Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse
Chapter 232: Revealing A Secret
CHAPTER 232: CHAPTER 232: REVEALING A SECRET
"Mmm...it’s okay. Besides, it’s safer to talk about our findings in private. It would be bad if the wrong ears heard our conversation and it was related to the wrong people." Lu Zhen didn’t want to take a risk of what happened in the past.
The prolonged war in their memories was enough to tell them that humans would not hesitate to join forces with aliens or even zombies as long as it served their interests.
"Okay, I hope everyone wouldn’t be too surprised but we need to talk in a very private environment. And this is something that we have been debating on when the right time to share with you all is but now seems like a good time.
So, be prepared." Leng Pan said something mysterious and before the people sitting in the living room sofas could react or ask any questions, they felt their vision blur and the best second, they were sitting inside a different living room.
In fact, they couldn’t even tell whether that was a living room because it was too different.
They were sitting on sofas that felt like floating in the clouds which was a bit unreal.
Moreover, it felt like they almost couldn’t touch the seats under their butts but they were clearly sitting on them.
Also, the walls weren’t the dark colors painted on their apartment walls but maybe a transparent glass overlooking a lake?
They couldn’t really tell. It looked like the walls were transparent but it still felt wrong. They just couldn’t put a finger on what the issue was.
It was a beautiful view after all. If they could overlook such a view everyday, then they would wake up laughing even in the apocalypse.
A short distance from where they were seated, a table that looked like it was made of the same thing that made the sofas stood with some glowing rock on top.
Moreover, even sitting where they were, they could feel some kind of attraction from the rock.
They could not understand what was happening but it was obvious that their superpowers were stirring up and reacting to that rock.
"What on earth is that?" Li Yunjia who still didn’t understand what her superpower was asked because she could feel that something inside her was stirring and it must be the source of her abilities.
"It’s a meteorite. We picked it up in the city during one of our daily training outings." Leng Pan explained as simply as possible because she couldn’t start explaining about catalyst cores or something so weird.
It was better if her family didn’t know everything because it would protect them better. Knowing too much could be just as dangerous as not knowing enough.
So, just knowing what it was and maybe understanding that it could enhance their superpowers was enough for them.
There was also the crystal shard she had found in the forest when they were heading to the abandoned town. It had already started cracking as if it was about to shed a skin and reveal its true form.
However, Leng Pan didn’t care too much about the rocks and was more interested in what they found in that town.
"Are you going to tell them it should I?" Leng Pan asked, to which Lu Zhen asked her to do the talking.
He wasn’t a man of many words and only talked more with his wife. Everyone else was just treated indifferently.
"Before you start telling us what you guys found wherever you went, anybody want to tell us where this is?" Li Yunjia asked while curiously looking around.
She had never seen anything like this place where she couldn’t even tell what the material used to construct the walls of the house or roof was.
"This is an independent space inside a magic artifact. It is livable but we don’t know the limit so we only come here to train sometimes or to store things." Leng Pan explained briefly.
Truth be told, she didn’t know how to actually explain the space. It was created for her by a master refiner in the ancient times when the aliens invaded earth.
It was meant to store the sensitive information, weapons, and other secrets. Leng Pan went the extra mile to store clothes and food inside to make going on missions easier and more conspicuous.
When the master who had crafted the bangle found out, they were angry that such a treasure should be used so carelessly.
But knowing the Commander’s personality, he knew there was no need to get angry but instead took the bangle back and when he returned it, a warehouse had been added.
With the warehouse, there was no need to worry about anything and even supplies and important research found a safe place to be stored.
"A space like those in novels and dramas? Is there really something so magical in the real world?" Auntie Li asked because she found the thing a complete fantasy.
Yet, everyone was inside said space. So, it couldn’t just be a story or a legend. It was the real deal.
"Yes, it’s something similar. This is a space inside a small magical artifact. It had this mansion, a small garden outside, which I haven’t planted anything and a warehouse where we have kept some supplies." Leng Pan explained.
"This magical artifact couldn’t be that jade bangle, that fake friend of yours, Bai Yinyin risked her life to come and get. Could it?" Lu Tao was the one who finally came to terms with what he had seen and asked the question.
As it turned out, he wasn’t stupid and was quite observant. With just a casual explanation, he had already figured out what was happening.
He was quite clever.
"It is indeed the same jade bangle. I bought it in the antique street and for some reason, Bai Yinyin began to coax me into giving it to him. I thought that something must be wrong because that bangle wasn’t expensive, and Bai Yinyin never showed in front of me without ulterior motives.
