Rejected Luna: Untamed Desire Of The Lycan Alpha
Chapter 361: How can I forget?
CHAPTER 361: HOW CAN I FORGET?
Dominic took a step forward, his eyes fixated on Inez as if he couldn’t see the mark on her neck. But then again, many alphas were blind to fault. Unless they wanted to see, and unfortunately, for the majority of the time, they don’t see a thing.
"Step back," said Killian as he stepped in front of Inez. His lips were curled in a snarl as he stared right in the eyes of the alpha, who seemed to have some unwarranted feelings towards his mate, something that he neither liked nor appreciated.
"You cannot command me." Dominic’s eyes flashed wolf as he snapped back at Killian, causing the temperature of the room to rise and the scent of gunpowder to scatter in the room.
"Of course, as an alpha, I cannot, but as Inez’s mate, I can."
Tracy winced the second Killian finished speaking those words because that very second, Dominic’s eyes snapped to the mark on Inez’s neck, and the sight of the mark seemed to have sucked his very essence dry. The man staggered backwards, and for a teeny, tiny bit, Tracy felt sorry for him. Ah, no. Forget it; she didn’t feel sorry about him at all.
"You are not her mate," Dominic spoke through gritted teeth, and Inez, who had been trying her best to ignore the man till now, finally raised her head and looked at him. Her mind had been so wrapped around the events that had taken place in the prison dungeons that she hadn’t paid much attention to Dominic. Once she snapped out of her daze and came to her senses, she felt a rush of anger as she jumped to her feet. "Says who?" She asked, feeling a tad bit – no, a lot – annoyed with the sudden appearance and disruption.
She raised her head and met Dominic’s gaze head-on before stating, "Who are you to tell me that he is not my mate, Alpha Cherith?"
She felt sick and disoriented, but Inez also didn’t like Dominic’s assertive attitude; he spoke as if he had some sort of right over her when he didn’t.
"Inez—"
"Don’t," Inez interrupted. She knew what the man was going to say, what he was going to do and what he wanted to tell her. "You rejected me. Since you have done that, it’s on you and not me. I did my part, Dominic. You cannot expect me to hold on to you. I won’t do it... I cannot do it, not when you caused Nia so much pain that she is neither alive nor dead."
"You heard her." Killian’s voice turned firmer as he continued watching the man in front of him, making sure that he wouldn’t get close to Inez in any way possible.
Dominic sensed Killian’s gaze, and his expression morphed into sheer rage. The raw emotions on his face made Tracy’s face scrunch up. She had to admit that this was a true clusterfuck. There was something truly fucked up about the sheer vulnerability of mates towards one another. When it came to their mates, they just didn’t have enough brain cells to rub together.
Inez rose to her feet, and so did Tracy as she realised that the situation was spiralling more and more out of control with each passing second.
"She is mine," Dominic breathed with so much intensity that Tracy gagged and by the look on Inez’s face, it seemed like she was on the verge of throwing up too.
"The mark on her body says another story," countered Killian.
And then the two men were moving toward one another with single-minded focus, their arms raised in the air.
Right on cue, Tracy lunged between the two of them. The idea of throwing herself in the path of two angry alphas was bad to begin with, and acting on it was even worse. The second she launched herself between the two men, she was squashed between the two of them. Their chests squeezed her from either side, and for two seconds, Tracy was trapped between the two men.
All three of them froze then and there.
Their faces, which were contorted with anger, turned shocked and swiftly changed into one of revulsion. Tracy was sure that her expression was mirroring theirs.
"What. The. Fuck." Killian’s voice came out strangled as he stepped back, wiping his front as if he had touched something untouchable.
Dominic stepped back as well, his expression just as disgusted as Killian’s.
Tracy rubbed her arms, trying to get rid of as many germs or lice as she might have gotten after touching these two mutts. "Unless you want Inez to be held accountable for the destruction that you two might bring on this building, you’d better keep your fists to yourself. Do you understand?"
Killian looked like he had been slapped on the face. He turned and looked at Inez before saying in a low voice, "Fine, I am only going to let this slide just this once."
Inez, the sorry traitor, was now laughing. There were tears hanging in the corner of her eyes as if she was amused by the very sight in front of her. Which she was.
"Oh dear... your faces... you—" she paused just as she noticed Dominic’s softening gaze and cleared her throat.
Killian glared at the man before turning to look at Inez. He softly said to her, "Sit down; you are injured, and we need to deal with your wounds." He shot Dominic another glare and a sneer. "With your wolf gone, you will have a hard time healing with these injuries if you do not receive proper treatment."
Dominic flushed red in shame as he turned and glanced at the woman who was looking anywhere but at him. His heart sank along with his wolf’s as he realised that the woman who once looked at him as if he were the very soul of her world. And now the same woman was no longer looking at him.
