CHAPTER 59: PRESS CONFERENCE

It took great difficulty before Katherine was able to enter the Veila building as enraged fans were ready to throw rocks at her. Thank God she was protected by the security.

Her blood was boiling in rage while her mind ran one hundred miles per hour, trying to think of a better way to get out of this situation.

She didn’t see Nathan before leaving. She’d left him several texts that morning and phone calls, but he didn’t respond to the texts or bothered to return the calls.

All the girls were giving her a nasty look as they turned to whisper to each other before returning to reading the comments out loud.

Katherine found it pathetic. If only those comments were against Alisha, then she would have loved it. But it wasn’t.

"Katherine, Megan wants to talk to you," Allison, Megan’s manager said, giving Katherine a judgmental look.

Without another word, Allison turned to leave while Katherine followed right behind her.

Reaching the office, Katherine found Megan’s head buried into her phone with a scowl on her face.

It didn’t take two to guess what she was probably reading.

"What do you want to talk to me about?" She asked, gaining Megan’s attention.

"Have you seen what you’ve caused on the internet?" Megan questioned, her tone cold.

"I didn’t do anything," Katherine immediately defended. "All I can say is Alisha photoshopped me into that video just to taint my popularity."

Megan couldn’t help but scoff. "Still the liar I see. If Alisha did such a thing, then it must be because you’ve had something against her in the first place. I saw that video clip of you pushing her off the stage but chose to ignore it, and now, netizens are accusing you of getting Alisha beaten up as your way of revenge."

"I didn’t get Alisha beaten up," Katherine said, deadpan this time. She would say everything and anything, as long as she didn’t admit to her misdeeds as it would be digging her very own grave.

Megan scoffed. "You don’t have to lie to me, Katherine. It seems to me you’ve forgotten who you’re talking to. You’re a desperate person who would do everything just to get what they want."

Katherine went pale.

"Veila is being dragged into your mess because of this problem you’ve caused. I don’t know why you despise that girl but couldn’t you have found a better way to solve things?!" Megan yelled before she could stop herself. She took a deep breath to calm herself, her fingers interlocking as she looked at Katherine. "The media is asking for one thing."

"And what’s that?"

"You should apologize to Alisha," Megan replied. "I’ll be holding a press conference today for that so get ready."

"What? You expect me to apologize to that woman when I didn’t do anything to her?" Katherine asked, unable to believe her ears.

Her day was already ruined with the video of her infidelity gaining traction on the internet, Alisha was still alive, and now, Megan expects her to apologize to her.

"You don’t have any choice in this, Katherine. After all the accusations, this is the least you can do or you get cancelled."

Getting cancelled was not something that Katherine expected so soon. Only a year—it’s been only a year she managed to get everything working in her favor, and now? She was about to lose it all.

Her nails dug into her skin as her skin itched to claw at Alisha’s face.

"You should get going. I can handle this," Alisha said to Dante who didn’t intend on leaving Veila any time soon.

"I’m staying with you until we get home," he said for the nth time. "Katherine’s fans arr outside, and what if they manage to evade the security? Your life could be in danger."

Alisha cocked an eyebrow at him. There were at least ten security guards at the entrance stopping the fans and he thought they could pass them so easily?

She resisted the urge to facepalm her face. She gave up on asking him to leave. He could stay with her as much as he wanted. He was a billionaire after all, and he had people who could handle his businesses for him.

Allison came and informed Alisha about the press conference and asked her to get ready.

By ready, she didn’t mean for Alisha to change her clothes, but to be careful of what she said in front of national TV.

After all, she was still a rookie.

"I’m sorry. The press conference was decided at the last minute and I didn’t write down anything you might need to say," Maxine said, rummaging through her bag for a pen and paper as she scribbled things down.

Alisha could only stare at her with a smile.

When she was done, she handed Alisha the piece of paper to practice on. Only a few words were written down so it wasn’t difficult for Alisha to learn them in such a short period of time.

Five minutes later, everyone was present in the press conference room.

A good number of reporters were present with their cameras and microphones, ready to record every single word and action.

Both Alisha and Katherine were seated across from each other. One had a little smile on her lips with a calm and collected posture, while the other was as stiff as a rock, her eyes darting from one place to another.

Dante and Maxine were seated at another corner as Dante’s cold gaze swept across the room, memorizing every reporter’s face in case they asked an obtuse question.

"We’ve come today to clarify the ongoing chaos occurring on the internet right now," a reporter said, gaining everyone’s attention while camera shutters flashed here and there. "Katherine Cross, are the videos uploaded about you on the internet true?"

Katherine’s eyes narrowed at the reporter with the bald head.

She took a deep breath, keeping everyone on edge.

"No, they are not. Everything was orchestrated by Alisha De Rossi," she replied.
