CHAPTER 20: KEISHA

Alisha stepped back when she realized Mylo was about to hang up on the call. However, when she turned to leave, her head hit a hard object.

"Were you eavesdropping on Mylo just a second ago?" She heard Dante ask.

Alisha rubbed her forehead in pain, half wondering just how much Dante worked out as she stared hard through his suit, and half wondering how he was able to sneak up on her once again without her hearing his footsteps.

This was the third time and she wasn’t even able to catch even the lightest noise. It pissed her off.

"Oh really now?" Mylo asked, putting his phone in his pocket as he gave her a scrutinizing look.

"I was looking for Dante, but didn’t know where he went with your father. Everyone was suddenly gone so I decided to come out here only for me to hear your voice, speaking to someone on the phone," she explained calmly. Besides, there wasn’t anything new she’d discovered from Mylo’s call to whoever he was speaking with.

"How am I sure that I can believe you? For all I know, you might be a spy that my brother picked up from the side of the streets," Mylo remarked.

’Again with the street name? Can’t they call me something else?’ She couldn’t help but wonder.

"I don’t care if you believe me or not," she answered.

Mylo glared at her hard, before looking up at Dante who was already glaring at him.

"Watch your wife, Dante. This is her first time here and she’s not making quite the impression," he spouted before he left.

"What did you hear?" Dante questioned, looking down at Alisha who merely scoffed at his question before taking three steps away from him when she realized that they were standing way too close to each other.

"Why are you getting all defensive like I heard something I shouldn’t have heard?" She questioned back, a smirk on her lips.

Dante rubbed his face in frustration. He’d only arrived a moment ago after speaking with his father when he’d seen her standing right behind Mylo, listening to his conversation. How much she’d heard, he wasn’t sure.

"You should loosen up. But why don’t you do that by telling me how much you’ve found out about my sister?" She asked, changing the subject.

After signing the deal with Dante, she’d given him the last picture she had of her missing sister so he could come to his end of their bargain.

"She had a big scar on her face in that picture. My men weren’t able to find anything. It’s possible she got plastic surgery to get it removed," he said, heading towards the car as dinner was over.

If he stayed any longer, he might have to deal with Jennifer.

"Getting a scar that big off her face would cost money," said Alisha.

"Which leads to thinking she was probably adopted by a wealthy family," Dante concluded.

Alisha frowned while deep in thought.

Her family’s house had caught on fire, only for her parents to sacrifice themselves so they would be able to save Keisha and her. But they got separated when Keisha had been adopted before her. Unfortunately for Alisha, she wasn’t able to see the faces of the family that took her sister away, else she wouldn’t be here with Dante in the first place.

"You don’t have to worry. I’ll find your sister," he said as if to reassure her.

Alisha gave him a look but didn’t say anything. There were several wealthy families in Lexora, talk more of other cities and countries.

It would take a while especially if her sister managed to get her scar off her face because that was the only way Alisha would be able to recognize her.

She sighed as the thought of her sister being close but unable to recognize her hit her.

"I’ll take your word for it," she replied.

The ride back home was as silent as a graveyard.

Neither of them fought anymore, but that didn’t mean they were friends enough to bring up a topic and chat.

After arriving home, Alisha simply went back to her room without giving Dante another word. He stared at her back as she ascended the stairs, his gaze lingering on her body that was adorned by her dress.

He wondered if giving a compliment on how it suited her perfectly was going to make him sound weird. Biting his teeth, he just watched her leave.

Alisha returned to her room, exhaustion hitting her like a boulder falling off a cliff. This was the first time in a long time she’d ever felt so exhausted.

Her thoughts went back to what had happened in the cafeteria earlier that day.

If someone had intentionally slipped something into Hex’s food, it only meant that they intended to have her eliminated.

Alisha wasn’t surprised at all. She’d been in a situation like this before when she’d just been starting out as a model.

Everyone was hungry for the spot, and they would do anything to get it. But who could it be?

There were a lot of girls there, so there were a lot of suspects. Alisha couldn’t help but think of Katherine as a suspect too. She may already be a top model, but there were chances she could be replaced if a better potential was found.

Alisha took her phone to make a call to Maxine.

"I need you to find some kind of dirt on Katherine. Anything at all," She said.

Maxine got out of her bed, high on alert. "Why? What happened?"

"I have a feeling she’s up to something. We have to be ready to use anything possible against her," Alisha explained.

Her only revenge had been to get her revenge on both Katherine and Nathan, but she would be the one to take care of Nathan when the time was right.

However, she wanted society to look down on them to the extent their names would be heard as a crime.

"Got it."
