Seven Sins System Chapter 438. Similar

I froze in place, my mind reeling from the revelation. A deep frown etched itself onto my forehead. I tried to process what I had just heard.

"What was that?" I muttered in confusion, the words slipping out before I could stop them.

The voice, so eerily similar to mine, reverberated in my mind, speaking in the ancient demon language. It shattered my previous assumption that a mortal was behind this. If the voice was truly that of a fellow demon, then the situation was far more complicated—and dangerous—than I had imagined.

How could another demon find a way to penetrate the gate between realms and connect with this mortal realm?

The barriers were supposed to be impenetrable. And yet, here were these demons, summoned and directed by someone—or something—with a voice that mirrored my own.

The roar snapped my attention back to the two demons. Their grotesque forms thrashed against my telekinetic hold, but a new plan formed in my mind. Since they only understood orders, maybe I could use that to my advantage.

“Li aba kin! Es to nor! (I am your master! Listen to my orders!)” I commanded, my voice filled with authority.

They stopped. The struggling ceased, and their shrieks faded into silence. Their red eyes fixed on me.

For a brief moment, it seemed as though my ploy had worked. They appeared to be considering my words, and evaluating my claim.

But the moment was fleeting. Not long after, their eyes darkened with fury once more, and they went berserk again, thrashing and snarling as they tried to break free and attack me.

“Ni aba kin! (Not our master!)” they shouted.

I gritted my teeth in frustration. “But you said you only understand orders!” I grumbled, my annoyance growing.

“Khh!” I grunted, my patience wearing thin. The tips of my tentacles morphed into mouths filled with razor-sharp teeth. With one swift movement, the tentacles lunged forward, snatching their bodies with a predatory precision. The demons’ eyes widened in terror as the tentacles began to devour them alive.

Their screams filled the air as the teeth sank into their flesh, tearing and ripping with merciless efficiency.

Blood and viscera splattered across the ground, the metallic scent mingling with the acrid stench of demonic energy. I watched the scene unfold with a cold, detached gaze.

Every bite, every crunch of bone and sinew, was a cure for my frustration. These demons were nothing but pawns, their limited intelligence and blind obedience making them more of a nuisance than a threat. Yet they had been sent by someone who knew me, someone who shared my voice and my power.

As the last remnants of their bodies were consumed, I let out a slow, controlled breath. The dark energy of my tentacles receded, the mouths closing as they returned to their original form. The ground was stained with the remnants of the demons.

I turned to Puriel, who stood silently by my side.

"Don't you want to ask what I got from them?" I asked, my voice breaking the stillness.

"No," she replied simply, her gaze unwavering. "From your reaction, I knew you were just getting another mystery."

Her words took me by surprise. It was rare for her to grasp the situation without pushing me for answers, but she understood the situation just from my demeanor.

"Great! I don't need to explain anymore," I stated, turning my gaze back to the front.

“Greed,” I muttered under my breath, summoning another of my powers. My five tentacles separated from my back, morphing into shadow wolves that slipped silently into the darkness. Their sleek forms moved with a predatory grace, their eyes glowing with an eerie light as they spread out across the area. They were hunting, not for prey, but for the summoning formation that was usually used to call demons like the ones we had just faced.

I watched as the wolves dispersed, their dark figures melding into the shadows of the park. This tactic had always been effective before; the summoning formations were usually hidden but not invisible. They left traces, energy signatures, or blood. But this time, something was different.

Minutes passed. My wolves searched every inch of the park, their senses finely tuned to the slightest disturbance.

Puriel moved alongside me. She extended her divine energy, a golden light that swept through the park, seeking any trace of the summoning formation. But like my wolves, she found nothing.

“No summoning formation…” I muttered after our fruitless search for half an hour. The frustration was mounting, but surprisingly, Puriel remained silent. She didn’t seem confused or perturbed by the absence of the formation, which struck me as odd. It indicated she had encountered this situation before.

I glanced at her, suspicion creeping into my thoughts. “You don’t seem confused by this,” I said, clearly accusing her of holding back information.

“This has happened before. Twice,” she stated calmly, but her eyes betrayed a deeper worry.

“Twice?” I repeated, a frown creasing my forehead.

She nodded, her expression grave. “Twice for demon cases. And three times for angel cases…” Her voice grew quieter, the worry evident.

Her confession shocked me. ‘Does that mean… the summoners are targeting us both?’ I thought. The implications were staggering.
