CHAPTER 43: CHAPTER 43: ARE YOU GOING HOME WITH HIM?

Ye Tong looked bewildered, not understanding why the topic suddenly shifted to going to Nanling next week, but Ji Ning didn’t seem to want to explain.

"Sister Ning..."

"Xiao Tong, come over for a photo." Sister Meng called her, so Ye Tong had to stop asking questions.

Li Tao’s dinner party stayed lively until after ten in the evening before it gradually dispersed.

Ye Tong shook her phone and replied with a smile, "Called a taxi."

Sister Meng gestured a house call and left with a bunch of friends first.

The film base is far from the city, and this late it was impossible to get a taxi, so coming to pick them up was Bai Xiaotang’s new driver, who was still ten minutes away.

Ji Ning raised her eyebrows, glanced at the gaze looking from inside the car, then looked at Ye Tong, "Are you going home with him?"

Ye Tong realized something was wrong, quickly looked toward the driver’s seat, and found that it was indeed the man who disrupted her affairs earlier in Director Lin’s room, getting a scare, she stood up in a hurry and hit her head hard on the car top, "Ugh... hissing—"

Ye Tong couldn’t care about the pain, holding her head, she wanted to get out of the car, panicking as she apologized, "Sorry, sorry, I got the wrong car. My apologies..."

She merely glanced at him and then looked down at her phone.

Feng Lei slightly frowned, pondered for a moment, then stepped on the gas, starting the car.

From the back came Ye Tong’s sporadic cries for help and the sound effects of the game.

"Sister Ning, there’s an ambush ahead, I’ve been hit in the arm," Bai Xiaotang’s voice screamed from Ji Ning’s phone, quickly followed by Ye Tong’s scream, "Sister Ning, help, I’ve been hit."

Feng Lei pursed his lips, recalling the female voice he heard earlier.

Bai Xiaotang? The Bai Family’s fool?

There were rumors in the circle that the Bai Family fool intended to enter the First Military Academy and went to the countryside for some inspiration. Because of this, the Fu Family had plenty to say, seemingly wanting to call off the engagement with the Bai Family.

Ye Tong reluctantly pressed the answer key and heard Lin Yuanyang’s voice, "I’ve been tracking Uncle Chen’s car, it hasn’t moved, what happened?"

Ye Tong quietly explained everything, Lin Yuanyang replied, "Give the phone to Sister Ning."

Ji Ning glanced at the phone handed to her, raised an eyebrow, Ye Tong quickly placed the phone next to her ear.

Ji Ning couldn’t take the call now, for the quartet’s last chance of victory, Ji Ning must hold out until the end.

Ye Tong awkwardly smiled at the gaze from Feng Lei through the rearview mirror.

Feng Lei didn’t say anything, pulling the car over to the side.
