Lucy asked the driver to pick her up in two hours, and she and Carolline went upstairs arm in arm.
Carolline was speechless. Could they really eat for two whole hours? She was planning to go back and catch a nap during her lunch break.
She was increasingly showing signs of pregnancy, becoming very sleepy and tired throughout the day.
“Order whatever you want,” Lucy said, tossing the menu at Carolline.
Carolline didn’t hesitate to order her favorite sweet and sour dishes. Lucy didn’t mind, as her agent had advised her to cut down on spicy foods anyway.
Henry, the main reason Lucy had brought Carolline to lunch today was not to eat, but to discuss some precautions and private matters with her. And Carolline was the only one she could turn to.
Since they weren’t focused on the food, Lucy didn’t pay much attention to the sweet and sour dishes Carolline had ordered. Whatever Carolline ordered, Lucy would eat.
Carolline loved Lucy’s easygoing nature, which kept her from revealing Carolline’s secret. If not for that, Lucy’s gossip would have spread the news far and wide.
Lucy’s carefree attitude had caused her own share of difficulties in her love life, almost causing her to miss out on the most important things.
“Carolline, isn’t Bryan way too popular with women? Have you ever thought about quitting your job as a nurse and becoming his assistant instead? That way, you could follow him wherever he goes,” Lucy said while munching on a cola chicken wing.
Lucy was actually quite dissatisfied with Bryan. Had it not been for Carolline’s liking for him, she would never have allowed them to be together. She felt the same way about her own big brother who was constantly traveling around the world.
Carolline and Bryan were different from her big brother; they would eventually need to get married and start a family. What happiness could a husband who’s always away from his wife offer a woman?
As far as Lucy was concerned, Bryan definitely needed to take responsibility for Carolline, as she had already given herself to him.
Carolline sipped her sour soup and rolled her eyes at Lucy. “Do you think someone with a nursing major can be an assistant?”
It wasn’t that she looked down on herself; she could handle basic computer operations and document editing. But she didn’t want to be cooped up in an office all day working with a computer. She preferred being on her feet in the ward and at the nurse station, helping the patients with their IVs and relieving their pain.
This was her job and also her hobby, and she was fortunate to have combined the two.
“Why not? Let me tell you, Bryan’s manager, Joyce Lopez, comes from a wealthy family. You must have heard of the Lopezes, right?” Lucy finally got to the point, wanting Carolline to be more cautious and not be taken advantage of without realizing it.
It was quite apparent that Joyce was determined to have Bryan for herself. Lucy knew this kind of woman all too well and feared that she would resort to underhanded tactics or even involve their elders to force marriage.
Lucy’s brother, Jordy Wade, had recently been pursued by a woman who leveraged her connections to coerce him into entertaining her.
