CHAPTER 64: GET A DIVORCE

Katherine arrived at the Cross’s Corporation with her heels clicking on the marble floor with such precision.

She smiled a little as she greeted the employees who stared at her. They responded, and once she walked past, they started gossiping.

"What’s she doing here? Didn’t she cheat on her husband?"

"I thought she would already be out of his life by now, but it seems to me she’s still obsessed with him."

"What do you mean by obsessed? She’s still his wife and that video might be fake."

The other staff gave the one who spoke a dirty look, rolled their eyes, and got back to work while the staff who was defending Katherine awkwardly did so.

Once Katherine was in the elevator, her entire demeanor changed.

She’d only smiled at the employees and kept a calm facade because she couldn’t risk adding to her scandal. Her reputation was fragile now, she’d already lost her contract with Veila and several other deals. She’d heard what the employees were saying, and it took all of her willpower not to walk over to them and slap them hard across the face.

But she couldn’t.

Katherine took a deep breath to calm herself. She was also raging over what Alisha had told her right before she left Veila Entertainment.

She needed to do a lot of research to find out who Alisha De Rossi was.

She didn’t plan to meet Nathan today, but she had no choice. He’d been avoiding her the entire time, barely coming home as if she were some contagious disease.

Thankfully, he didn’t ask for a divorce. Yet.

Katherine was greeted by the secretaries and other employees before she stepped into Nathan’s office without knocking.

Inside were two men in business suits, their expressions ugly when they were suddenly interrupted by someone who opened the door without even knocking, knowing fully well that it was the CEO’s office.

"Did I interrupt your meeting? I’m sorry, but I really need to talk to my husband about something. It’s urgent so come back later," she said.

Nathan glared at her, while also wondering why she was there. They weren’t speaking to each other since he was still thinking of what to do with her.

The two men looked at Nathan, waiting for his order.

He gave them a curt nod. "I’ll send my secretary over later."

With that, the two men got up and left the office silently.

Katherine watched them as they closed the door and once she heard the click sound, her face fell.

"Nathan, I need your help."

He frowned deeply at her—at her audacity to come to him for help after her infidelity which she was still denying even when the evidence was still online.

He’d tried to get it off, but he couldn’t. Unlike the pictures which were easy to do, he couldn’t have his team get the video off the internet. She may have been the one who cheated, but her terrible reputation infected his business the wrong way since she was still his wife.

His business partners were bugging, asking for his next move. And some were hesitant in partnering with him because there was probably too much to handle at home because of the big news. Also, since the company was handed down to him just recently, some shareholders believed he wouldn’t be able to cope, especially now.

This was what he was discussing with his legal advisors before Katherine barged in from out of nowhere.

"Veila terminated my contract with them. I’m losing brand deals. Alisha has taken it all from me. I need your help," she cried.

She desperately needed his help. He was the only one who could assist her at a moment like this.

She couldn’t go to her parents because they weren’t quite happy with how careless she was. They were aware of the other man, but they’d expected her to be careful.

Her father refused to help her after she made a phone call on her way there. He told her to ask Nathan instead and use the opportunity to mend the broken relationship.

And worst, Mason had gone missing.

Nathan scoffed. "You want my help? What now? You want my help so you can cheat on me again?"

Katherine narrowed her eyes at him, her heart aching to spill vile things to him.

"I told you, I never cheated. That video wasn’t real." No matter what happened, she must deny the accusation. She walked towards him and gently pulled on his suit. "I love you, Nathan. After everything. After our separation, I vowed to be loyal to you and only you. I would never intentionally hurt you," she cried but it was obvious Nathan didn’t believe any of those words.

He took her hands off her face and pushed her away, having her stumble on her heels with a gasp escaping her lips.

"What? Couldn’t your lover help you?" He questioned.

Katherine’s face turned sour but she wasn’t giving up yet.

"Contact your sister. She owns an entertainment company right? Let her help me, I can’t lose face in the entertainment world," she suggested, tears rolling down her face uncontrollably now.

Nathan still couldn’t believe his ears.

He had a sister who owned an entertainment company. Despite everything that Katherine had done, she believed she could boss him around and have him do things for her again.

He pinched his temple in frustration. This argument was the last thing he wanted to have at that moment. It was noon, the sun was scorching hot despite the fact that he was in a cool office, and he also needed to convince his business partners he was in the right state of mind to run the company after what his wife had done.

"I’m not doing anything for you, Katherine," he said, his tone firm. "You’re on your own this time. And...I’ll have my lawyer send you the divorce papers soon."

Katherine’s heart sank.

"We can’t get a divorce," she responded.

Nathan cocked an eyebrow at her. "And why?"

She cleaned off her tears. This was her last trump card and she was going to use it well. "I’m pregnant."
