CHAPTER 343: CHAPTER 343 EXTRA 2
He originally thought he was fast enough, but seeing Shen Weiyi also finishing up that morning, his smile became a bit stiff. After a while, he smiled again and said, "You’re done too? I was thinking of offering help, but it seems unnecessary now. Shall we go eat together?"
"Sure!" Shen Weiyi clipped the sorted receipts into a folder and then left the office with him.
Shen Technology had a dedicated employee cafeteria on the third floor of the company.
Most employees dined there.
This batch of interns was relatively large, and upon entering the cafeteria, Shen Weiyi spotted several faces he had seen during the interviews.
However, everyone was unfamiliar, so Shen Weiyi did not greet those people.
As they approached the food service window, Meng Qiao turned to Shen Weiyi and said, "What do you like to eat? It’s my treat."
"No need," replied Shen Weiyi, "the company provides free meals to employees." Although he was unsure about other companies, Shen Technology offered meals at no charge.
In terms of employee benefits, Shen Technology always did well.
Meng Qiao smiled and said, "Is that so? I’ve just returned to the country and am not too familiar with the benefits at domestic companies. I thought that meals were an additional cost."
"Not every company provides meals for their employees, but Shen Technology is just more considerate towards its staff," explained Shen Weiyi.
"Really? Then I need to work hard to secure my position here," said Meng Qiao with a smile.
Shen Weiyi added, "First, let’s see what you’d like to eat. Of course, if you are not used to the food in the employee cafeteria, you can go out to eat. Although, there aren’t many places to eat nearby, and you might need to go a bit further."
Shen Technology’s building was located in the core area of the city’s Central Business District (CBD), mostly surrounded by office spaces, with few dining options. To find affordable and tasty food, one would have to walk at least ten minutes.
Fortunately, the dishes in the employee cafeteria looked quite good.
After finishing their meal, Meng Qiao said to Shen Weiyi, "Weiyi, I still have some things to take care of; why don’t you head back first?"
"Okay!" The company’s designated lunch break was one and a half hours, and they still had over half an hour before work resumed that afternoon.
With nothing else to do, Shen Weiyi went straight back to the secretarial office.
No one else was back yet.
Shen Weiyi ran into Secretary Jiang at the door, who looked like he was just about to go for lunch. Seeing her, he smiled and asked, "How’s the first day going? Are you settling in okay?"
"Pretty good."
"Good, let me know if you have any issues, or you can talk to Xiao Yao as well."
"Don’t worry, I’m doing fine."
Afraid of being seen by colleagues, Shen Weiyi briefly chatted with him before returning to her own workstation.
About half an hour later.
Shen Weiyi checked the time; there were about ten minutes left before work resumed in the afternoon, and Meng Qiao had not returned yet.
She initially thought of messaging him but realized she hadn’t added him on WeChat yet.
Just as she was thinking about asking him later, she saw Meng Qiao coming back.
He carried several cups of coffee and some cakes, followed by two servers carrying bundles of packaged coffee and cakes. As he entered, he cheerfully greeted all the colleagues in the office, "Seniors, I’ve bought some afternoon tea for everyone. I didn’t know everyone’s preferences, so I bought a variety. Let me know what you like, and I’ll bring it to you."
After that, he began distributing the items.
