CHAPTER 294: CHAPTER 294: HOPE TO WIN IN THE FUTURE

Leng Pan and Lu Zhen went back to their apartment. As soon as the door was closed Lu Zhen helped his wife to shade her coat and removed his as well.

They had left the heater on and the whole apartment was warm. They had decided not to worry about gasoline for the time being.

Just as he was done hanging the coats on the coat rack at the door, Lu stepped towards his wife who was just done changing shoes and wrapped his arms around her small waist.

He rested his chin on her shoulder and whispered beside her ear, "Baby, this time it seems we have a higher chance of survival."

The breath from Lu Zhen’s mouth tickled Leng Pan’s ear causing her to shiver from a sensation that ran down to her core.

She had very sensitive ears and Lu Zhen knew about it. He was doing it on purpose just to see her reaction.

He loved seeing her body react to him. It delighted him that the woman he had loved for two lifetimes was finally willing to reciprocate and he didn’t think he would ever have enough of her.

Like at that moment, seeing her reaction already made him want to do things that went beyond just hugging her.

He wanted to be connected to her in the most primitive and direct way, but he held himself back.

Even though she was a little distracted by Lu Zhen’s intimacy, she still had the mind to reply to him.

"Mmm...we hold more trump cards than before. We can definitely win this time." Her voice was a little low as she too was trying to hold back.

Lu Zhen’s close proximity wasn’t helping her to think.

"How about we have a baby once everything is over?" Suddenly, Leng Pan heard Lu Zhen’s suggestion and her body stiffened for a moment.

It was only for about a second but Lu Zhen felt it. He thought that even though they were together and he was sure she was in love with him, she was still unwilling to have his baby.

A sense of melancholy suddenly overcame him and the heat that had been spreading in his body felt as if it had been doused in ice cold water.

What had he expected? It had been two lifetimes and the first one she wasn’t even willing to give him a chance and had instead sacrificed herself.

In this lifetime, he had chased after her for over five years before she agreed to marry him.

Even though along the way another soul had usurped her body and he couldn’t have been with that person, but it still hadn’t been easy.

If it wasn’t for the distorted memories of her living in another lifetime of an apocalypse where she had been tricked by Bai Yinyin’s schemes and he had died to protect her, she probably wouldn’t have taken the initiative to suggest getting married.

Their lives had been so blissful even with the apocalypse going on that he had almost forgotten about their past situation.

He shouldn’t have brought the issue of the baby up.

"Sorry if I scared you. We don’t need to have a baby if you do..." Lu Zhen started to apologize as soon as he thought he might have offended his wife and even his arms around her started to loosen.

Thinking that her reaction had caused her husband to misunderstand and also remembering his insecurities within their relationship, Leng Pan realized that if she didn’t do anything now, they would go back to how they were in the beginning.

With Lu Zhen walking on eggshells in their relationship and she didn’t want that. That wasn’t the kind of marriage she wanted.

She wanted him to be the confident man he had always been. She didn’t like to see him lowering himself so much just because of his love for her.

Their love was supposed to give them strength, not turn them into beggars.

Leng Pan immediately turned around still in her husband’s arms and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Hubby, you don’t need to always be so careful around me. You can say whatever you want to say without any fear.

I love you and I will be with you for eternity if that is what it takes.

It’s not that I don’t want a baby.... it’s just....we haven’t been exactly careful or using protection, but I haven’t gotten pregnant yet.

I was thinking that it might be a challenge to have a baby later and I don’t want you to be disappointed." Leng Pan looked straight into Lu Zhen’s eyes and delivered that very short speech, but her message was passed across.

This was the first time Lu Zhen was hearing his wife declare her love for him so straightforwardly.

He had only picked up her feelings from her actions, but hearing those words straight from her mouth made him feel like he was floating.

In fact, he was so excited and a strange feeling of bliss assaulted his heart with so much force it almost stopped.

His face looked as if it had frozen and his heart was beating at a speed that could rival a formula one race car.

Leng Pan looked at the man who looked as if he had become a statue and wondered whether she hadn’t been clear enough.

Thus, she went ahead to promise, "If you really want a baby, then we will work harder to try for one once everything is over. I don’t have a problem with having...." Before she could finish her sentence, Lu Zhen seemed to have woken from a dream and without a warning, lowered his head and captured the lips that were still moving with his own.

He plundered whatever sweetness he could get from that small mouth with his tongue moving like a snake to sweep the inside of Leng Pan’s mouth.

This wasn’t a gentle kiss like the ones Leng Pan was used to.
