Chapter 28: The Habit of Not Taking Responsibility After Getting Out of Bed Hasn’t Changed
CHAPTER 28: CHAPTER 28: THE HABIT OF NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY AFTER GETTING OUT OF BED HASN’T CHANGED
She wasn’t crying! What does she have to cry about, anyway? Is Lin Shihan worth her tears?
"I’m fine," Su Wanxin denied, rubbing her uncomfortable eyes and thinking it necessary to buy some eye drops after work. "Let’s talk about the dinner another time."
Male colleagues: ...
Still claiming it’s nothing, look how distressed she is, she can’t even eat.
Without waiting for Su Wanxin’s defense, her colleagues had already branded her with the label "bullied into tears," feeling pity for her.
Although Su Wanxin also got her job through backdoor connections, she was unlike Lin Shihan.
She was good-natured and competent, and after only two days, she had already garnered quite a following. Especially after resolving Alex’s crisis today, everyone felt like giving her a round of applause.
Seeing their pitiful looks towards her, Su Wanxin really wanted to cry out and make Lin Shihan unable to raise her head in the company in the future. But alas, her acting skills were limited, so she gave up the thought.
The atmosphere in the room was suffocating. Su Wanxin thought to get some air in the corridor to readjust before returning to work. But upon leaving, she saw a familiar figure at the end of the hallway.
Fu Shihan stood there smoking, his eyes looking in this direction. Through the faint smoke, he spotted Su Wanxin.
Su Wanxin hadn’t expected him to be here, nor did she know when he had arrived. Slightly stunned, she locked eyes with him until he beckoned her over softly.
"Why are you here?" Su Wanxin asked in a low voice as she approached him.
"Sheng Qian wants to buy financial products for investment, I came with her."
Su Wanxin turned to look at President Chen’s office. "Is President Chen in a meeting?"
"Uh-huh, I asked him to count it as part of your performance."
After hearing this, Su Wanxin couldn’t help but smile, her lips pursed as she looked at Fu Shihan, "I really should thank President Fu then, not only for getting me this job but also for boosting my performance."
Fu Shihan extinguished his cigarette, his eyes softening. Seeing her slightly reddened eyes, he frowned slightly, "You’ve been crying?"
"...Why do you think so too?"
Su Wanxin covered her stomach with one hand, wanting to go to the restroom to look in the mirror. Was she really that pitiable for everyone to assume she had been crying?
Her face was pale, but she was unaware. Fu Shihan, seeing her as if she were sick, instinctively raised his hand to check her forehead temperature but she stepped back to avoid his touch.
His hand paused mid-air, and a flash of annoyance crossed Fu Shihan’s eyes. He grabbed Su Wanxin’s arm, and the next second, he pulled her into his embrace.
"I’m not going to do anything to you, what are you avoiding?"
Su Wanxin bumped into his chest, the sudden closeness sending a shiver through her heart, causing a hidden ache.
Fu Shihan looked down, observing her closely, then asked, "Is your stomach hurting again? Didn’t eat anything at noon?"
"Let go of me."
"When I’m not by your side, is this how you take care of yourself?"
Su Wanxin gritted her teeth, containing her emotions.
She wasn’t someone who cried easily; she had never been. After returning, she hadn’t cried when misunderstood, or when Shen Xiaochen ridiculed and slapped her face, nor did she feel so wronged that she wanted to cry when Lin Shihan framed her and spilled water on an important client.
But now, just a light word from him made her eyes well up, and she couldn’t help wanting to cry.
"How I take care of myself is none of your business," Su Wanxin took a deep breath and pushed him away. "Mr. Fu, please behave yourself."
"It’s none of my business?" Fu Shihan said with a mocking smile. "When you were lying beneath me, crying from the pain I caused you, is that what you said too? Su Wanxin, this habit of yours, not acknowledging things after getting out of bed, really hasn’t changed."
