Revive Rome: Wait! Why not make the empress fall in love with me first?
Chapter 555 - 65 Fine Control
CHAPTER 555: CHAPTER 65 FINE CONTROL
Several Spiritual Essence Polluters were moving along the streets.
From the back of their necks, translucent human-shaped Spiritual Bodies emerged, their vine-like arms gently swaying like the flickering tongues of snakes, probing the spirituality changes around them.
A squad of Temple Knights appeared at a distant street corner. They cautiously measured the distance, confirmed the surrounding traffic conditions, and then pulled out several Floating Speedboats.
These jet-propelled speedboats could hover and achieve a flight speed of 120 yards when activated; they were the first mode of transportation to be restored by the Church Court after the end of the Magic Tide.
The Knights mounted the speedboats, ignited the engines, and prepared to accelerate. One of the Temple Knights took out a Magic Copper Box.
On opening the box, there was a glittering Extraordinary Trait.
The distant Spiritual Essence Polluters immediately lifted their gaze, focusing on the box in the hands of the speedboat Knights, their eyes turning greedy and cruel. Then they suddenly burst forward with increased speed, rushing towards the Knights like lightning.
Undoubtedly, an agility class Transcendent must have been contaminated, granting these Spiritual Essence Polluters their astonishing running speed.
The Temple Knights were also helpless. They had already announced the latest "Atonement Regulation" throughout the city, declaring that any Transcendent who surrendered would be pardoned of all crimes and would receive the Church Court’s exemption and protection. However, almost no Transcendents came forward to surrender.
After all, given the Church Court’s history in dealing with Transcendents, it could be said to be full of crimes and bad records, and everyone was unable to extend any trust.
Therefore, these Transcendents lurking in Solomon City were neither willing to come forward nor find places to hide, and the result was that they were found and transformed by passing Polluters, leading to the strength of monsters rising almost exponentially.
The speedboats roared and spurted out flames, in an instant reaching full speed, racing and weaving through the iron forest. Chasing behind the racing Knights were several pursuing Spiritual Essence Polluters, their astonishing speed trailing a series of afterimages.
As they approached the street leading to the Lysine Building, the Temple Knights saw a masked girl standing out of thin air in front of them. She wore an ordinary Mage Robe, without any jet-propulsion equipment, yet she was bizarrely hovering in the air, her cool gaze looking over.
The Temple Knights’ speedboats swiftly rose in altitude, flying over the girl’s head. The pursuing Spiritual Essence Polluters ran and wall-kicked quickly, leaping up in height and lunging at the girl suspended in midair.
Thira, with her hand hidden beneath her sleeve, gently clenched a fist, and the Mithril Circuits on the back of her hand lit up.
The Polluters that pounced midair suddenly lost their weight inexplicably.
The fierce wind swirled them up, rapidly spinning and tumbling in the air, accompanied by countless Air Bullets that pierced through, tearing the Spiritual Bodies on their backs to shreds.
These Polluters flailed wildly in their weightless spin, unable to even touch the hem of Thira’s garment.
"... the so-called Storm Tactics," Thira recalled Aske’s words in her mind. "The point is to use the storm and gravity to maintain control over the enemy and prevent the enemy from getting close to you."
"In the early stages, this tactic will be unexpectedly effective, because if the opponent lacks long-range means and flight capabilities, they will almost be unable to resist your Floating Control. However, you must ensure precise mastery of your own abilities, so that when you encounter enemies who can deal with these tactics, you won’t find yourself in an uncomfortable situation due to lack of adaptability."
"Once you master the Catastrophe Law later, your AOE clearing ability will improve further, and the demand for precise control ability will be higher. Otherwise, the more spectacular the clearing moves, the harder it is to hit the enemy accurately, and without a doubt, it will become a laughing stock."
"The Storm Mage’s Bloodline will grant you the talent to sense Air Flows and Gravity distribution. Now, every time you activate your Ability, you need to maintain a lock and awareness of all enemies on the field."
"Try practicing more refined controls, such as making one enemy accelerate to hit another, or having them turn clockwise for half a circle and then switch to counterclockwise, and so on. Keep practicing until you have the dexterity over the storms and gravity you conjure, as if you were directing your own arms."
Thira took a deep breath.
Well then, let’s go.
She made several casting gestures, and the route of the hurricane surrounding her instantly became more complex.
One of the Polluters was blown by the Air Flow to suddenly accelerate, crashing hard into another Polluter. The latter was knocked out of the inner layer of the hurricane and flung far away, but Thira quickly adjusted the Gravity again and pulled it back into place.
It felt like her first time practicing playing pool, Thira thought to herself.
On the other side of the Lysine Building, under Aske’s guidance, Nora and Medea also began to engage in a new training scheme.
The Spiritual Essence Polluters rushing towards them were suddenly entangled by plants growing at their feet.
Soon, Flames erupted around their ankles, burning off the wildly growing plants. However, invisible Spiritual Bodies quickly invaded and attached themselves to the Polluters, causing them to tremble all over, like they were in a spasm, unable to control their bodies.
Medea snapped her fingers, and the originally gentle Flames at their feet suddenly turned into several fierce fire serpents, climbing rapidly up their spines, and directly igniting the Spiritual Bodies behind them.
After the massive humanoid Spiritual Bodies were burned to ashes, the contaminated hosts themselves collapsed to the ground, unconscious, and were then uniformly taken away by the nearby Temple Knights for isolation.
Those Polluters whose possessing Spiritual Bodies were brutally destroyed, whether they were ordinary people with Spirituality or Transcendents, would lose all their Spirituality and Levels, becoming pure-blood ordinary humans.
For the former, it might only mean a slight weakening of the body; for the latter, however, it was rather tragic. Not only did it mean that all the Magic Potions they had taken evaporated into nothing, but also because of incomplete Sequence residues in their bodies, if they wanted to embark on the Transcendent path again in the future, the probability of losing control would drastically increase.
This also made Medea and Nora vigilantly remind themselves not to be hit by the opponent’s contamination attack... But since we have a super reliable Squad Leader here, we can still be somewhat at ease.
"Hey, Aske," Medea casually flicked her hair, and before the Temple Knights could bring in new monsters, she asked, "Why haven’t I been able to grasp Law Skills even though I have mastered the Manipulation Law?"
Aske glanced at her and said indifferently, "Grasping Law Skills is equivalent to leveling up, of course, it’s not that simple."
"But Peggy and Eleanor’s promotion speeds are very fast," Medea complained, her gaze filled with suspicion, "You wouldn’t have privately given them some sort of advantage, would you? Additional guidance and tutoring?"
"As the Squad Leader, I am impartial and treat all members equally," Aske argued, "It’s just that their personalities are more inclined to understand the Law."
"What are the requirements for understanding the Law?" Medea asked.
"Intense emotional fluctuations," Aske said, spreading his hands, "In plain terms, that means one has to be sensitive and impulsive."
Medea: ...........
"So you’re saying that mature and steady Transcendents can’t level up quickly?" Medea questioned skeptically, "That seems too unreasonable, doesn’t it?"
"Complaining to me is useless. This world’s setting is just like that," Aske said helplessly, "The crazier, the stronger; the stronger, the crazier... Or perhaps you could try not to suppress yourself too much? Don’t always be scheming this and that, maybe occasionally letting go of your nature and ego or something?"
"Are you suggesting that I should overpower you?" Medea said excitedly, suddenly feeling somewhat tempted.
However, Nora’s cold gaze quickly came from behind her, so she waved her hand in a nonchalant manner, laughing, "Haha, I’m just kidding."
Maybe it’s really worth a try... While bantering with the two, the Enchanting Demon lady quietly schemed in her heart.
Since it was Manipulation Law, then through various designs and conspiracies, if she could take control of the Squad Leader’s body, might she be able to advance because of that?
At this thought, her breathing couldn’t help but become a bit more fervent.
