Whenever Old Mrs. Hawthorne thought of those past events, her heart felt heavy. She said to Aunt Rivers, "Tell Raina about those past events so she has an understanding. I’ll go upstairs to check on Jasper."

Aunt Rivers complied, and after sending Old Mrs. Hawthorne upstairs, she returned to briefly recount the Hawthorne Family’s history from years ago.
