Shadow and Light: The Bride Who Clicks Her Way to Love
Chapter 222 - 224: Waiting for You to Become Chief
CHAPTER 222: CHAPTER 224: WAITING FOR YOU TO BECOME CHIEF
He lifted her hand to his lips and left a kiss, "If you’re really exhausted, just rest here properly. I’ll get another photographer from headquarters."
She paused for a moment, "What do you mean?"
"It’s always busy at Hanyu here, what you experienced today is just the norm for the next two weeks—or to put it another way, they actually eased the workload for you today because you just got off a plane," Lu Shifeng explained, his tone as calm as discussing the weather. Actually, even with such a workload, hers was nothing compared to his; when he was busiest, he slept only two to three hours a day.
Su Xingyu understood his meaning, feeling like he was belittling her as incapable!
"I can manage, no need to replace me," she protested, "Lu Shifeng, am I so weak in your eyes that I can’t even handle this little thing?"
Lu Shifeng: "Who was just complaining about being busy at work?"
Su Xingyu: "..." She realized that complaining about work to this man was a dead end! Did he even understand the concept of work being tiring? Clearly, work made him happy!
How do you stay together with such differing viewpoints...
Then Lu Shifeng continued, "You’re the first to complain about work in front of me without being reassigned or fired; my employment principle has always been meritocracy."
... Meritocracy my ass!
Su Xingyu gritted her teeth and smiled, "Lu Shifeng, just give it up, do you believe there’s no better photographer than me at the whole Fang Ren photography center? What kind of joke is Zhuang Heng being the chief photographer? You must not have cared about that place in a while, how could someone like her be the chief over me?"
"Ambitious," Lu Shifeng nodded, quite seriously, "If you can replace her as the chief, I’ll promote you and give you a raise."
"If I can replace her, how about you kick her out of Fang Ren?" Su Xingyu had a quick idea, proposing a condition.
"You really have a big prejudice against her."
"She’s someone from the Zhuang Family, she’ll leave Fang Ren sooner or later, what difference does it make whether sooner or later?" The more Su Xingyu thought about it, the more feasible her idea seemed, "Lu Shifeng, haven’t you heard, ’Two tigers cannot live on one mountain’? As the future chief, there’s no way I can coexist peacefully with her! Either she leaves, or I leave!"
"Are you threatening me?" He narrowed his eyes dangerously.
Under his unfathomable gaze, Su Xingyu, who was originally ambitious, instantly regained her composure, shrank her neck, and said in a small voice, "I... I didn’t."
Lu Shifeng looked down at her obviously guilty yet defiant expression, and couldn’t help but let a faintly discernible arc curl up on his thin lips. This little wife of his was really likable. He reached out to unbutton his suit, while taking off his coat and tie, saying to her, "Come to me with conditions when you become a tiger."
"Ah, tiger?"
"Two tigers cannot live on one mountain, hmm?"
She blinked, a sense of joy suddenly flashed in her heart—wow, there’s hope!
Lu Shifeng didn’t reject her request, which meant that if she really became the chief photographer one day, she might be able to drive out Zhuang Heng!
Her smile grew larger, and she said delightedly, "Lu Shifeng, you’re really nice."
Lu Shifeng had already taken off his coat, was reaching to unbutton his shirt, and lifted his chin, "Turn on the water, shower."
"Oh." Immersed in joy, Su Xingyu didn’t think much and went into the bathroom, turned on the faucet to fill the white spacious bathtub, when halfway through, she was suddenly hugged from behind and fell into a familiar and solid embrace. "Lu, Lu Shifeng!" She gasped in shock, wanting to look back at him.
He was bare-chested, leaning down to undo her clothes, commanding, "Don’t move."
"What, what are you doing?!" She panicked, twisted a few times, suddenly a sense of ominous foreboding rose in her heart—he, he wouldn’t be thinking of bathing with her, right?!
Sure enough, Lu Shifeng skillfully undid her clothes, then deftly took off her bra, and carried her into the bathtub sideways.
"Aren’t you tired," he said matter-of-factly, gazing at her as she lay half submerged in the clear water, looking alluringly enticing, his voice hoarse, "I’ll wash you."
"No, no need... really no need," Su Xingyu was about to cry, what does it mean to go from joy to dismay? This is what it means to go from joy to dismay!
"I can do it myself... Lu Shifeng! Really, I can do it myself...! ...Ah... hmm..."
In the bathroom, as steam filled the air, her voice gradually softened.
Su Xingyu felt that this must be the worst business trip she had ever had, tormented by those maniacs at Hanyu Research Center during the day, so busy there wasn’t even time to drink water or go to the bathroom, and at night, having to deal with certain BOSS’s insatiable demands, was there any overtime pay or work injury compensation? Boo hoo hoo...
She just couldn’t understand, clearly that certain BOSS seemed busier than she was, how could he have so much energy?
Everyone envied her for being able to travel with the BOSS, but only she was inwardly lamenting, who would want to travel with this perverted beast! Damn it!
She spent two whole weeks in resentment.
She barely survived until the project ended, and the people at Hanyu Research Center were quite impressed with Su Xingyu: "Xingyu, this cooperation over the past weeks has been very pleasant. You’re much better than the previous photographer sent from headquarters. We hope you’ll come again if there’s an opportunity; if it’s you, it would definitely greatly benefit the development of our optical system."
Su Xingyu smiled brightly, hurriedly modest.
She suddenly felt again that Hanyu was a pretty good place; the people here said she was more capable than Zhuang Heng!
Bidding farewell to them, just like how she arrived, she and certain big BOSS boarded a plane on their way back.
She was really exhausted over these two weeks, and fell asleep shortly after boarding the plane.
In her slumber, she was suddenly awakened by a loud noise, followed by an abrupt feeling of weightlessness, as if falling from ten thousand meters high.
She screamed, "Lu Shifeng!"
Instinctively reaching out to grab his hand beside her, he caught it firmly.
That sudden weightlessness had already ended, but the plane was violently jolting, like a boat in a storm, with many items in the overhead compartments falling out, scattered all over the floor.
From the rear business class and economy class came passengers’ screams and cries.
Su Xingyu’s first reaction was that the plane had a malfunction, instinctively turned her head to look at Lu Shifeng, her voice even trembling, "What happened?"
In the cold white light of first class, Lu Shifeng’s expression was severe, yet his voice was calm, "It’s okay, I’m here."
As he said this, his eagle-sharp eyes were fixed on the direction of the cockpit, and when he saw a pale-faced stewardess come out from there, he called out to ask, "What’s going on?"
