Sage of Humanity
Chapter 1451 - 1449: Merfolk
After about half a day, Lu Ye returned to the Constellation Palace.
It wasn't that he couldn't endure it. With the Talent Tree by his side, he had no fear of seawater erosion. As long as the fuel supply of the Talent Tree was sufficient, he could keep going.
But this passive cultivation method allowed him to refine a large amount of stellar space energy in a very short time. Once or twice was fine, but if it happened too often, it might lead to an unstable foundation.
It's like a person eating. When you actively eat, you can control your meal portion, but in his situation, he's being force-fed, and it's easy to overeat and hurt oneself.
There must be a period of settling and digestion, to avoid an unstable foundation.
After half a day more, Lu Ye entered the seawater again to remove weeds from the Constellation Palace, but besides the slight tremor from before, there were no other unusual reactions.
Three days later, on this day, Lu Ye was in the hall settling and stabilizing his power when a shadow suddenly rushed in through the open door.
Lu Ye looked up and found that it was the seahorse he had encountered here before!
Last time, a piece of flesh on its back was bitten off by something. With a little help from him, it quickly left. This time, it was covered in wounds and bloodstains again.
What surprised Lu Ye even more was that it was carrying something on its back. When the seahorse rushed in, it fell to the ground, staining the hall's floor red with blood, and what it was carrying was pressed beneath it, making it hard for Lu Ye to see clearly at first.
The seahorse raised its head and made a short and anxious sound at Lu Ye, as if seeking help.
Lu Ye hurriedly got up and approached, using force to move the seahorse aside, only then could he see what was pressed beneath it.
He was surprised to find a humanoid creature!
The stellar space is vast, with countless races and all kinds of forms. Lu Ye had even seen a squishy, shapeless creature, very peculiar.
But undeniably, most intelligent beings are humanoid or in human-like forms, and beings of these shapes possess strong spiritual intelligence.
The creature before him should be considered humanoid, because while the upper body was human, the lower body was not. From the waist down, it was a long, beautiful, multicolored fish tail.
This being had hair as green as seaweed, a prominently protruded chest, clearly a female, wearing nothing, with only two shells covering her chest.
The skin was white as snow, but there was a shocking wound on her body, vaguely revealing the beating organs inside.
Merfolk? Lu Ye suddenly recalled some records he had seen in the Xiyuan Pavilion of the Dwarf Race, knowing this was an extremely rare and valuable race. This race, like the Fairy Race, possessed very unique abilities of their own, which made many strong races in the stellar space covet them.
Moreover, all the females of this race were as beautiful as flowers, and coupled with their special physiques, they naturally aroused interest.
But according to information recorded in the Xiyuan Pavilion, the Merfolk Race was nearly extinct, so Lu Ye did not expect to encounter a merfolk here.
It matched the information in the Xiyuan Pavilion, but Lu Ye keenly sensed something amiss, as the merfolk exuded a distinct star beast aura. It seemed she wasn't purely of the Merfolk Race, or not truly a member of the Merfolk Race.
It's understandable, as creatures living in the All Phenomena Ocean, even if similar in form to outside creatures, would undergo unknown changes over countless millennia.
The seahorse and this merfolk were undoubtedly companions, both severely injured. The seahorse, recalling Lu Ye's assistance last time, brought the merfolk here as well.
While Lu Ye was observing the merfolk, the seahorse approached, continuously making those urgent sounds, seemingly urging Lu Ye to save them quickly.
Lu Ye, seeing no choice, could only take out two healing pills and fed one to each — the merfolk and the seahorse.
The seahorse was at least conscious despite its injuries, but the merfolk had already fallen unconscious, so Lu Ye had to pry her mouth open, prompting spirit force to push the healing pill down her throat, helping her swallow.
Lu Ye knew nothing about healing cultivation, so even though the seahorse brought the merfolk over, there was little he could do. After feeding the merfolk a healing pill, Lu Ye checked her injuries carefully, finding that although severe, they didn't affect her foundation. Her fainting should be due to excessive exhaustion.
He then took out several elixir pills for recovery and fed them to her.
That was all he could do...
However, one item in the merfolk's hand piqued his interest. Unable to resist, he picked it up to examine it, discovering that it was indeed akin to a spear-like weapon.
The weapon itself was crudely made, not at all visually appealing. Even the lowest-grade Spiritual Artifacts of the Nine Provinces looked better than this. Lu Ye wasn't sure what materials this thing was made of, but upon inspection, he was surprised to find that it contained no restrictions and was internally mixed with a large amount of spirit crystals!
Without restrictions, it couldn't be graded, but its innate quality was there, capable of delivering decent damage. However, Lu Ye sensed that it wasn't sturdy enough, likely to break under too much force.
After a brief observation, Lu Ye lost interest and placed the spear back on the ground.
He then went to sit cross-legged nearby, continuing to stabilize his foundation.
As time passed, little by little, the merfolk who had been lying on the ground suddenly showed signs of awakening, with clear indicators of regaining consciousness. The seahorse had stayed by her side all this time, looking very anxious. Sensing the merfolk's movement, the seahorse quickly lowered its head, gently nuzzling her cheek.
Long eyelashes fluttered, and a pair of sapphire blue eyes slowly opened, filled with bewilderment.
In fact, she truly did not know where she was; she had already lost consciousness on the way when the seahorse brought her here to escape. If it weren't for the seahorse's speed, she would have perished in the All Phenomena Ocean.
Seeing her mount, the merfolk sighed slightly in relief and raised her hand to pat the seahorse's cheek.
Then Lu Ye heard the seahorse making a series of babbling sounds, not knowing what it was expressing.
To his utter astonishment, the merfolk actually understood!
The merfolk slowly rose, much like the seahorse, with her tail on the ground, gazing at Lu Ye's direction, a hint of surprise flashing through her sapphire blue eyes.
However, she bent slightly, expressing her gratitude toward Lu Ye, and uttered a sentence in a language Lu Ye couldn't understand at all.
In fact, many races in stellar space have their own unique languages, with many possessing magical powers. For example, the Fairy Race's language; their blessings are given through the fairy tongue, and if they were to use another language, it would have no effect.
However, in the stellar space, the human race is considered the largest race with traces everywhere. Naturally, the human race's language has become a universal language, and any creature from any race wishing to integrate into the stellar space must learn the human language.
The merfolk continued speaking, while Lu Ye pointed to his ear and slowly shook his head.
Only then did the merfolk appear to understand, and swishing her tail, she slowly approached Lu Ye, a gentle smile appearing on her pale face, lifting an ivory-like finger toward Lu Ye's forehead.
Lu Ye frowned slightly, not knowing what she intended to do, but since he detected no hostility from her, he did not dodge.
The finger touched Lu Ye's forehead with a cool sensation, then the merfolk opened her mouth.
The next moment, Lu Ye heard the hall reverberate with song…
Fairies have blessings, a unique ability of the Demon Race, while merfolk can sing, with their songs containing extremely mysterious power, as documented in the Xiyuan Pavilion.
Lu Ye had never heard such a captivating song, nearly beyond words to express his feelings at the moment, and as the song resounded, a faint halo seemed to radiate from the merfolk's surface, making her appear noble and holy.
Lu Ye felt the seawater in his Divine Sea gently surging, as if a light breeze caressed the sea surface, followed by something seemingly being unlocked, and then a voice echoed in his mind: "Are you of the human race?"
Lu Ye's eyes flickered, looking at the merfolk before him, tentatively asking, "Is it that I can understand your language, or have you learned mine?"
The merfolk pointed to her mouth, gently waving her hand.
Comprehending, Lu Ye used his Mental Consciousness to transmit audio and asked again.
The merfolk responded with a smile: "Neither, this is just resonance in thought."
Lu Ye understood.
Because he had encountered this before, when the Constellation Palace opened, a grand and mighty voice resonated, which was not any language, yet the words that echoed in Lu Ye's mind were something he could understand.
That was a form of resonance in thought; what Lu Ye heard was that sentence, while other races might hear different words, though with the same meaning.
The Constellation Palace is a stellar space supreme treasure, its transmitted power can effortlessly induce thought resonance among all living beings in the All Phenomena Galaxy. This merfolk didn't have that ability, evidently relying on the power of the song just now.
Indeed, the merfolk's song was as mysterious as recorded.
"Are you of the human race?" the merfolk asked again.
"Yes!"
"So, there are good people among the human race."
Lu Ye didn't know what she had heard about the human race, but it didn't seem favorable, so he remarked, "In any race, there are good people and bad people, and just because I saved you doesn't necessarily make me a good person."
This comment left the merfolk slightly bewildered, pondering for a moment: "Regardless of whether you are good or evil, having saved me makes you my benefactor."
Lu Ye instinctively glanced at her fish tail, curious how one would express gratitude in such circumstances if uttering life-saving grace should be repaid with devotion...
"Unfortunately, I have nothing to repay you with," the merfolk's eyes dimmed slightly: "My homeland is under invasion. If I survive and return, I'll bring you Xie Li. If I don't return, it means I have died in battle there."
