Saint Seiya: The Multiverse Libra Gold Saint
Chapter 58 58: SS: 58 Asauchi
"What identity will you take in Soul Society?"
"Do you need my help?"
Aizen looked at Kaiser, his striking appearance impossible to conceal.
Despite lacking spiritual pressure, the divine aura he exuded was unmistakable, even to a fool.
"Just give me an Asauchi." Kaiser said casually.
"Spiritual pressure isn't a particularly advanced energy system. I can replicate it."
He was merely curious about the Asauchi.
"Fine." Aizen replied, saying no more.
Kaiser wasn't here to destroy the world. On the contrary, he was commissioned by the Soul King to elevate it.
Such a being posed no cause for concern.
And with Kaiser's power, Aizen had no grounds to offer suggestions.
An Asauchi was soon delivered to Kaiser's hands.
"The manifestation of a soul?" Kaiser mused.
"I wonder what my soul's manifestation would look like."
Closing his eyes, he began simulating spiritual pressure.
In mere seconds, he had fully grasped the system.
As his spiritual pressure flowed into the Asauchi's blade, it started to tremble.
But instead of transforming, cracks began to form.
Crack.
A sharp sound rang out.
The Asauchi shattered in Kaiser's hand.
"As I expected." Aizen said, entering the room after hearing the blade's cry.
"Your soul and power are too high-tier. The Asauchi can't withstand it."
"Manifesting your power through an Asauchi is impossible."
Kaiser shrugged. "No matter. I just wanted to try."
"I'll be in this world for a while. It'd be boring without something to do."
He casually swept away the Asauchi's fragments, which dissolved into specks of starlight in his hand.
"Are you interested in kido?" Aizen asked.
"As a medium for channeling power, I think it's quite effective."
Aizen's mastery of kido was profound, surpassing even the Kid Corps Commander, Hachigen Ushoda. In the original story, Aizen effortlessly blocked a fully chanted Hado 88: Hiryu Gekizoku Shinten Raiho with an unincanted Danku.
Kaiser glanced at him. "Sure."
He had time to kill.
There was no harm in exploring it.
Though, in truth, kido offered him little enhancement.
Among the twelve Gold Saints of the Saint Seiya zodiac, none were famed for defense.
All excelled in extreme offensive power.
This differed from other worlds, where such relentless focus on output was rare.
Time passed. Kaiser spent his days either meditating or on the verge of it.
His thought-form's strength grew slightly, but not significantly.
"Hm?"
One day, while strolling through the Seireitei, Kaiser noticed its inhabitants beyond the Rukongai.
Word of Aizen bringing him to the Fifth Division had spread.
Why would Aizen value someone without spiritual pressure?
It became a topic of discussion.
Tap… tap… tap…
Rhythmic footsteps paused.
A striking, elegant woman appeared before Kaiser, her face adorned with a gentle smile.
Yet Kaiser sensed the immense killing intent within her.
Unohana Retsu, Captain of the Fourth Division.
"Captain Unohana." Kaiser greeted politely.
They passed each other.
But Unohana's hairs stood on end.
An overwhelming sense of danger gripped her.
Despite Kaiser's lack of spiritual pressure or killing intent, she felt as if facing a natural predator, frozen in place.
Huff… huff… huff…
Only when Kaiser's figure faded did Unohana snap out of her daze and vigilance.
Her back was soaked with cold sweat.
Breathing heavily, she calmed herself.
"What kind of existence was that?" She murmured.
"That overwhelming pressure…"
"Even the Head Captain or the Zero Division couldn't evoke that."
"No trace of power leaked, yet my instincts screamed warnings."
"Aizen, what kind of person did you bring to the Seireitei?"
Her mind regained clarity.
The sensation was like a higher being suppressing a lesser one.
She couldn't muster the will to resist.
If Kaiser had acted, Unohana would have been helpless.
"Oh?"
"Captain Unohana, what's wrong?"
Zaraki Kenpachi approached with Yachiru, lost as usual.
"Nothing, Captain Zaraki." Unohana said, resuming her signature smile.
She wouldn't share anything about Kaiser with Zaraki.
Though he was strong enough to claim the "Kenpachi" Title from her, her instincts warned that Kaiser was no ordinary being.
If Zaraki challenged him, he'd die without question.
Even at his peak, he'd stand no chance.
"Alright, see you, Captain Unohana." Zaraki said.
"Yachiru, this way…"
Yachiru steered him off in another direction.
"That stirred my long-dormant heart." Unohana thought.
"Where did he come from?"
She pondered but found no answers.
In the Seireitei, only Aizen likely knew Kaiser's identity.
"Has Aizen already fought him?" She wondered.
For days afterward, Unohana remained distracted.
"Captain, are you really okay?"
Isane Kotetsu looked at her captain, worry evident in her eyes.
Having served Unohana for centuries, she'd never seen her like this.
Something significant had happened.
"I'm fine…"
"Just grappling with some unanswered questions."
Unohana Retsu snapped out of her reverie at Isane Kotetsu's concern, offering a gentle smile.
But in her heart, she had made up her mind.
Isane, her lieutenant, saw the stern resolve on Unohana's face, as if she were prepared to face death.
She opened her mouth to ask but swallowed her words.
Unohana paid her no mind and headed toward the Fifth Division's barracks.
"A rare visitor." Aizen remarked, surprised to see Unohana.
Their interactions were few.
He knew her as the current Fourth Division Captain... a dangerous woman.
In the past, too much contact risked exposing him.
But now, it didn't matter.
"Captain Unohana, what brings you here?" Aizen set down his teacup, flashing a warm smile.
"Captain Aizen, may we speak privately?" Unohana asked, her expression grave.
"Oh? Of course."
Aizen dismissed the surrounding squad members.
"Captain Aizen, I want to know about Kaiser. What is his origin?"
"Do you realize how dangerous he is?"
Her blunt opening made Aizen pause mid-pour.
"As expected of Captain Unohana." He said.
"A millennium of experience truly sets you apart."
"How did you sense it? As far as I know, Kaiser has never revealed his power in the Seireitei."
"No spiritual pressure, just an ordinary presence."
Aizen spoke openly. Kaiser shared the same attitude.
After all, they had no rivals ahead.
Aizen's greatest enemy now was himself.
"You knew." Unohana said.
"Captain Aizen! Don't you understand? Allowing such a dangerous being here endangers the Seireitei."
Her hand instinctively gripped her zanpakuto's hilt.
"No need to be tense, Captain Unohana." Aizen said calmly.
"Kaiser isn't our enemy. On the contrary, he's a friend, an ally… perhaps even a mentor."
His tone remained gentle, but it didn't sway Unohana.
She trusted her instincts.
That man was dangerous.
"I don't know how you sensed Kaiser's latent power." Aizen continued, "but it proves you're even more exceptional than I thought, stronger too."
"You could be our ally."
"Interested in joining me? I've been chosen by the heavens and gods, destined to stand at this world's peak."
After Kaiser's validation, Aizen's ambitions and perspective had transcended the Seireitei's confines.
Even in Hueco Mundo, he was confident he could break his limits... without the Hogyoku.
Kaiser's baptism had taught him that power gained through external means could be lost.
Though the Hogyoku was potent, it would hinder his path to greater heights.
To Aizen now, it was a tasteless, dispensable tool.
"What are you saying?" Unohana stared at him, as if seeing him anew.
In her memory, Aizen was gentle, amicable... the Seireitei's quintessential good guy.
But these words?
This was no good guy.
His ambition was palpable.
"Are you saying Kaiser is a god?" Unohana gleaned another layer of meaning.
"If you choose to see it that way, it's not wrong." Aizen replied.
"Kaiser's existence is akin to a god."
"I've witnessed his power... immense, boundless, without limit."
"This is our chance, the world's chance."
"A chance for the three realms to break free from the Soul King's chains."
Aizen's tone was calm, but Unohana felt the surging undercurrent in his words.
"Is that so?"
"It seems you've been swayed, Captain Aizen."
"If that's the case, I'll snap you out of it!"
Unohana drew her zanpakuto, her Kenpachi killing intent spreading.
The reishi around her thickened under its influence.
But in an instant, her movement froze.
That trembling sense of crisis gripped her again.
The feeling of facing a true god.
"A… god?" Unohana whispered, immobilized by awe.
"Interesting." a voice said.
"You can sense the difference in our life's essence."
"Not bad for someone at the pinnacle of Soul Society's swordsmanship."
"Your perception is remarkable."
Kaiser stood behind Unohana.
He hadn't bothered hiding his presence.
But not just anyone could perceive his extraordinariness.
"So, are you truly a god?" Unohana asked, suppressing her emotions.
"To the beings of this world, you may as well call me one." Kaiser replied.
"Unohana Yachiru, I know you."
"The first Kenpachi, the original captain of the Gotei 13."
"You're exceptional."
"But like Aizen, you've chosen the wrong path."
"Zaraki Kenpachi is indeed strong, but not in swordsmanship or technique."
"His strength lies in his very being."
"You abandoned your path because of him... a foolish choice."
Kaiser sat beside them.
Aizen was surprised.
He hadn't known Unohana relinquished the Kenpachi title because of Zaraki.
From Kaiser, he'd learned Zaraki was one of the five special war powers.
"If you want to taste defeat, Aizen could deliver it." Kaiser said to Unohana.
"Faster than Zaraki could."
In the original Bleach, Unohana's fate was tragic.
To awaken Zaraki's Bankai, she sacrificed herself.
Yet her strength was undeniable.
"So, what's your goal?" Unohana asked, her emotions steadier.
Her time in the Fourth Division had honed her mental resilience.
She'd come to Aizen prepared to die.
Her earlier lapse was merely instinctual fear.
"Purpose?"
"I've accepted the Soul King's commission." Kaiser replied.
"He's offered everything to me."
"In return, I'll help liberate this world."
"That's impossible!" Unohana Retsu blurted out.
Everyone in Soul Society knew the Soul King was the supreme being, residing in the Royal Palace, maintaining the balance of the three realms as a god.
"Go ask Yamamoto Genryusai Shigekuni or the descendants of the five noble families." Kaiser said.
"You'll see if it's possible."
"The Soul King isn't as grand as you imagine."
"I have high hopes for you."
"You could be a valuable ally to Aizen."
"Aizen is key to liberating this world."
"He's a powerhouse who's reached the Shinigami's limit."
"I'm eager to see your choice."
Kaiser smiled at Unohana.
"Shinigami's limit?"
Unohana glanced at Aizen, her expression unreadable.
She hadn't expected this so-called nice guy to have quietly reached such heights.
In the entire Seireitei, only Head Captain Yamamoto could claim to have touched the Shinigami's limit.
Yet Aizen, standing before her, rivaled that strength.
"Oh, and one more thing." Kaiser added.
"If you encounter Shihoin Yoruichi or Urahara Kisuke, pass this message along: their past doesn't need to haunt them, provided they're willing to assist Aizen."
Kaiser knew Unohana would investigate Aizen after this.
She might cross paths with Yoruichi and Urahara.
With Urahara's help, Aizen could reach his peak faster.
Kaiser wanted this resolved within a year.
"Is that so?"
"I understand." Unohana replied.
She knew Kaiser was sparing her.
Facing him again, she was certain: even Head Captain Yamamoto wouldn't stand a chance.
His power transcended dimensions.
After Unohana left, Kaiser turned to Aizen. "Aizen, you need to move faster."
"Reform often comes with blood and sacrifice."
Aizen paused, then a faint smile curved his lips.
"I understand, Kaiser."
