CHAPTER 312: CHAPTER 312: THE END OF BAI YINYIN

"Alright, let’s do as you say. I will listen to my wife." Lu Zhen didn’t have any principles when it came to his wife, so he agreed to whatever she said.

"I am also thinking that it would be best to train these people like soldiers.

We can’t be too soft on them just because they are ordinary people. Anyway, you and I were ordinary people until we recovered memories of our past lives.

Even if we were commanders in the past life, in this life you were just a businessman and I was a college student.

So, we are basically ordinary people as well and need to train again.

I think in order to reach the standards we had in our past lives, our current training regime is not enough.

We don’t know when those aliens and traitors will launch a large-scale attack on us. So, we need to be prepared.

If we can have a group of people with the combat ability of what we had in our previous life then this time round, we might succeed in eliminating our enemies and also end the apocalypse once and for all.

"That means we will have to train nonstop without sleep for several days until our bodies reach their limit before taking a rest.

I don’t know if the others can handle such intense training." Lu Zhen was pro-Leng Pan and would support all her decisions, but he was skeptical about the abilities of their teammates.

"No need to worry. Even if they drop from exhaustion, as long as they have a breath left in them, we can still save them.

So, we shouldn’t show mercy. Feeling sorry for them and being merciful would only harm them and prevent them from reaching their full potential." Leng Pan understood what her husband meant, but she didn’t want to carry dead weights.

She wanted the people around her to be able to hold their own alone.

They couldn’t always hide behind her and Lu Zhen. Thus, she decided to teach them real skills so that in future fights, she didn’t have to worry about protecting them.

"Okay. Do we have enough of those mutated crystal cores?" Lu Zhen asked.

He thought that it was better for their team to use the crystal cores from the zombies they killed there.

This way, their bodies would transform faster.

"Yes I do. I just gave two to each of them. It will take some time for them to meditate and recover. Why don’t we cultivate as well and see how much change we will experience?

I want to bring out the stone." Leng Pan also had her own plans. If the bodies of everyone are indestructible, then their future fight with the aliens and zombies would be much easier and more humans can be protected.

"Alright, do what you feel is right. I will always support you."

As the two sat down to meditate and put the stone between them, Bai Yinyin was dying in her rented shack inside a military base turned safe base.

When the government announced the establishment of safe bases, she had no choice but to go because without the space bangle, she had nothing.

She couldn’t save supplies or store cooked food.

Because of the abrupt start of the extreme cold, her grandmother had died from freezing.

The shack she had rented was the cheapest kind equivalent to a slum in the safe base.

It only required ten contribution points per month to rent which was equivalent to ten crystal cores.

She had also awakened a superpower after much struggle only to realize that it was basically useless.

Her superpower was a kind of fragrance produced by her body that could seduce people and let them listen to her commands.

However, it was so low that she couldn’t even command ordinary people who had a stronger will, let alone superpower users.

The only people she could succeed in seducing were the scoundrels who were already lusting after her body.

The problem was that after using her for a while, she would only get a biscuit or half a packet of plain instant noodles.

Because of the vigorous exercise with no food, she had become emaciated and eventually couldn’t even get out of bed.

She had also contracted a venerable disease that was eating at her. She was practically a zombie at that moment.

If Leng Pan saw her, she wouldn’t recognize her.

At that moment, she started thinking about what had gone wrong. Why was this life different from her last life?

Why did Leng Pan not give her the space bangle in this life? Why did she distance herself from her and cut off ties?

Where had she gone wrong?

However, she would never know that the story of her having the jade bangle and using it to thrive in the apocalypse while Lu Zhen and Leng Pan died from being torn apart by zombies was a forced memory planted in her brain to be used as a trigger to awaken Leng Pan, the Commander from the last apocalypse.

As long as Leng Pan awakened, the story wouldn’t go as it was planted in her memory.

The Leng Pan who had transmigrated into the book was actually a fragment of the soul of Commander Leng that had been lost when she exploded herself in the last apocalypse to help the last of humanity escape in that high-tech city into another space.

In fact, her soul should have scattered, but for some reason, a fragment had been reborn in a different space and time and once it found the trigger, which was the book written from Bai Yinyin’s memories, it had returned into its rightful owner.

However, there was a twist. That fragment would never have awakened if another fragment hadn’t crossed over first and merged with it without it’s knowledge.

That was how when Leng Pan was twenty, she had changed and placed Bai Yinyin as the focus of her life, even ignoring Lu Zhen just because Bai Yinyin had a crush on him.

In fact, that was a different soul from another world that had occupied her body when her soul fragment had gone to merge with the other one that had survived the explosion in the ancient apocalypse.

Of course, Bai Yinyin would never understand all this as she drew her last breath inside that dirty and cold shack in the safe base.

I felt that Bai Yinyin has served her purpose and it was time to wrap up her character and give it the ending it deserves.

Let me know if you feel she shouldn’t have ended up like that or if you have other ideas for her character.
