CHAPTER 71: CHAPTER 72: REDEMPTION ON A RAINY NIGHT

She didn’t have time to think much; the urgent task was to get out of danger.

Ignoring Su Xingqi’s bewilderment, she said bluntly to Mr. Chen: "I want to go out, right now, immediately!"

Mr. Chen’s forehead was covered in greasy sweat. He continuously said yes, nodding and bowing as he prepared to escort her out, but suddenly his expression changed: "Miss Su, on your body..." He felt awkward, loudly scolding his son, "You unfilial son! Hurry and get a piece of clothing for Miss Su!"

Only then did Su Xingyu realize that her clothes had become a mess from the recent struggle, torn in several places.

Uneasily, she pulled her clothes up, carefully using her arms to cover herself.

Mr. Chen’s son was quite bewildered: "Huh? Oh."

Glancing around, he handed the intact jacket beside his bed to Su Xingyu.

Su Xingyu stepped back with distaste, saying coldly, "No need."

Wear this lecher’s jacket? Disgusting, she’d rather go out like this!

Mr. Chen also felt his son had been too offensive and scolded him again: "Get out! How can’t you even do such a small task? What’s the point of you? Get out!"

Seeing his father’s rage, Mr. Chen’s son quickly covered his groin, enduring the pain, and ran out of the bedroom in a hurry.

Mr. Chen’s eyes swept over the others present, and he walked over to Su Xingqi, ordering roughly: "Miss Su Xingqi, please take off your jacket and give it to Miss Su Xingyu."

"Why?!" Su Xingqi cried out sharply, as if she were a cat with its tail stepped on.

Mr. Chen looked at Mr. Su: "Su Zhongxiao, you’ve caused our Chen Family such trouble, what’s wrong with asking your daughter for a piece of clothing? Know your place and have her take it off, or don’t blame me for being rude!"

Mr. Su frowned deeply: "Mr. Chen, what’s going on? Don’t forget Qiqi is the Qin Family’s designated daughter-in-law!"

Mr. Chen sneered several times. The Qin Family’s designated daughter-in-law? Not to mention Su Xingqi and Qin Mu haven’t even held their engagement ceremony yet, even if they did and married, how can a mere Qin Family’s second young madam compare with someone like Su Xingyu! This Su Zhongxiao is really laughable, ignoring the illustrious eldest daughter right in front of him and allowing the second daughter who lacks in every aspect to offend everyone!

He stopped wasting words with Mr. Su and directly reached out, tearing off Su Xingqi’s jacket!

"Stop this!"

"You’re too much! Give me back my jacket!"

The Su Family members cried out.

Mr. Chen completely ignored them and carried the jacket over to Su Xingyu, respectfully saying to her: "Miss Su, please make do with this jacket for now."

Make do?

Su Xingqi was furious to the point her face looked off-color. This jacket was newly bought just a few days ago, the most trendy style of the season, worth tens of thousands! But what did that odious Mr. Chen say? Did he think this was some kind of rag from the street?!

She was already furious, but Su Xingyu stubbornly refused to even make do.

Su Xingyu waved her hand away with disdain, her tone icy: "Her things, I find dirty."

Then, still covering her slightly torn clothes with her hand, she walked outside.

Mr. Chen, embarrassed, tossed the jacket onto the ground like a rag and chased after her.

"You guys are too much!" Su Xingqi stamped her foot in anger, crying out.

However, there was no response in the empty corridor; no one paid her any mind.

"Dad, what on earth is going on?!" Su Xingqi fretted, continuously blaming her father, "Didn’t you say everything was arranged? Why are the Chen Family acting this way towards us? Once I’m married into the Qin Family, I’ll definitely make them pay!"

Mr. Su’s expression was also dark: "Something must have happened, Chen Er clearly valued Xingyu, why did Mr. Chen suddenly change his mind? Qiqi, you just said she married Ouyang Yi, could that be true?"

"How could it..." Su Xingqi murmured, unwilling to believe.

Over there, Liu Meizhi called out: "Look!"

She was standing by the window, pointing outside. In the rain, beyond the small villa was a dimly lit garden where someone was holding a flashlight, walking along the path out of the garden, flickering in the murky light, seemingly Mr. Chen escorting Su Xingyu.

Su Xingyu clenched her pale hands around herself.

The rain brushed against her, cold and biting. But colder than the rain was her heart. Her family, whom she once trusted, repeatedly breaking her limits, in the vast darkness, she suddenly felt like a lone helpless leaf in this cold world, spinning in the dark, struggling amidst the storm, without knowing where to go.

Step by step she walked, reaching the garden’s entrance.

She raised her head, seeing two rows of dim streetlights stretching into the distance, as the rain poured more heavily.

"Miss Su, Miss Su, it’s really my fault, I didn’t bring an umbrella," Mr. Chen turned off the flashlight, took off his jacket, and tried to pass it to her, trembling with fear, "Please at least use this to cover your head; it’s such cold weather, don’t get soaked."

She glanced at him: "Do you know who I am?"

Mr. Chen was taken aback, realizing what she meant, and nodded humbly, "I’m truly sorry, it’s all our fault for not investigating in advance, not knowing you’re already married to..."

Before he finished speaking, a black Bentley appeared at the corner of the street illuminated by lights, followed by a few other black sedans, the cold metallic sheen glistening like ghosts in the dark, rainy night.

The cars moved swiftly and soon arrived before them.

The car made a sharp stop, and the doors of the following cars opened simultaneously as over a dozen tall, imposing bodyguards in black suits stepped out. With murderous looks, they encircled the garden’s entrance.

Then, the door of the leading Bentley opened.

The white-gloved driver emerged from the cockpit and bowed, opening the back door.

A bodyguard went to the car door and opened a large black umbrella.

From the car’s back seat, walked out a man in a black suit, white shirt, tall and lean with an icy demeanor like eternal frost. The rain flowed over his face, dampening his conspicuous features as his sharp, narrow eyes pierced coldly through the night, rendering the scene silent, everything subdued.

Su Xingyu stared at him blankly.

Indeed, it was him.

It was him who came, Lu Shifeng.

In her most terrified and helpless moment, it was him who appeared before her with an overwhelming force, rescuing her.

She stood silently in the rain, forgetting how the drizzle soaked her through, just watching him greedily, afraid that if she blinked, he would vanish, afraid that this salvation would turn into dreamlike ashes.

Lu Shifeng walked to her step by step, lowered his head, and looked at her.

His tall figure shielded her from the wind and rain outside, the streetlights dim, the world quiet.
