Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse
Chapter 231: Eliminating Danger
CHAPTER 231: CHAPTER 231: ELIMINATING DANGER
Just as they reached the door, Leng Pan came to a sudden stop.
"Hubby, if we leave this place as it is, what if someone else finds it the same way we found it.
And what if that other person has ulterior motives or evil plans of using what is in there for their own benefits?" Leng Pan didn’t want to be an alarmist but she wasn’t ready to take a risk.
There were too many uncertainties and she didn’t want them to make the mistake of leaving something behind that the enemy could use against them.
Lu Zhen thought about it for a moment and felt that his wife was right. If they just locked this place again and someone else without malicious plans found it, then who would they cry to?
They had to clean this place up.
"I think everything else in this place can be cleaned up but that pod we saw last might not be so easy to take care of." Lu Zhen said with a thoughtful expression.
They had fought the evolved zombie outside and he still got some scratches. Whatever was in that pod looked more powerful than the zombie outside. Therefore, it will definitely be difficult to deal with. Hence, it would be better if there was another way to deal with it.
"How about I put it in the space and ask Zee about it. It seems more knowledgeable and might know something.
Even though we have regained our memories, we still lack knowledge in some things.
Also, I think that at the moment, that space is the safest place on earth." Leng Pan was now grateful for the jade bangle.
Even though it was a space that belonged to her in the first place, she was glad that it had come back to her after thousands of years.
"That should be a good plan. Then let’s get to work. Do we burn the place or what should we do?" Lu Zhen didn’t have a good idea of what to do.
If he were to choose, he would choose to just burn this place to the ground. However, he was worried that something dangerous might escape, so had some reservations.
"Let’s burn it to the ground. Your fire is more spiritual and hotter than any other and it won’t go off easily.
I will all make a wall of purification water with water directly from the spiritual spring.
This way, even if something escapes from the fire, it won’t leave this town." Leng Pan really didn’t want to take a risk that would unleash another catastrophe into the world.
So, she went back to the pod and immediately put it away in the space. She placed it on the table in the conference room that opened first before withdrawing her consciousness.
After making sure that there was nothing there to take, the two walked to the door before Lu Zhen hurled several fire balls inside the chamber.
The fire balls accurately hit some of the pods and screens and they ignited on contact.
As the place started to burn, they closed the door and locked it again.
With their task complete, they followed the same passage and appeared in the place they had killed the evolved zombie.
Leng Pan looked at those small fragments of the shard found in the zombie’s chest and decided to take them. In case they were useful later.
After all, they didn’t even know what that shard was.
After taking all the fragments from the ground, Leng Pan then closed her eyes and concentrated. She used her consciousness to draw water from the spiritual spring in the space and bring it out into the world, turning it into mist.
She then used the mist to form a barrier, creating a wall of mist made of pure spiritual spring water.
This wall surrounded all the space that the lab had covered, ensuring that even by accident, nothing could escape.
She even made sure that the mist barrier covered an area of ten meters above the ground like a roof. This was a contingency plan in case the things inside could fly or jump really high.
After everything was taken care of, the two walked away as if they had never been there.
It was only when they returned above ground that they realized that in the short few hours they had been underground, things had changed aboveground.
It was a lot colder than before. In fact, it was so cold that they wanted to add more layers to the clothes they were already wearing.
They walked hurriedly to the house they had used as a cover the day before then flashed into the space.
"Damn! The cold weather is getting colder than we had anticipated. We better go back home before things become severe." Leng Pan said while shivering a little.
"Mmm.... that’s true. Let’s change into the body suits Mon made from that material.
It might be more useful than anything else now." Lu Zhen also thought that things were changing.
The real apocalypse was beginning now and things will only get worse and complicated as time goes on.
The two headed to the bedroom and changed into the suit made by Li Yunjia with the material taken from the space then added warm layers of thick warm clothes on top.
Once they were completely armed against the cold, they left the space and walked to the edge of the town.
It wasn’t early anymore, but seeing that the weather was changing so fast, they didn’t want to be caught in a situation where they couldn’t get home.
So, they decided to leave at that moment and go back home.
Instead of riding their motorcycles, they chose to drive one of those modified vehicles Leng Pan had commissioned.
Thus, she took one out and Lu Zhen took the wheel.
This time they had no plans of stopping anywhere on the way and apart from slowing down in places where the road was severely damaged, they did not stop anywhere on the way.
Without any pitstops, it took the couple several hours to get home and it was already dark when they neared their community.
Parking the car in a secluded alley, they first scanned their surroundings to make sure that no one was watching Leng Pan put away the car and took out their motorcycles.
After all, the neighbors had seen them leaving in motorcycles and if they came back driving a car and then later seen riding the motorbikes again, it would cause issues.
As soon as they entered the house, the other members of the Lu family heaved a sigh of relief collectively.
Even Assistant Yao was in the apartment waiting for his boss. This was because his boss had told him that they would go together wherever he would be going to look at the lab but he had ended up leaving with his wife.
He wondered if he had done something wrong.
"Boss, why didn’t you take me with you?" Assistant Yao was the first to ask questions and Lu Zhen, as a man of few words, proved that character once more.
"Complicated." That was all that Lu Zhen said, which confused Assistant Yao.
Leng Pan, seeing his confusing expression, decided to explain.
"We were making a long-distance trip for the first time since the apocalypse and we didn’t know what to expect.
It was easier for us to fight or escape than if we had more people. It was also a test of how other places are.
But this trip might not have given us the right dynamic because the place we visited was not populated at all.
It is an abandoned town without even a single zombie. However, we did danger through. There were things there that probably shouldn’t see the light of day.
Go home assistant Yao, we’ll talk tomorrow." Leng Pan gave a general explanation of what had happened before asking Zao Yao to go back home.
Assistant Yao understood that there was something that they needed to talk about as a family, so he didn’t linger.
After bidding everything good night, he left.
Leng Pan and Lu Zhen took a seat in the living room but Uncle Li told them to go to the dining room to eat supper first.
It wasn’t until they were fully fed that the couple sat together with their family to talk about what they had found in that town.
However, they were wary about eavesdropping ears and finally chose to introduce the space to everyone else.
However, before making that decision, Leng Pan decided to listen to her husband’s opinion first.
"Hubby, is it okay now to show them the place?"
Lu Zhen immediately understood what his wife meant and thought that after everything that had happened and also what they will see once they enter the space, they would never reveal it to anyone else.
That was the key to their survival. Moreover, he and Leng Pan were getting stronger and he didn’t have to worry too much about others robbing them.
