Secretly Mine
Chapter 198: Drugged [Christian POV]
CHAPTER 198: DRUGGED [CHRISTIAN POV]
My eyes widened as I noticed the figure in the doorway.
"What are you doing here?" Morgan asked through her teeth. She didn’t try to mask her anger and looked ready to lash out.
Leslie looked into the room, her eyes looking at me with a bit of confusion.
"I...umm, just wanted to hand in my report to CEO Vittoria," she said meekly, holding a small stack of papers.
"Leslie, are you serious? How can you even think of bothering Christian about work when he’s a guest in our house?! Not to mention... ugh!" said Morgan, stomping her foot on the ground like a toddler throwing a tantrum.
Leslie lowered her head, "I’m sorry. I wasn’t thinking." But then she looked up, looking Morgan directly in the eyes, "But what are you doing in here, dear sister?"
Morgan turned around and glanced at me. She bit her bottom lip nervously and hesitated to answer.
"Listen, that doesn’t concern you. It’s not something you would understand anyway," she said, reaching to close the door. "Now, don’t bother Christian and go to bed."
However, Leslie stood firmly in place, not letting Morgan close the door on her.
I watched, frozen on the bed. I was certain that Leslie knew that something was up, and that was why she came by. I wanted to thank her, but my mouth wouldn’t open to let the words out.
"Sister, it will only take a moment. Since I’m already here, can I just give my report to CEO Vittoria? It’s important." Leslie peeked over Morgan’s shoulder, making a momentary eye contact with me.
Morgan continued to stomp her foot, but Leslie’s determination wasn’t broken. She continued to insist on seeing me, driving her sister mad.
"Fine, just hurry up!" Morgan finally relented after a few minutes of heated back and forth. Leslie walked into my bedroom dressed like a nun. Her shoulders, arms, legs, and chest were all covered, leaving no room for any claims of attempted seduction.
She walked towards me, closely inspecting my face. Morgan stood at the doorway, waiting for her to finish.
"CEO Vittoria, here’s the report you asked me to finish. I’m sorry that it took me so long. The data for the 5th was difficult to find," said Leslie, handing me the stack of papers in her hands.
I tried to lift my hand, but could only get it to rise a small distance in front of me. Leslie quickly noticed the oddity in my behavior. Her eyes darkened as she glanced over at Morgan.
The next instant, her face contorted into the perfect picture of worry—wide eyes, drawn brows, even a tiny gasp for effect. If I didn’t know better, I’d think she was terrified.
"Morgan! There’s something wrong! CEO Vittoria looks so pale. We need to call the doctor immediately!"
She dropped the papers on the nightstand on my table and ran out of the room. "Don’t worry! I’ll call someone to get the doctor," she yelled as she ran into the hallway.
"No! What are you doing?!" Morgan yelled, running out of the room behind her.
I closed my eyes.
Thank you, Leslie.
The door to my room was still open, and I could still hear the sounds of Leslie causing a ruckus. My heart warmed. I owed her so much for helping me out like this.
A few minutes later, an older man walked in sleepily, holding a medical bag. "Excuse me, sir, I’ve been told that you weren’t feeling well."
I still had a hard time opening my mouth, so I blinked at him to come in. His sleepiness quickly went away as he realized the strangeness in my behavior.
He walked over and looked into my eyes with a small medical flashlight. "This isn’t good. At least it’s not extremely dangerous."
The doctor did another set of examinations, testing the response of my muscles.
"Don’t worry. You’re going to be fine. I suspect that the feeling will return to you in a few minutes. I’m going to leave this packet of medicine for you right here. Take it as soon as the feeling returns; it’ll help with the second part of the drug’s effects."
Second part?
"Try lifting your hand," he said, watching me closely.
I lifted my hand, thinking it would be as difficult as it was when Leslie came over, but it was surprisingly easier.
"Good, looks like the effects are wearing off. Call for me if there are any other issues, and remember to take that medicine."
I nodded my head lightly and watched him leave my bedroom. Just as he stepped into the hallway, he turned around and looked at me. "Oh, and it’s better if you don’t try and hold it in. It’s not good for your kidneys."
Hold it in? What is he talking about?
After the door closed, I sat on the bed for a few minutes more. I was relieved that after each passing moment, I was able to regain more and more sensation in my body.
It still took about five or six minutes before I could stand up, and when I did, I felt a strange warmth spreading from my naval.
Odd, is this the other effect that the doctor mentioned?
I looked at the packet of medicine on the nightstand. After what had happened, I was a lot more wary of taking anything anyone from this household tells me to. However, it was Leslie who sent this doctor to me.
I quickly lifted the packet of medicine and downed it in one go, downing a glass of water with it. While I was regaining control of my body, my mind was still a hazy mess. And the warmth that started to spread only made it worse.
The warmth quickly started to turn into a fiery heat, becoming increasingly more uncomfortable.
"Maybe I should take a cold shower to cool off," I mumbled as I paced around the room. A moment later, I ended up in the bathroom, standing under the cold water without bothering to take my clothes off first.
