Rejected Luna: Untamed Desire Of The Lycan Alpha
Chapter 358: Stop With The Fuss
CHAPTER 358: STOP WITH THE FUSS
"How dare you—" Noah jumped back to his feet again. His voice was loud enough to make the entire room shake. His eyes flashed wolf, and his hands were so tightly clenched that he looked like he was about to jump right onto Tracy and take her down with him. And well, Tracy? She looked bored. So bored that it honestly made Inez feel pathetic, much less Noah, who was the one being stared at.
"Do you think you can scare me like that, huh? Raising your voice doesn’t mean that you are right, and I don’t like it when people raise their voice at me." Tracy stated, looking at Noah and Mister Jones, who was getting back on his feet. "It’s bad enough that after mistakenly throwing a person in prison, you have dragged them into attending a meeting, but what’s even worse is that you are wasting time by snarling and howling. That girl needs some serious medical help because of you motherfuckers’ mistake. So get down off your high horse, capice?"
Silence stretched taut in the air.
Finn cleared his throat and stated in a quiet voice, "Well, she did say that Inez should be treated first."
At least one of them had the brains to look at the situation properly.
"You all might be willing to duck your head and ignore the problems of the world, but I will let you know that’s not how it works. No, sir, it does not." Tracy continued, focusing her attention on Inez, who looked back at her. "The world is in shambles, and you need to get your arse out before things become even tougher from here on out. You think it’s funny that you keep on pushing the obvious on this and that? The killings that happened? That was all because of the witches and the wizards. Your egotistic self might not be willing to accept it, but it’s the truth. And I will put it right here: that murder you are putting on top of Inez’s head? That was done by none other than the frantic of a witch."
"The evidence sits right inside the cell, as you have already seen. You can deny it all you want, but there is a limit to how much you can ignore." She jabbed a finger toward the seething shifter. "And it’s overwhelming just thinking about how much you can ignore even when it’s happening right in front of your eyes. I mean, how can you? Are you going to turn a blind eye to the sorry excuse of the hollow that was left behind as the only remnant of the dark magic performed? Or are you going to turn it around into something else and blame it on a poor bloke? Maybe a vampire and tell everyone that it was the work of those blood-sucking creatures?"
Noah’s eyes widened as if this was the first time someone had put him in his place, and given how satisfied Killian looked, he had no qualms watching someone else bear the brunt of Tracy’s fury.
"I never... I never said that I was going to do that—"
"Oh, but you sure as hell look like you are doing it." Tracy scoffed with an exaggerated eyeroll. "You saw what this lycan heir brought along with him, and yet you demanded Inez be put through this trial. And it’s not even a proper one. I am sure the rest of the elders of the council, including Alpha Remy, would ask for her presence in another trial much more serious than this one, and I have no idea what to even make of that."
She waved her hand and dismissed whatever Noah was going to say and continued, "You want me to believe that this is going to be the end? Of course not. You want me to expect that this is not done due to the sheer hatred that you have for the lycans you have? Of course, I am not going to believe it. You knew that she was his mate, and you deliberately dragged her here. Look at her; she is about to faint, and you and your colleague have not asked one single question that I can count as more urgent than sending her to a healer."
Killian slowly turned to look at Noah, his eyes flashing wolf as if he had received the very confirmation that he had been waiting and looking forward to. "You brought my mate on purpose? You wanted to hurt me through her. Is that what you were playing at now?"
When Noah didn’t speak, he moved to his feet. "You have three seconds to explain whether what this witch said is the truth or not? Or else it will be your head on the ground." He growled.
"Okay, enough with the threats." Tracy glanced at the man. "Because, one, you cannot kill him, and two, even if you are upset, think about the condition of your mate. Try to finish this meeting before she faints, you pea brain."
Killian paused and turned to look at Inez.
"We are leaving." He never wanted to come here, but he had to hand over his report to Seth in person to avoid Inez being dragged into the prison cell again, and that was the only reason he came here.
"No, you are not." Dominic was up on his feet again. His eyes fixated on Inez as he stated, "You are not taking her away."
Killian brought Inez in his arms and glanced at the man behind him. His eyes flickered with a sheen of annoyance, and he stated, "I am taking her. If you have something to say, then we will talk. But not right now, and if you have a shred of guilt for what you have done to her, you will not chase after us. Not now."
Dominic opened his mouth, no doubt to contradict or threaten him but Killian didn’t listen to him. With one last look at the head of the council, he marched right out of the room.
