Return of the Legendary Runesmith
Chapter 181 - 180- Impulsive
CHAPTER 181: CHAPTER 180- IMPULSIVE
"Agh..." With a groan, the black-haired transfer student slowly woke up.
It took her a moment, but she managed to open her eyes and realize where she was.
The infirmary. Her second time here since joining Runebound.
"How are you feeling now?" came a familiar voice from the left.
She turned her head and saw the Headmaster of Aegis Academy sitting nearby.
"Headmaster... why are you here?" she asked, her voice rough and dry.
He handed her a cup of water and said, "Came to check on you... and to take you three back."
Elizabeth paused, uneasy. "Did Headmistress Ariana tell you to bring us back?"
She feared Ariana had already told him about the incident with Adrian. If that were true, she might have no say in the matter.
But the Headmaster shook his head. "No. She left the choice to me. That’s why I spoke to Emi and Tony first—then came to you."
Elizabeth raised her brows. "And what did they say?"
He sighed. "They left the decision to you. Said whatever you choose, they’ll go along with it."
She wasn’t surprised by that.
Leaning back against the pillows, she said, "If it’s alright... I want to stay here."
The Headmaster looked clearly surprised. "What do you mean? You were the only one injured during the ambush, and those Acolytes were after all three of you. There’s a good chance they’ll come again—with a better plan and a stronger force."
Elizabeth sighed. "Sir, the path we’ve chosen will keep throwing us into danger. Again and again. And didn’t you say yourself that Runebound has one of the best security systems in the world? Not to mention, the person guarding this place as the first line of defense is the seventh-ranked Warden."
Her words made the Headmaster frown.
"What happened in just a few days that you’re suddenly defending Runebound?" he asked.
He knew Elizabeth well—especially her usual pride and sharp tongue. Hearing her speak like this about the academy felt... off.
Elizabeth lowered her gaze. "I met a few people here who made me realize how big this world really is. I used to see things through a narrow lens... but they helped me understand that I still have a lot to learn."
The honesty in her voice—and the humility—unsettled the Headmaster more than he expected.
A moment of silence passed before he finally said, "If you truly believe staying here will help you grow... then so be it."
But then his expression turned stern as he added, "Just remember—Emi and Tony look up to you. Their safety is in your hands now."
Elizabeth gave a firm nod.

"They didn’t leave?" Adrian was shocked—genuinely surprised.
After everything that happened—including the one-sided beating he gave Elizabeth—he thought the Headmaster would’ve taken them back.
"It seems the students chose to stay here, despite all the mess," Ariana said, her voice carrying a hint of unease.
Adrian looked at her, puzzled. "Isn’t that a good thing? I mean, they stayed even after the ambush. That should send a positive message to the Capital and the other nations, right? That even after the attack, they still trust us?"
In Adrian’s eyes, the three had just silenced those ready to blame Runebound—including Valmora.
Ariana nodded. "I know their decision works in our favor, but... because of that, I couldn’t bring myself to expel Elizabeth."
Adrian let out a soft "Ohh," finally understanding why she looked so conflicted.
Getting up from his seat, Adrian sat on the table, just before her, and cupped her cheek.
Ariana looked up and said, "Why do I feel like I always prioritize my role as the headmistress over your lover? Can’t I be selfish a few times and use my power to punish those who hurt you?"
Her eyes expressed the agitation she was feeling toward herself at the moment.
Adrian softly spoke, "You are being sensible and that is a good thing. We aren’t impulsive teenagers who make a decision and then regret it later."
Ariana shook her head, "Still...sometimes I feel I couldn’t do anything for you."
Adrian chuckled, "You are overthinking this. I was upset with Elizabeth but I punished her. And Ruby compensated me as well. That’s why, it’s okay now."
Ariana asked with an upturned gaze, "And what if she misbehaves again?"
Adrian grinned, "Then you might become a little impulsive."
Ariana smirked. Well, she surely would.
That smile or her soft skin, he didn’t know but Adrian leaned forward and rested his lips against hers.
Ariana wasn’t expecting the kiss but she didn’t pull away and closed her eyes.
Her fingers slid into his hair as their mouths moved together, slow and searching. Then his tongue flicked against hers, teasing.
Ariana responded, meeting him with her own. Their tongues touched—tentative at first, then bolder. The kiss grew hotter, messier, full of hunger and heat, until they were lost in each other, tasting, gasping, and wanting more with every breath.
They parted for a moment, their breathing ragged and forehead connected.
Ariana’s hand reached to his crotch, rubbing his stiffness as she asked, "Do you want to?"
"But your injuries..."
Ariana grinned, "Then you have to do the labor today. Will that work?"
Adrian shrugged, "You know I’d love to."
Ariana hummed and got up.
Adrian slid his hand inside her shirt, tracing his fingers on her belly as he asked, "It’s not a safe day for you, is it? And we don’t have any protection either."
"But I don’t mind though."
Adrian was baffled as he looked up, "Aria...you...are joking, no?"
Ariana’s brows elevated, "You don’t want to have a baby with me?"
Adrian nodded, "Of course I want to have a lot...but are you ready for this? It will hinder your work, no?"
Ariana pushed him on the table wordlessly before straddling him.
Planting her bountiful butt on his hardening manhood, she moved her waist, making him groan as she said, "Let’s take our chances today. If I get knocked up, so be it."
Adrian didn’t know what was different today, but he barely believed he would be able to control himself.
