Romance Game: Embrace of the Inhuman
Chapter 30 - 28 Test
CHAPTER 30: CHAPTER 28 TEST
The living room was a very standard single room, with a water dispenser at the entrance, a refrigerator further in, a computer by the bed, and some snacks in the drawer under the computer desk. At the very end, there was an attached bathroom.
Lin Qianxuan and Chen Long’Er lived separately.
Of course, their relationship was vaguely known by Nie Yidong and the others, but unless they specifically brought it up, they were arranged as independent individuals.
After receiving their entry and exit key cards, Nie Yidong also took Lin Qianxuan and the others to the cafeteria for a meal.
Meals could be ordered directly on the table screen and delivered by robots that looked like trash cans.
"The food standards at the Otherworld Bureau are very high, and some special ingredients are added, better than any supplements," Nie Yidong said.
Lin Qianxuan could taste something different.
It seemed that the food here was easier to absorb and digest than regular food.
It even seemed to subtly strengthen the muscles and bones.
Eating here long-term, even without much exercise, should also result in a strong body.
After the meal, Nie Yidong took Lin Qianxuan for a tour of the recreational facilities here, suggesting he and Chen Long’Er could use these areas for some physical activity when free, but to take it easy.
The recreational locations primarily included sports fields, gyms, pools, a cinema, and a specialized e-sports room, among others.
They allowed employees to stretch their muscles and release pent-up emotions.
Lin Qianxuan took a basketball and made a shot, tossing it halfway across the court, scoring effortlessly.
He raised his hand and the water vapor hovered the basketball back into his hand, feeling rather dull.
Who could play with him?
Playing competitive games felt uninteresting too, what once seemed fast now felt like slow motion when he focused slightly.
However, he did watch a movie with Chen Long’Er.
They enjoyed fruit juice and popcorn, watching a martial arts film.
The characters leapt high and low, different forces maneuvered, and a lot of people died, all to seize a martial arts manual reputed to extend life by a hundred years.
"Speaking of which, how long can I live now?"
Lin Qianxuan suddenly thought of this question.
He vaguely felt that his current situation didn’t seem like he would age and die at a hundred.
But exactly how long he could live, he couldn’t fathom.
There were other Otherworld Bureau members in the cinema watching the movie with Lin Qianxuan, and they didn’t seem to find the high-flying martial artists impressive.
Two even discussed that they were more impressive than the characters.
Some whispered about how the life-extending martial arts manual seemed a bit inefficient.
It wasn’t that their standards were low; the cinema was large, the sound system drowned out most noises, and they whispered only softly.
It was just Lin Qianxuan’s ears were exceptionally good, being able to hear even the faintest sounds.
When focused, he could hear a pin drop a thousand meters away, crystal clear.
Fortunately, these senses adjusted automatically, changing with his activities.
Otherwise, it would have been unbearable for him.
After watching the movie, Chen Long’Er’s main takeaway was that the popcorn was delicious, and the fizzy fruit juice was tasty.
Lin Qianxuan felt that all the movie’s characters combined weren’t enough to face him.
If he wanted, he could transform into his True Dragon form, summon wind and rain, and decimate an entire city in minutes.
Why bother with scheming and intrigue, such a hassle?
He could skip 99% of the movie’s content.
At night, after Lin Qianxuan spent a while browsing his phone, there was a knock on the door.
As expected, it was Chen Long’Er when he opened the door.
"What’s going on?" Lin Qianxuan asked.
"Can’t sleep," Chen Long’Er said, "Qian Xuan, I want to sleep with you."
"Come in," Lin Qianxuan nodded.
Getting into bed, Chen Long’Er snuggled beside Lin Qianxuan, sniffing him.
After recognizing the familiar scent, she stretched and leaned against Lin Qianxuan, closing her eyes.
What "Hakimi"?
Chen Long’Er was still in semi-dragon form; her scales were cool, feeling very comfortable to the touch.
Lin Qianxuan had a taste for comfort, but here, he restrained himself a bit and didn’t do anything outrageous.
"Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
The latter was Chen Long’Er’s response.
Closing his eyes, Lin Qianxuan naturally fell asleep.
Although he was full of energy, seemingly able to stay awake for ten days and nights, he could easily enter a state of dormancy when he wanted to sleep.
Or rather, hibernation.
In a hibernation state, his body’s consumption reduced by 99%.
Meanwhile, all aspects of growth accelerated.
The absorbed energy was directly allocated to body growth.
The saying "sleep to get stronger" seemed to manifest perfectly in him.
The Dragon Bloodline mechanism, it’s as if it doesn’t care about balance at all.
Being absurdly strong in every aspect is one thing, but growing so fast?
It’s like a cat-and-mouse game without nerfing it, who can play?
Unfortunately, in the Earth OL version update process, it not only wasn’t weakened but also underwent a reworking and strengthening.
....
Every day, Lin Qianxuan would leisurely take walks with Chen Long’Er, watch movies, eat some snacks, and explore the novelties in the living area. Time quickly flew by, and it was now June 10th.
Finally, someone arranged for Lin Qianxuan and Chen Long’Er to undergo data testing.
The testing grounds were divided into several areas, with a plethora of equipment, and nearly a hundred testing personnel, all with at least a master’s degree, and many with doctorates.
Though Lin Qianxuan had already imagined it to be quite extensive, the scene before him still surprised him a bit.
But after thinking about it, it made sense; if it were just simple tests, there wouldn’t be a need for such extensive preparations.
"Hello Mr. Lin, Ms. Chen. I’m Liu Li, the primary person in charge of this test. If you have any questions later, feel free to ask me," a woman in work attire, wearing black-frame glasses, and appearing to be in her thirties, said to Lin Qianxuan and Chen Long’Er.
"Got it. When does the testing start?" Lin Qianxuan asked.
"If you’re ready, we can start now. By the way, do you mind if we collect some hair and blood samples?" Liu Li asked.
"I don’t mind, but my skin is a bit unique now, so collecting samples might be a bit tricky," Lin Qianxuan said.
As he had tried before, even in human form, a fruit knife would bend and couldn’t cut through, not even affecting the tiny hairs on his skin.
Next to him, Chen Long’Er also nodded.
Although past experiences made her uncomfortable with such things, she had overcome it now.
"Rest assured, we have specialized collection equipment," Liu Li said.
"Then let’s begin," Lin Qianxuan nodded.
"Could both of you describe your abilities? The more detailed, the better," Liu Li said.
"For me, I run fast, jump high, have strong body defenses... I can transform into a half-dragon and a full dragon, control water—not the liquid concept, but pure water. Substances carried by the water aren’t within my control, although they can move along,"
Lin Qianxuan briefly described his abilities.
Liu Li used relevant equipment to record this, generating data.
Then it was Chen Long’Er’s turn. She said, "I can’t transform, but I can control water..."
Chen Long’Er was similar to a heavily weakened version of Lin Qianxuan.
However, she couldn’t assume a True Dragon form or soar through the clouds and mist.
Lifting herself with water streams in flight wasn’t smooth either.
At most, she could gather water streams mid-air for support.
After the descriptions, Lin Qianxuan and Chen Long’Er began some basic data tests.
This included height, weight, running speed, grip strength, pull strength, jump height, and so on.
Chen Long’Er’s test was straightforward, passing in one go.
Lin Qianxuan’s was a bit more complex, with tests in human form, half-dragon form, and dragon form.
The first two weren’t too disruptive.
But during the dragon form test, Lin Qianxuan astonished the testing personnel.
"A dragon!!"
Everyone’s eyes reflected a peculiar emotion, hard to suppress.
After all, it was the totemic image ingrained in the hearts of Xuan Country’s people, evoking awe and longing among everyone.
Lin Qianxuan’s dragon form was 42.95 meters in length, with a staggering body diameter of 1.56 meters.
His weight was peculiar too—it kept changing. He could be heavy at will or as light as a few hundred pounds when desired.
This matched the characteristic ability of dragons to change size and become small or large, visible or invisible.
However, when testing the maximum weight, it was found to be 1,205 tons. He couldn’t increase his mass endlessly, and when heavier, he became clumsy, flying much slower.
Even so, a strike with this mass carried a staggeringly destructive physical force.
The mobility of his dragon form wasn’t very convenient, yet his speed was fast; faster still was Lin Qianxuan’s speed when flying through the clouds, his first time moving at full force through them.
He broke the sound barrier, creating terrifying shockwaves.
In an instant, he circled the entire testing grounds three times.
Returning to human form, Lin Qianxuan asked, "What about the speed?"
"The test showed it was 968.44 meters per second," a testing personnel replied.
Nearly three times the speed of sound, at this speed, simply charging could unleash incredible power.
Especially since Lin Qianxuan’s flying posture was so poised, maneuvering freely, even executing sharp turns mid-flight.
In these basic tests, Lin Qianxuan failed to reach the limit on many metrics.
Instead, they maxed out the limits of the machines.
It caused the researchers to marvel.
Though Chen Long’Er’s results were extraordinary too, she was not as exaggerated as Lin Qianxuan overall.
Finally, they got to testing water control.
Compared to physical strength, the influence of the Dragon Bloodline seemed to be stronger on the talent of Water Control.
There was a stark difference between Chen Long’Er with Water Control and without it.
The force of her casual water manipulation almost doubled her punch strength.
They brought Lin Qianxuan to a large reservoir and said to him, "Try controlling the water inside, see how much you can manipulate."
Lin Qianxuan closed his eyes gently, his spirit easily sensing the water within about a three-kilometer radius.
The entire reservoir was within his sensory and control range.
Effortlessly, Lin Qianxuan moved with his mind.
Boom~!
Crash~!
The entire reservoir’s water lifted into the air, transforming into a gigantic water cube, manifesting in the void.
Lin Qianxuan didn’t seem strained, even had spare energy to reshape it into his own likeness, changing with his expressions.
This level of control left the testing personnel dumbfounded, with trembling hands and voices, rapidly recording the data.
