CHAPTER 290: CHAPTER 290: BLAZE JOINS THE TEAM

Leng Pan stood among these people she called family and watched as they did two or three push ups before collapsing then getting up again amidst laughter to continue.

A shadow flashed in her heart as a memory of many similar scenes filled her mind. She had witnessed the same thing with other families in her previous life.

And families had to watch as their loved ones fell in battle one by one never to laugh with them again. She vowed that something like that will never happen to her family.

She would not allow it. Her family will survive to the end.

As the family was wrapping up their workout session, the door opened and Lu Zhen walked in followed by Silk, Vortex, Juan Ke, Janna, Xu Man, and another man they hadn’t met before. However, looking at his posture and walking style, one could tell that he was a soldier as well.

"Are you guys done?" Lu Zhen asked as he took off his coat and hung it on the rack.

"Yeah, they’ve gone soft. They can’t work out for too long. It will take them a few days to adapt." Leng Pan answered with a smile.

Lu Zhen walked towards her and bent down to drop a light kiss on her lips. The two had gotten so comfortable with their intimate gestures in front of others that it had become natural.

Their family members had already gotten used to seeing such scenes and didn’t find it awkward. The team members who had seen them a few times like Juan Ke, Xu Man, and Janna were also used to it and didn’t find anything out of the ordinary.

However, Silk and the other two men blushed when they saw this display of affection. But when they saw that no one else had any kind of reaction, they figured that it was a normal occurrence that they would have to get used to.

Thus, they also pretended that nothing had happened.

"Hubby, you can entertain the guests first while I go take a quick shower." Leng Pan said then turned to the kettle used to boil water for tea on the table.

She picked up a damp towel on the table and wiped her hands clean before opening the kettle and filled it with hot water that she produced.

Everyone looked at her as if she was a monster. How was it possible for her to produce hot water?

This was like a miracle, even Lu Zhen’s eyes flashed but he didn’t show any other emotion. Everyone else thought that he already knew since he didn’t appear surprised.

After she had done such a surprising thing, Leng Pan left the apartment to go and take a shower.

Uncle Li and the others who had been working out also went to their respective rooms to take a bath.

After a quick wash-up, the family gathered again around the table for a light meal. The guests also joined them.

Silk and Vortex had eaten here before and they still remembered the wonderful taste of the dishes. They couldn’t wait to dig in and didn’t need to be invited twice.

As for the new guy, this was the first time since the apocalypse that he had seen such a spread of dishes. He was even more surprised when he heard that this was only a light meal to supplement them after a workout.

When he tasted the dishes, he felt as if he could swallow his tongue as well. How could food taste so good?

After they had cleared the dishes on the table, they sat down on the sofas to discuss the general training for everyone now.

"Before we start to talk about the training, let me introduce the new member here. He is part of the same squad as these two. His name is Blaze and will be a member of our team from now on." It turned out the new guy was Blaze who had been trailing Leng Pan and Lu Zhen since the first time they found the catalyst core.

He was a loyal member of the Dominion squad, but his loyalty lay in the fact that the squad was meant to serve the country, not someone’s selfish goals.

The moment he found out from Silk that Commander Qui was working with aliens he had shifted his loyalty. Of course, he didn’t believe it so easily but when Lu Zhen had gone to get the two, they had asked him if he had a way to show Blaze the same memories they had seen.

He had shown a short version of what happened in the past and also informed them that they had discovered that the aliens had already invaded earth.

When they heard that they had been terrified, Lu Zhen reassured them that they had found out early and this time the enemy was in the light while they were in the dark and could take advantage of that.

It was because of that that Blaze had jumped ship and joined their camp.

"Welcome to the team Blaze. Before we start, we have something to give to you guys.

Lu Tao developed something that could help us in communication. We won’t have to go looking for someone physically when we need to pass on a message.

However, you have to make sure that the device you are given never leaves your person. If it is taken by someone else, our plans could be leaked and you are soldiers, I don’t need to tell you the consequences of something like intelligence leaking." Leng Pan went straight to the point after welcoming the new member.

When Silk and the others heard about the device that had been developed, they thought about the phone that Commander Qui had given to them that could make calls even without a network or satellite.

They thought it was something similar but didn’t expect to be given watches and some comms.

They looked at these things and wondered how they were used.

"Really? Something better than shouting across rooftops?" Silk’s excitement was genuine. Everyone in the room didn’t expect that the person who looked the most steady would have such a childish side.
