Saint Seiya: The Multiverse Libra Gold Saint
Chapter 26 26: SS: 26 Trump Card
"You're saying you've received word of a God-level threat approaching?" The Hero Association's director faced Tatsumaki, his tone grave.
If anyone else had said this, he'd have dismissed them. But this was Tatsumaki.
"Correct." She replied, her expression serious. "The great seer Shibabawa likely knows something by now. Tell the Hero Association to prepare for war."
A disaster deemed God-level by such a powerhouse was a crisis only Blast or the one behind Genos could handle. It sparked Tatsumaki's competitive spirit. She knew Blast's strength... his spatial abilities were beyond most. The entire Hero Association combined might not match him. As for Genos's "teacher." That bald man, she wasn't sure if he was the one. He lacked the aura of a powerhouse.
Past experience told Tatsumaki that relying on others was foolish.
"I understand." The director said, his face troubled.
As humanity's final trump card, Tatsumaki's strength was undeniable. If even she was this cautious, the crisis could be apocalyptic.
"Is this the end for humanity?" The director clenched his fists, nails digging into his palms, his heart heavy with defiance.
Soon, the Hero Association issued its highest-level alert.
"What's this?"
"A top-level alert?"
"A God-level disaster?"
"A crisis that could end the Earth?"
Most S-Rank heroes grew solemn. The Hero Association wouldn't issue such a warning without solid intelligence.
Only three S-Ranks remained unfazed: King, Genos, and Watchdog Man. King's strength had grown significantly, bolstered by his cosmo and superpowers, truly earning his title. Genos had faith in his teacher. Watchdog Man, Saitama's alias, was an enigma, his only notable feat being the effortless defeat of Garou.
"A meeting in City A?" One hero muttered. "I've got to see this."
Many S-Ranks began packing, especially those farther away, preparing to head to City A.
Meanwhile, the great seer Shibabawa issued her own warning to the Hero Association.
"They actually received it!" The Association's staff paled at Shibabawa's prophecy.
With both Tatsumaki and Shibabawa's warnings, this was a matter of Earth's survival.
"I hope it hasn't reached an irreversible point." a high-ranking official said, head pounding. "A cosmic threat? We can't even prepare properly. We don't know where they'll land."
A threat from beyond Earth was impossible to defend against with precision. The Hero Association's current technology couldn't monitor the entire planet, so they could only hope the enemy would land in a sparsely populated area.
City Z
"Kaiser, aren't we going?" Saitama asked, his curiosity piqued by the Hero Association's alert. He was visibly excited.
"They're no match for you." Kaiser replied with a smile. "Save your energy for our fight."
"Oh, alright." Saitama said, not arguing. He'd grown somewhat aware of his own strength. So far, only Kaiser seemed worthy of a real challenge.
Genos and King headed to the Hero Association together, while back at the House of Evolution, Dr. Genus was frantically preparing. He was intrigued by Kaiser's mention of a God-level threat. If he couldn't study Kaiser or Saitama, perhaps this cosmic disaster would yield answers. Mass-producing such power would be a monumental leap forward.
Inside the Hero Association headquarters, every S-Rank hero except Blast was present.
"Tell us about this God-level threat." Bang said, addressing the Association's director at the center of the room.
"Let me explain." Tatsumaki interjected, cutting off the director. "By chance, I met a powerhouse who warned me of a cosmic threat approaching Earth. The great seer Shibabawa has also foreseen this crisis. We've gathered you to discuss how to handle it."
Her words silenced the room. The S-Rank heroes, confident in their abilities, had never faced a God-level disaster. They had no frame of reference for its scale or the strength of the foe they'd confront.
"King, your thoughts?" Tatsumaki asked, turning to him. He was the one S-Rank hero she couldn't read.
"We don't know where they'll land, their forces, or their goals." King said. "Splitting up is unwise, but grouping together leaves other areas vulnerable. It's a tough call. The best option is for you, Tatsumaki, to patrol low orbit and scout the planet. But can you handle the strain? You're the Association's trump card."
The heroes nodded in agreement. King's suggestion was practical, though it hinged on Tatsumaki's endurance.
"That's not an issue." Tatsumaki replied after a moment's thought. "Patrolling low orbit won't tax me too much."
"Then we'll proceed with that plan." Bang said. "All S-Rank heroes will stand by at headquarters."
"Agreed."
"Agreed…"
