CHAPTER 31: CHAPTER 31: THE LITTLE PITIFUL SISTER-IN-LAW (PART 1)

Beau Shelby received the news and rushed over.

Claire North, upon seeing Beau, immediately broke down and threw herself into his arms.

"Beau, you’ve finally come, Grandpa... Grandpa... boo hoo..."

"Claire, don’t worry, I already know what happened." Beau gently comforted Claire, then turned his gaze to Raina across the room, his handsome brows furrowed. "Is there some misunderstanding about this?"

Beau grew up with Raina since childhood; he knew her character well and understood the affection she had for Old Master North. For anyone to suggest that Raina intentionally harmed the old man for the company, Beau wouldn’t believe a word.

Claire, who was sobbing in Beau’s arms, stiffened, her face showing a trace of surprise.

Beau’s eyebrows furrowed even more tightly: "Raina was raised by Old Master North from a young age; I believe she’s not that kind of person."

"Brother Shelby, you’re Claire’s fiancé, how can you keep defending Raina? Are you being fair to Claire?"

Claire lowered her head, with a look of sadness on her face.

Beau realized he shouldn’t overly protect Raina: "I’m just trying to understand the truth." He looked towards Raina, "Raina, what exactly happened?"

Unable to bear seeing Raina becoming the center of accusations, Beau offered her a way to explain.

However, Raina had no intention of accepting his help.

"See, Brother Shelby? She’s acting guilty, speechless." Evelyn jumped up angrily.

Beau’s face darkened slightly.

"Raina, I know you’re still thinking about the past, but now is not the time to be stubborn."

Raina looked at Beau with ridicule: "Beau Shelby, do you take yourself too seriously? What right do you have to stand here and question me?"

Beau said deeply, "Raina, I’m doing this for your good!"

Raina chuckled: "Then thank you, thank your whole family. I barely survived, and your ’goodness’, I can’t handle it."

"Sister, how can you talk to Beau like that? Beau is trying to help you." Claire interjected cleverly, putting on her acting skills.

"That’s why I thanked his whole family." See, she’s so polite.

"Incredible! You girl, do you have any reason left?’ Gareth North, who had been silent, walked over with the police, "Officers, it’s her, it’s Raina, murder for money, she killed my dad."

"Raina, right? You’re suspected of harming Mr. Owen North; please come with us."

Gideon North, as Raina’s father, looked utterly pained.

"Raina, Dad believes in your innocence, but this involves your grandfather’s life. You should go with the officers, and Dad will find out the truth and visit you soon."

Gideon wasn’t genuinely intent on arresting Raina; it was just that the old man suddenly handed the company over to her without saying a word, and the girl married into The Hawthorne Family; in the future, she’d be wealthy and powerful, how could he manipulate her then?

Better to let the second son and others act up first, wait for Raina to be trapped in a predicament, then step in and play the good father.

He calculated shrewdly but unfortunately, Raina wasn’t a fool either.
