CHAPTER 214: CHAPTER 214

Celena’s POV Recently, the "rash dog" in my body had shown up significantly more often. Especially when Jacob came into my view, it was as restless as a... Well, a dog in heat. It was just like going back to those days when I was deeply attracted by him. The difference was that I was trying to gradually let go of things about Brett. Brett’s body seemed to have vanished into thin air, with no clue at all. I can only guessed that it was his father, that hunter Carl, who took him away, but there was no evidence at all. And I didn’t want to recall him either, because it would be a nightmare. After all, his face always appeared along with the syringe. Maya and Rose had been spending more time around me lately. They say they were here to keep me company and cheer me up. But I could sense the resentment in the twins Jim and Dave’s glances, their dating time had clearly been severely cut short. Still, having friends to talk to is genuinely a happy thing. Lily guided me during training, the witch sisters chatted during breaks, Jacob occasionally showed up, and the wolves stired because of him... Life suddenly felt full and lively again. Sometimes, that middle-aged woman still appeared in my dreams, recounting that ancient tale about witches. But I still lacked the courage to confront it. It was a world entirely unknown to me, one that instinctively filled me with dread. Maybe... next time we all went shopping together, with Lily and the others by my side, I would muster the courage to ask her at that shop. Lily’s POV When Maya and Rose found me looking dead serious and brought up the suspicious smell in Celena’s room, I was genuinely shocked. It felt like... another suspenseful drama was about to begin. I swear, when I burst through the door, I was only worried about Celena passing out. I didn’t notice any smell at all. Besides, a werewolf’s scent can be masked with a special potion. But they insisted Celena couldn’t possibly have that potion herself. Plus, a sturdy young werewolf passing out from a hangover just didn’t add up. She wasn’t the weak, obedient little thing she was when she first arrived. Eventually, they convinced me. I agreed to secretly investigate with them and find answers. But on one condition: we couldn’t tell anyone else. Especially not Celena,we couldn’t tip her off. "No big deal," I tried to lighten the mood. "We just gotta be careful." Then, my daughter Elora’s fuzzy little head popped out from under the blanket on the nearby couch. Her big eyes blinked as she said, "Mommy, I’ll keep the promise too!" That darn little pest! She’d been hiding and eavesdropping everywhere lately, apparently Jacob had been playing hide-and-seek with the little ones and corrupted her! We exchanged helpless glances, then crouched down to sternly tell Ailona she absolutely couldn’t tell anyone about this. "Not even Daddy?" she asked, pouting reluctantly. I warned firmly, "No! Especially not Daddy!" Then I saw her little mouth pout so wide it could hold a bottle. Fine, maybe the pack Alpha has a right to know... I muttered to myself, then sent him a mental message. Soon Ethan pushed open the door, followed by Jacob! Damn it! I only said I wanted to talk about Celena! "Hey," Ethan said with an air of entitlement. "Jacob is her mate. He has a right to know." Jacob nodded vigorously beside him, his eyes brimming with urgency, as if he sensed that between him and Celena, it felt like they were just a hair’s breadth away from breaking through that last thin barrier.
