Bobby is panicking.

Bobby… had fucked up.

It had seemed like a good idea in his head! Get Jinu out of the tower before any of the hunters, retired or current, could try and sink their claws into him. Get him somewhere safe and comfortable, where Bobby could start to try to make amends for Celine's over the top actions from the night before. Eventually, get Jinu in a place where the demon bastard might actually be willing to talk things out and explain himself a bit more.

Really, it had all the workings of a great plan! And then Jinu had taken Bobby's initial apology and thrown it back in his face. And before Bobby knew it, he was jumping ahead in the script and throwing Jinu's past in HIS face in return.

Bobby wasn't sure what he thought was going to happen when he confronted Jinu about his past. His best case scenario was maybe some sort of breakthrough involving tears and Jinu finally acknowledging that he didn't really abandon his family and it wasn't his fault.

Worst case scenario would have probably been a tossup between Jinu storming out of the bathhouse or telling Bobby outright that it didn't matter what the Emperor's orders were, Jinu had been HAPPY to leave his family behind. Some real heinous shit like that. But obviously, Bobby didn't think that second option would happen. Him storming out of the bathhouse was much more likely.

Instead… Jinu had gotten this horrified look in his eyes as those iridescent patterns all over his body had started to glow like nobody's business. The ensuing lightshow as Jinu had thrashed around in the bath for a moment had been damn near blinding, and also a little terrifying.

And then, just like that, Jinu's thrashing had stopped. The patterns, still glowing bright, had diminished enough that Bobby could look at Jinu without being blinded at least. But that just brought a new set of problems because Jinu was… unresponsive.

The man just sat there in the bath, eyes glazed over, rainbow patterns dancing prettily across his skin. Bobby had shouted himself hoarse calling Jinu's name at first. When that didn't work, he'd tried grabbing Jinu by the shoulders and shaking him.

But that didn't do anything either and Bobby was leery of trying anything else with the demon. In the end, it seemed best to leave Jinu right where he was and let him ride out whatever this was. After all, Jinu wasn't… completely unresponsive.

Oh, he didn't react to anything Bobby did, but he did still react at least. There were tears. Even a couple of laughs. There was anger and fear and heartbreak. It was… a lot. Bobby felt like he was witnessing something deeply intimate and only his desire to make sure Jinu didn't drown in the damn bath kept him from leaving the room entirely.

Of course, now it had been a couple hours and while Jinu currently had the biggest fucking smile on his face, he still wasn't responding to Bobby shouting his name. Truth be told, Bobby probably should have called someone else ages ago, but he didn't really know who. He wasn't about to call Celine (who he hoped was still sleeping at this point) after all. And he didn't necessarily want to call any of the girls and have them come to a men's bathhouse either.

With how long it had been though, at this point Bobby was starting to think that he would just have to bite the bullet and-

"Bobby."

Freezing in place where he's been pacing back and forth across the floor with a towel wrapped securely around his waist, Bobby turns to see Jinu sitting up in the bath, clear eyed and looking at him.

"Oh thank god. For a second there I thought I killed you! Or something equally bad. What in the world was that?!"

Jinu's markings have diminished in glow quite significantly as well, even as he looks down at them, lifting up his hands for a moment to study his arms with a bemused smile.

"… The Honmoon had something to show me, apparently. You were right. The guilt I carried for what happened to my mother and sister, while not entirely misplaced, also weighed too heavily on my soul for the actual part I played in things."

Bobby swallows hard as he comes closer, kneeling down beside the bath.

"… What do you mean, exactly?"

Huffing, Jinu just smiles.

"I was still an idiot, to be clear. When the summons first came, my mother tried to tell me that she and my sister wouldn't be allowed into the Palace. That the 'invitation' was only for me. I didn't believe her, I thought myself invincible thanks to Gwi-Ma. But she was right and if I had listened to her, I might have at least been able to say a proper goodbye to my sister. That part was my fault… everything else was not."

Well… that was pretty damn good progress, Bobby had to admit. Clapping a hand on Jinu's shoulder, he grins.

"Glad to hear it man. We all make mistakes. But I knew that deep down inside, you were a good person."

Something dark flashes over Jinu's face at that and he ultimately shakes his head with a derisive snort.

"Human Me was a good person, Bobby. And I… maybe I'm a good person now that I have my soul back too. But the soulless demon I've been for the past four hundred years was not a good person, no matter how much of a victim he… I was. Never forget that. I've still done monstrous things."

Bobby swallows, his throat suddenly dry as he finds himself at a loss for words. Luckily, Jinu continues in an upbeat tone a moment later.

"Still! Thanks to you, the Honmoon didn't just show me the truth… it showed me what happened to my mother and sister after I was forced to leave them. They survived. They thrived even… and I suspect Gwi-Ma sent his demons to try and kill them off so I never found out about it, because then my shame might have been lessened."

What?! Bobby's jaw drops, but Jinu just laughs, still grinning like a mad man.

"It's alright Bobby. His little plan failed, which is probably why he never tried to torment me with it. Instead of consuming the souls of everyone in the village that my mother and sister relocated to… the demons he sent were stopped by the very same shamans you mentioned earlier. The first hunters. I watched them save my sister's life and create the first Honmoon, and I know my little sister went on to become one of their successors too. She was one of the second generation of hunters."

Leaning back in the bath, Jinu lets out the most contented sigh that Bobby has ever heard from him.

"You're looking at the proudest big brother in all of Korea, Bobby. Absolutely nothing could ruin this moment for me."

Bobby laughs and shakes his head. Jinu's good mood is positively infectious and all of Bobby's previous worry and concern is just melting away. Heh, really, what had he been so freaked out about? Of COURSE the Honmoon was just showing Jinu good stuff and helping him come to terms with his past. Silly Bobby, getting all worked up over nothing.

He was-

Suddenly, Jinu shoots up out of the water, cursing at the top of his lungs. At the same time, Bobby hears a loud grinding sound, his eyes widening as he sees glowing holes in every surface around them start to pull open as… creatures begin to poke through.

"Shit! Water Demons!"

Bobby gulps, even as Jinu hops out of the bath, his claws at the ready, his patterns glowing with all the colors of the rainbow. The other man is completely naked at first, but whips on a towel around his waist even as they quickly find themselves surrounded on all sides by the so-called Water Demons.

One of them smiles a too-wide smile, showing off rows and rows of sharp fangs as he crawls out of one of the other baths.

"The traitor… and the manager. This is perfect! We bring the traitor back to Gwi-Ma and replace the manager and he'll be beyond pleased with us!"

Seriously?! They were still trying to replace him with one of their own? Surely they had to know that wouldn't work at this point!

"Hey, Jelly."

Bobby blinks as Jinu suddenly calls out to the Water Demon who spoke up. Said Water Demon freezes along with the rest of his ilk before slowly pointing at himself and blinking in befuddled confusion.

"You… know my name?"

Jinu just shrugs nonchalantly.

"Sure do. Hey… you really certain you want to do this? Because by now you all should know this isn't going to go your way. If any of you want to leave… now is your chance."

Bobby watches Jelly and the rest of the Water Demons all share looks, even as Jinu cracks his neck from side to side and pops his knuckles. Finally, Jelly scowls.

"… There are over a hundred of us and we have you surrounded, traitor. And Gwi-Ma himself is holding these tears in the Honmoon open so that we can replenish our losses with a thousand more as we need to. There's nowhere for you to run. You're trapped in here with us."

Jinu chuckles and grins widely, baring each and every one of his teeth.

"Nah. You're trapped in here with me."

Okay wait, when the hell had Jinu had the time to watch Watchmen- Bobby yelps and instinctively ducks as Jinu's hands whip out and so do those rainbow whips he'd used to kill the demons in Bobby's apartment what feels like a lifetime ago (fuck, how has it really only been two days since then?).

Bobby needn't have worried though, Jinu's attacks don't come anywhere near him. Or rather, they're all around him but they're focused on the Water Demons, who howl in pain and rage alike as some of their number are sundered in that opening salvo. Jelly is one of the very first casualties, so he and Jinu must not have been that close…

Of course, much like the dearly departed Jelly had said, there are a LOT of Water Demons and only one Jinu. And even as Jinu is already culling their numbers, more are coming out of the holes in reality, pouring into the bathhouse. Bobby is really glad that he bought the place out for this little session and even told the owner and workers to take the morning off. It's just him and Jinu in here right now…

Unfortunately, that does make Bobby the only other target in the building. For as many Water Demons go for Jinu, some break off to lunge at Bobby as well. He dodges out of the way of their grasping claws, though it's more of a stumble than anything else. And Jinu, of course, is always quick to slice down the ones going for Bobby specifically.

But that just means the demon is leaving himself open to attack from others. A pained grunt leaves Jinu's lips when a Water Demon finally lands on his back and sinks his claws into his flesh. There's a brief pause as this happens, everyone freezing and staring with wide eyes. Even the Water Demon himself seeming surprised that he managed it.

… And then the creature immediately starts to scream as the glowing patterns across Jinu's body and flowing out of the wounds subsequently burn it to a crisp… but the damage is already done all the same.

Iridescent blood oozes out of Jinu's back and even if it heals up rather quickly, Bobby can see a bit more desperation in Jinu's actions afterwards. And if Bobby can see it, then so can the demons. Of course, they also just saw one of their number get absolutely destroyed from coming in contact with Jinu's blood, so many of them 'wisely' decide to go after Bobby more instead.

Luckily, Bobby came prepared. Even as he dodges and stumbles his way through the warzone that the bathhouse has become, he actually has a goal in mind. And eventually he reaches it, arriving at a pile of towels he'd set up back when they'd first been getting ready to slip into the water. Even Jinu hadn't noticed him…

"Aha!"

Grabbing his weapon of choice out from under the pile of towels, Bobbie yanks the massive bowie knife he'd had imported to Korea yesterday out of its sheath and whips around to hold it out in front of him. All movement comes to a standstill yet again as even the Water Demon currently about to leap at him stops for a second to stare at the large blade.

"Back! I'm more than happy to stab you with this thing if you come any closer!"

"Bobby… where did you get a knife?"

Jinu sounds very concerned, even as the Water Demon in front of Bobby gnashes his teeth at Bobby's posturing.

"I had it shipped in, of course! Needed something to protect myself and you don't know this, but getting a firearm permit in modern South Korea is a months long process and even then nothing is guaranteed!"

He tries to make a show of twirling the bowie knife real quick to intimidate the Water Demon some more, only to almost drop the thing. Luckily, he catches himself before that can happen and gets a steadier grip.

"Bobby… mundane weapons don't work on demons."

Bobby pauses, looking over at Jinu askance.

"What?"

The demon just shrugs.

"Sorry. We're immune to such things."

Looking back to the Water Demon he's been holding at bay; Bobby makes a strangled noise in the back of his throat.

"W-Well maybe he didn't know that!"

The Water Demon snickers.

"No, I definitely did. Humans who fight back are my favorite, just so you know. Always so… spunky and fierce. It's cute."

Aghast, Bobby gulps as the Water Demon starts advancing on him fearlessly. Only... before it can reach him, rainbow whips wrap around its head, midsection, and knees… and rip it to shreds.

"I feel like I almost got forgotten there for a second. Bobby, get over here, will you? And bring the damn knife."

Bobby scrambles to do as he's told, making it back to Jinu in short notice. He's not sure what to expect, even as more Water Demons die to Jinu's rainbow magic only for their replacements to come pouring through the tears in the bathhouse surfaces.

But… he's definitely not expecting Jinu to reach out for his bowie knife and start singing.

"Between imposter and this monster, I've been lost inside my head

Ain't no choice when all these voices keep me pointing towards no end"

Bobby gapes as a piece of Jinu's iridescent power pours into the knife, coating the metal in gleaming rainbow energy that seems to almost… meld with the blade. Until finally, Bobby himself is holding what he can only call a magical weapon.

"There. Now it'll hurt them. Defend yourself Bobby… we're just getting started."

Right. Determination and resolve fill Bobby's every pore as he doesn't just defend himself… but rather puts himself at Jinu's back. Just in time too, because a Water Demon is coming down in the demon's blind spot.

With a yell that's half panicked shout and half war cry, Bobby ducks down and points the Bowie Knife up… only to be rewarded with a heavy weight landing on the blade that immediately vanishes as the Water Demon explodes into confetti.

… Oh fuck yeah. They were in business now!

A/N: Jelly the Water Demon was the Saja Boys' number one fan. Jinu had to try to give him the out. Shame he didn't take it.

Also Jinu has not seen Watchmen. Just a coincidence~
