Chapter 191 Not a good match

Sarah gave a nod in response.

“Don’t worry. I’m all right,” Renee said, slipping theptop into her handbag.

Sarah embraced Renee, offeringfort for a short while.

As Renee walked from the dorm to the library, she overheard students chatting about Vivian and

    Marcelo.

It felt like she was torturing herself by listening.

Stories of romance in wealthy families, a dashing man and a stunning woman, lovers since childhood, such tales were always fascinating.

Each word of the gossip felt like a knife stabbing Renee’s heart.

The pain forced her to be more conscious.

    ********

Marcelo was aware of Renee’s ss schedule and knew she had no sses, so he thought she would probably sleepte.

He didn’t knock on the door of Renee’s dormitory until half past eight.

He anticipated Renee might be a bit grumpy in the morning. To his surprise, it wasn’t Renee who opened the door.

“Mr. King, your visit is quite an honor,”

Sarah greeted him, her voice oozing sarcasm.

Marcelo’s gaze briefly swept past her, searching for Renee. “Renee hasn’t woken up yet?”

    “She’s already left.”

“Where did she go?” He asked, frowning.

Didn’t he say that he woulde to visit her?

Sarah, with a forced smile, said to Marcelo, “I have no idea.”

“When did you start teaming up with Marvin, Mr. King?” Sarah sneered.

On the way back yesterday, Sarah found it odd. Knowing Marvin’s character, even if he camped out downstairs for three days and nights, the security office shouldn’t have nabbed him as a suspicious

    person.

He could’ve let Vance talk to the security guards, verifying his identity beforehand..

Now, it seemed that Marvin intentionally headed to the security office, not only to trick her into going to collect him but also to engineer a moment for Marcelo to be alone with Renee.

Chapter 191 Not a good match

Unable to extract any info from Sarah, Marcelo exited, dialing Renee.

“Marcelo!” Sarah halted him. “If you don’t value Renee, there are plenty of men who would!”

Luke stood by the alumni dormitory building, witnessing Marcelo descending with a grim expression.

“Go find Renee’s location!” Marcelo instructed.

Luke didn’t dare inquire further. “Yes.”

In the library, Renee nestled into a corner by the window, flipped open herptop, and delved into the data sent from theb.

After a while, someone settled across from her.

She didn’t pay much mind until a cup of coffeended on the table, nudged her way.

“Oh, Howard!” Renee looked up, surprised, finding Howard there.

“What a coincidence, Renee!” Howard smiled.

He had the same coffee brand and hoisted his criminalw book, signaling he was there to hit the

    books.

Renee expressed her gratitude, eyeing the hot, sugar–freette – her favorite. The cup proudly disyed the letters “Renee.”

Neither spoke further, silently engrossed in their studies.

Now and then, fellow students strolled by, spotting Howard and Renee. Some were taken aback, curious gazes following them, while others covered their mouths, sharing mischievous giggles.

Word got around about Howard gifting flowers to Renee, and with the memory of him standing up for her at the school anniversary, the chattering students couldn’t resist spinning their own tales!

Luke tracked down Renee in the library, prompting Marcelo to make a beeline for the same spot. However, he hit a roadblock at the library entrance.

“Sir, our library isn’t open to the public. Only those with a campus or alumni card can enter,” exined the library staff.

Marcelo stood there, lost for words.

Passersby shot curious nces his way as he lingered at the entrance.

Feeling a tad embarrassed, he exited the library and waited in his car for Renee to emerge. Around noon, students gradually vacated the library for lunch.

Reneeb, /bthinking of Howard’s coffee, suggested treating him to a meal.

Exiting the library, Renee immediately sensed something was off.

Chapter 191 Not a good match

A ck Maybach idled on the nearby asphalt road, windows sealed shut with one–way ss concealing the interior.

Yet, Renee felt an intense gaze.

    She recognized the car.

    It belonged to Marcelo.

“Renee, what’s wrong?” Howard wore a puzzled expression when her abruptly halted.

“It’s nothing.” Reneeposed herself and resumed walking.

Almost simultaneously, Marcelo’s ck Maybach roared to life, smoothly circling therge roundabout in front of the library and strategically blocking Renee and Howard’s path.

The window glided down, revealing Marcelo’s face.

Renee shot him a cold stare, maintaining silence.

    The air grew tense.

“Mr. King.” Howard offered a polite nod to Marcelo, then turned to Renee. “Renee, I’ll wait over there for you.”

    Grateful, Renee smiled at him.

Howard’s deliberate avoidance in this moment was the utmost respect and protection he could

    extend to her.

Observing Renee exiting the library with Howard and smiling radiantly at him, Marcelo couldn’t help but feel a surge of irritation and jealousy as she maintained a cold indifference toward him. Before he could speak, Renee beat him to it. “Marcelo, let’s get a divorce.”

    “What? What did you say?”

It hit him like a bolt from the blue.

The surroundings plunged into silence, as if even the wind held its breath.

Marcelo, slow to react, thought he had misheard.

Luke, in the driver’s seat, was shocked to the core, voiding making a sound.

How had he stumbled into yet another dramatic scene?

Was being a subordinate now a challenging upation?

Renee took a shallow breath and continued, “Well.. We didn’t have romantic feelings for each other from the beginning. Our marriage was a result of the engagement between the Hudson and King families. I am willing to step down from the position of Mrs. King. It’s better for both you and me.”

In an effort to find peace of mind, she chose to pass on the title of “Mrs. King” to Vivian. “About the divorce papers…”

Chapter 191 Not a good match

The car door swung open abruptly and Marcelo exited the back seat, grabbing her wrist and abruptly cutting her off.

His fingers unconsciously tightened, his gaze intensely focused on her.

It was Marcelo’s instinctive move, a fear of Renee leaving prompting him to hold onto her.

    “Ouch,” Renee gasped in pain.

Marcelo snapped back to reality, releasing his grip. Renee, is it because I didn’t stayst night? Or because I didn’t immediately agree bto /blet Vivian leave Harvillston?”

He maintained a calm exterior, but turmoil churned within him.

He couldn’t fathom why she suddenly sought a divorce.

Her words irked him to no end.

Renee shook her head. “That’s not why.”

“Then what is it? Because of him?” Marcelo cast a nce at Howard, who stood some distance away, beneath a pomegranate tree, patiently waiting for

    Reneei. /i

The young man exuded youthfulness, vibrancy, and drew attention effortlessly.

“No.” Renee’s voice carried a sense of destion.

Her feelings for him, which were not reciprocated, were the reason for her decision.

She dropped her gaze, shielding the emotions within her. “Marcelo, we’re not a good match. We have to end this marriagei./ii” /i
