Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse
Chapter 225: Arriving at the Abandoned Town
CHAPTER 225: CHAPTER 225: ARRIVING AT THE ABANDONED TOWN
After the crystal shard disappeared, the air around them felt a little different but not by much since the residue energy in the forest was still there.
"I guess that was what was attracting me here. We should leave now. If we keep stopping so much we won’t get to our destination even at night." Leng said and grabbed her husband’s hand again.
The two turned around and left the way they had come.
However, something was still bothering Leng Pan, "How did that crystal end up so deep into the ground? Especially since the number of meteorites that fell in this area is so small?" She wondered out loud.
"Did you forget that we also found the one I have under a bench or something on top of a high-rise building?
There wasn’t a meteorite there but the crystal had somehow ended up in that place. We can’t know what is happening but since this situation is beneficial to us, we should be grateful.
If I am not wrong, the voice that appeared that time in the glowing light mentioned three seals and other people remembering things.
If there are others looking for these crystals, it’s better if they are in our hands." Lu Zhen didn’t share the same curiosity with his wife.
He just wanted her to be safer and as it stood, the crystal shards being in their hands would keep his wife safe.
Getting out of the forest, the two surveyed their surroundings to make sure they weren’t followed before Leng Pan took out their motorcycles.
The riding began again and this time, they didn’t stop until they came across a huge willow tree.
It had lush green leaves that looked bigger than normal leaves but apart from that, there was nothing else.
The willow tree seemed to have grown at the entrance of a village as several stone benches were made under the shade of the willow tree complete with a round table that had a faded and almost rotten chase board on it.
Some of the chase pieces were scattered on the board and the table while others were lying haphazardly on the ground.
While the chase board was made of wood, the chase pieces were made from what looked like carved stone.
Even though they had weathered sun and rain under that tree, nothing had happened to them. They were still in good condition and Leng Pan decided to keep them.
Thus, they disappeared into the space. She also put away their motorcycles and the two began moving forward on foot.
The place couldn’t really be called an abandoned town, it was more like an abandoned village.
The houses were low bungalows with only about two or three rooms. Some had collapsed while others seemed to have sunk into the ground.
It was as if there had been an earthquake there that caused a part of the village to sink into the ground.
Apart from that, there didn’t seem to be anything special but Leng Pan wasn’t going to let her eyes deceive her.
Since her brother-in-law had intercepted a message about this town or village, then there had to be something fishy.
The houses that were still standing had grass and weeds growing in every nook and croony and even vines went to the roof.
It was a completely abandoned place. The two moved forward and did a full tour of the village in about an hour but found nothing.
It was almost dark and they needed to rest.
Leng Pan thought that since they didn’t know anything about that place and they were the only two people there, it was better to spend the night in the space instead of camping there.
Thus, they found a house that seemed intact and went inside. The house was just a cover but just in case, they did light cleaning and dusted the place.
They even wiped the table and chairs in the dining room and cleaned one bedroom.
They had their dinner on the dining table they had cleaned before heading to the bedroom.
Once inside, they flashed into the space to take a bath. The bathtub they had used the last time they made love there was still available.
It was only after they had cleaned up that Zee’s voice was heard.
"Commander Leng, another room has opened."
When Leng Pan heard that voice, she was first surprised, then overjoyed. If another room had opened, then maybe they would find more information and supplies.
She was still happy about the last material they found in the first room that opened.
It seemed that the more memories they regained, the more rooms opened.
Now that she had the memories of how she had sacrificed herself to save the remaining humans, she wondered what was in that room.
Without waiting, she pulled her husband who had just gotten dressed in pajamas after a bath and headed outside the door.
The room they were in was probably a conference room because it only had a large table and chairs with nothing else apart from that box they found on top with materials for making clothes.
Now, she wondered what room had opened.
As soon as they left the conference room, they found themselves in a corridor and a few meters away was another door that was ajar.
In this mansion, you could never tell where a door was until it opened. There were no door handles or indicators, Leng Pan wondered why she had constructed a mansion like that.
When they reached the door and pushed it open, they were shocked by what they saw inside.
It was quite different from what they had anticipated. The wooden furniture looked out of place in a mansion that screams technology from every brick, that is if it was built with bricks in the first place.
The room looked so normal, but Leng Pan could bet that it was the only normal-ish looking room in the huge mansion.
She wanted to walk in and touch the things inside to make sure that they were real and not some illusions or holograms.
