Chapter 147: Chapter 147: Politely Refusing Kindness (2) Chapter 147: Chapter 147: Politely Refusing Kindness (2) She didn’t want to cling to the identity of Mrs. Hawkins, no matter how painful and distressing the divorce would be for her. All she wanted now and in the future was to have this baby in her belly.

“Carolline, actually, I’ve scheduled a lot of work for the next few days, so I probably won’t have time to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau with you. How about this – after I’m finished with my work, I’ll find you again, okay?” Bryan Hawkins saw that Carolline wasn’t responding, so he had to propose another solution as a delaying tactic.

Yes, he didn’t want to divorce, not at all. He didn’t know why Carolline suddenly became so determined to divorce him, and he didn’t want to ask, fearing her answer.

“…Alright.” Carolline nodded. She couldn’t believe that the once high and mighty Bryan was now speaking to her in such a humble manner. It took her a while to get used to it.

She didn’t want him to be so humble. She felt that it was normal for her to be the one humbling herself in their relationship, but it didn’t suit him at all.

Neither of them expected that their divorce paperwork would continue to drag on and ultimately, they never got it done. By the time Bryan returned, Carolline had already gone to the countryside with the medical team. When Carolline came back, Bryan started flying all over the world again.

So, they both assumed that they were already divorced, but in reality, they never went through with the paperwork.

“Since you’re busy, you should go back and rest early. I’m tired too.” Carolline had already decided that from now on, she would have a regular lifestyle, for the sake of the baby, she needed a healthy and consistent living routine.

“…” Bryan wanted to say something but ultimately didn’t. There were many things he wanted to say, but now wasn’t the right time. “Alright, good night.”

“Good night.” Carolline said, then got out of the car.

Like before, Carolline watched him drive away and only turned around to go to her single-living apartment after he went around the corner.

As she opened the door, Avery Graham, who lived next door, opened her door as well, smiling cunningly at Carolline. She was speechless, “What are you smiling about like that?”

“I saw everything.” Avery took on the appearance of someone who knew all and wanted Carolline to fess up.

“What are you talking about?” Carolline opened the door and wanted to enter the room. She admitted her own IQ wasn’t enough to understand what Avery meant when she said she ‘saw everything.’

Avery saw Carolline closing the door quickly entered the room. She looked around Carolline’s place and grabbed a bag of potato chips from her coffee table, “So, are you really dating Mr. Hawkins from the Hawkins Family?”

“What makes you think we’re dating?” Carolline didn’t want to talk about her relationship with Bryan. Her heart was once entirely focused on him, but now things had changed, and her priorities had shifted.

“I saw it with both eyes! C’mon, tell me. Or are you two having a secret affair?” Avery munched on potato chips. She had arrived home late and was too exhausted to go to the supermarket, so when she saw Carolline’s snacks, her mouth started to water.

“You’ve been watching too many idol dramas.” Carolline shook her head, speechless. She took the potato chips from the coffee table and some junk food from the refrigerator, put them in a bag, and handed it to Avery, “Take these and eat them. I won’t be eating this stuff anymore. By the way, go back and sleep early, and don’t overthink things. I’m really tired, so let’s talk about it tomorrow if you have something to say.”
