CHAPTER 234: CHAPTER 234: THE ONCE MATCHMAKING BANQUET
When Summer Sutton woke up, Adrian Walyon was already gone, presumably off to work.
Summer Sutton didn’t bother about him; after heading downstairs and making herself a quick breakfast, she went to school.
Her classes today were all practical ones, so she finished early.
At four o’clock, as she walked out of school, Adrian Walyon sent a message saying that there was a company social with a partner company tonight and asked if she wanted to go.
Summer Sutton hadn’t slept much last night and had been in class all day today; at this moment, her head felt heavy and dizzy.
Thinking it was just a company social event and since she wasn’t an employee, her presence shouldn’t matter.
Being quite lethargic today, Summer declined the invitation.
She hailed a car and went to Morning Garden.
Since purchasing Morning Garden, they had slowly moved a lot of stuff belonging to her and Adrian Walyon there.
After arriving, she tidied up the villa briefly and decided to stay there for the night instead of going back.
Without Adrian Walyon by her side, she felt very much at ease.
Lying alone on the sofa, covered with a light blanket, she originally planned to sleep at eight but suddenly thought of Adrian Walyon.
Adrian had messaged her, clearly wanting her to attend tonight’s banquet.
Although she didn’t see the point of her appearance at such an event tonight.
But thinking about how Adrian Walyon had never refused her in any aspect since their marriage, Summer found herself unable to sleep.
Tossing and turning on the sofa, unable to fall asleep, she got up swiftly and went upstairs.
Changing into an evening dress, she took a cab directly to the banquet hotel.
...
At this point, the banquet was just beginning at the event site.
Adrian Walyon, holding a wine glass, was moving through the crowd, occasionally interacting with a few business partners.
Ten minutes into the banquet, a sudden commotion erupted outside the venue.
"Oh my god, it’s Lorraine Hughes!"
"My favorite actress! I never expected to see her here tonight!"
"She’s so beautiful, it’s unreal!"
Exclamations erupted among the employees.
Adrian Walyon cast a nonchalant glance toward the source of the commotion.
Under the splendid hotel lights, Lorraine Hughes, escorted by a middle-aged man, walked into the venue with a slight smile, noticing Adrian across the crowd.
Their eyes met briefly; Adrian Walyon’s face remained expressionless as he turned away to chat with other partners.
Lorraine Hughes seemed used to his indifference, maintaining her smile as she approached with the middle-aged man.
Upon reaching Adrian, the middle-aged man introduced her, "Mr. Walyon, this is my daughter, Lauren, the only daughter of our family. She might be handling all matters, big and small, of the company in the future. After the two companies cooperate, she’ll need to learn a lot from you, Mr. Walyon."
Edward Hughes smiled, as if remembering something, "By the way, Mr. Walyon should be aware of Lauren, right?"
Adrian Walyon did know Lorraine Hughes.
Not because she was a famous actress, but because Diana Wood, not taking the Walyon and Sutton Family’s marriage arrangement seriously enough, had once set up a blind date between Adrian Walyon and Lorraine Hughes.
Adrian Walyon despised being manipulated and naturally didn’t attend.
The outcome was Lorraine waiting for Adrian at the agreed restaurant all afternoon without seeing him.
Adrian Walyon offered no explanation for that occasion, merely greeting Lorraine Hughes with a light, "Pleasure to meet you."
