Chapter 146: Chapter 146: Politely Refusing Kindness (1) Chapter 146: Chapter 146: Politely Refusing Kindness (1) Carolline wasn’t as obedient as she used to be. Thinking about this morning, when he left without any extra words, and now asking her to come down, she hesitated for a long time before finally making up her mind to face him.
Xavier also said that he would fly to another country in two days. Carolline thought that he shouldn’t have any extra time to entangle with her, let alone a person like him would disdain to do so.
At the staircase, she ran into Emily Hill and Henry Ruiz, who were walking back. “Where are you going, Carolline?”
“Oh, I’m going back to my dorm. I forgot something, and I won’t come back.” Carolline lied subconsciously.
Because Emily didn’t like Bryan Hawkins, she would definitely object if she knew Carolline was going out to meet him.
“Or should I go with you, and we’ll come back after you pick it up? There’s barbecue.” Emily didn’t want Carolline to leave just like that since it was rare for her to come home. Besides, she bought some barbecue that Carolline liked for a late-night snack.
“No need, you eat with Dad. I bumped into Mia Parker when I went out for a walk just now, and I had two bowls of soup while having dinner with her. My stomach is still full.” Carolline declined; after seeing Bryan, she really wanted to go back to her single dorm room.
“Alright, then your dad and I will go back and eat.” Emily finally gave up because Henry didn’t say a word to keep her, and it would be strange if she could persuade the stubborn Carolline alone.
Carolline walked to the hospital entrance and saw Bryan’s car parked on the opposite side of the street. She went over, opened the passenger door, and sat down. Facing Carolline who arrived late, Bryan took an extra look at her.
Carolline kept her head down, not saying anything, waiting for him to speak first.
“So now you don’t want to talk to me at all?” Bryan sighed almost imperceptibly and finally spoke helplessly.
“No.” Carolline lied with her eyes wide open, blatantly denying it.
“When did Raymond Ruiz contact you?” Bryan wanted to know what she was thinking; why didn’t she call him directly or even call Xavier reluctantly? Could they not communicate now?
“It’s been a while. I would have forgotten if he didn’t come to ask me today.” Carolline didn’t expect him to be so seriously entangled in this matter, “If you think it’s too troublesome, you can refuse. I just hope you give him a chance to meet face to face, listen to his thoughts, and whether his thoughts can satisfy you is your business.”
Carolline explained, Raymond had said at the time that she only needed to help provide him with an opportunity, and she didn’t need to take responsibility for whether things would work out.
“I’ll find time to meet him tomorrow.” Bryan promised directly.
“…” Carolline stared blankly for a while before looking up at him, “Thank you.”
“No need to say these two words. Since I met you, I’ve always been the one bothering you, and you’ve rarely bothered me. Having this opportunity to trouble you, I’m actually grateful.” Bryan smiled and looked at Carolline as if the divorce she mentioned this morning was just a quarrel between them.
“You don’t have to say that either. I heard from Big Brother Xavier that you’ll be flying to another country in two days. When do you plan to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau to handle the paperwork?” After some thought, Carolline asked her question, knowing he was busy and not wanting to disturb him all the time.
“Are you in a hurry?” Bryan’s face darkened as he looked at Carolline.
Carolline didn’t say anything; she wasn’t in a hurry, she was just afraid that he would be impatient with someone else. If the woman she met today really liked him, she probably wouldn’t want to wait any longer.
