ask if the items I gave you last time have been sold?" Bai Xue asked quietly, not wanting more idle chatter and getting down to business.

"Girl, they weren’t just sold! I’ve been practically cornered by people at my door, unable to get out! Do you have more? Please help out your uncle!" Wang Cheng said exaggeratedly.

"Uncle, this isn’t the place to talk. Once you’re done, let’s find somewhere to chat!" Bai Xue quickly stopped him.

"Alright! Let’s go! I’m done here!" Wang Cheng said as he got up, "I’ll grab something!" He rushed into the kitchen and quickly returned.

"Xiao Xue! Let’s go to my place to talk!" Zhang Yuan timely suggested.

"Your place? You have a house in Pingyang Town?" Bai Xue asked in confusion.

"It’s rented, convenient for handling some things! Very discreet!" Zhang Yuan explained briefly.

"Okay! Let’s go to your place!" Bai Xue made the decision.

Wang Cheng had no objection and followed them to Zhang Yuan’s rented courtyard in Pingyang Town.
