CHAPTER 681: 【675】QUEEN OF THE APOCALYPSE 11 (3 MORE UPDATES)
Zhu Li hadn’t been unconscious for long before her instinct to survive overcame her, because the place she had crashed into was indoors, and if it was indoors, there would be zombies. Relying on this willpower, she woke up in less than an hour. However, the scene she woke to made her pupils dilate suddenly, and her body instinctively moved backward.
Because in front of her, there really was a zombie. His eyes were gray and white, he looked very handsome, and his skin was terrifyingly pale. Moreover, unlike the other zombies, he was very clean—there wasn’t a single trace of blood on him, nor did he smell at all. If it weren’t for his eyes and the obvious color of his skin, he might pass for a normal person.
Her hand was stabbed by glass, causing her pain. She wanted to stand up, but with a broken leg, she could only crawl toward the side.
It was then that the zombie approached her. Nervous, she picked up a piece of glass shard: "You, don’t come over," she warned.
"Ha..." Strangely, why did the zombie make such a gentle sound? It wasn’t intimidating at all and didn’t look scary.
She looked around and saw that he was the only one in the room. The room’s decor was spotless, suggesting that this man must have been very clean before his death.
She hid under a table, leaning against the wall. The pain all over her body made her feel nothing when facing the zombie.
"You fool, if it wanted to hurt you, it would have bitten you already. Why would it wait for you to wake up?"
Just then, Liang Tian’s voice lazily came from the space. Zhu Li was startled, and upon thinking carefully, she wondered, right, why hadn’t the zombie attacked her?
Suddenly, there was a "thud thud thud" of knocking from outside the door, and it seemed to be mixed with Baozi’s voice.
"It’s Brother Baozi, he’s come to rescue me."
The zombie, who had been staring at her unwaveringly, turned his gaze toward the door upon hearing this. Just as Zhu Li wondered if he could understand human speech, he suddenly turned and stepped toward the door.
Zhu Li struggled to stand up, supported herself with the couch, and dragged her injured leg toward the door. She saw with her own eyes the zombie helping Baozi open the door.
Outside, Baozi was still fighting with the zombies. With a ’ha’ roar from the zombie, those that had been lunging at Baozi suddenly stopped, as if they were frightened, and scrambled away in a panic.
Zhu Li’s eyes widened in disbelief, as if she had witnessed something incredible. Baozi, finally coming to his senses, noticed that the one who had opened the door for him was a zombie.
Just as he raised an iron rod to swing at the zombie, the usually passive zombie suddenly changed when this person attacked. He raised his hand, easily blocking the attack and not only that, he directly grabbed him, pulled him inside with a clang, and shut the door. Then he looked at her, as if reminding her, perhaps she should explain something?
Baozi also noticed that something was amiss. Not only had the zombie not hurt him, but it had also just spoken to scare the other zombies off. What exactly was this, a human or a zombie?
"Bro, are you alright? He, he seems quite strange. He didn’t hurt me while I was unconscious."
Hearing Zhu Li’s voice, joy instantly spread across Baozi’s face, "Lili, I’m fine, but what about you, Sky, you’re injured?"
Zhu Li tried to move toward him, but Baozi quickly got up to support her.
"You’ve bled a lot, no, we need to find the others and regroup quickly."
’Clunk,’ a sound rang out, and two people turned their heads at the same time, only to see a zombie had placed the medicine box on the couch. Then, with a pair of innocent eyes, it stared blankly at them. Zhu Li was finally certain of something, "Can you understand what we’re saying?"
The zombie nodded. Zhu Li asked again, "Are you human, or a zombie? If you’re human, nod twice; if you’re a zombie, nod once."
However, it hesitated, not nodding at all, as if even it didn’t know whether it was human or a zombie.
Zhu Li pursed her lips, tilted her head, and pondered for a moment before asking, "Do you have the clear cognition of a human, but your body has undergone a mutation, only you’re not quite like those other zombies?"
This time, it nodded emphatically, and Zhu Li and Baozi looked at each other with disbelief.
"Can you believe this freak occurrence? He might just be the only non-normal human we’ve come across for so long, and the zombies from before seemed quite scared of him. Could it be that this is the legendary Advanced Zombie?"
"But that doesn’t seem quite right either, as Advanced Zombies are still zombies that will attack humans. But he obviously doesn’t, and he’s even helped us. This really is an oddity."
Now with the medicine box, Baozi quickly tended to her wounds. Looking at the sky, it was about to get dark; they had to leave quickly to find the others or else, for their sake, the rest would surely face more difficulties.
Baozi carried her on his back, ready to leave, when the zombie followed them. Zhu Li turned her head to look at it, "We’re leaving."
It stepped forward, opened the door for them, and even scared off the zombies in the corridor. From the looks of it, did it intend to follow them?
Zhu Li rubbed her eyes, "Bro, he seems to want to protect us. Should we bring him with us?"
Baozi was also uncertain, "Let’s take him for now, and see what Eldest says."
Under the protection of this nameless zombie, they managed to meet up with Reyas and the others before nightfall.
In the RV, within the dim, cramped space, the nameless zombie was positioned at the step by the door, and everyone else looked at him with scrutinizing gazes.
"No way, we can’t keep him. What if he evolves? It would be the end of all of us!"
Meng Zhonghua felt that the creature’s potential for being out of control was too great, and was thus not willing to take the risk, even though he had saved their people.
Reyas also thought it was unreliable. Everyone else had objections, and Zhu Li didn’t know what to say either, only looking apologetically at him.
"Why don’t you leave? We, we can’t take you with us."
The nameless zombie looked steadily at Zhu Li. After a moment, without a word, he stepped off the vehicle, not lingering for an instant. But when Reyas and the others went back to their vehicle, they saw that he had stayed beside the car, with no intention of leaving.
"Captain, he... he’s quite persistent, seems to listen to Lili specially well. I heard from Baozi, he even prepared a medicine box for them. This guy is quite considerate. When Zhu Li was unconscious, because there were glass shards everywhere, he dared not move her, worrying his blood might be problematic and infect her. I think he might really be different from those creatures."
Reyas’ lips tightened, "Then let’s observe for a few more days. If there truly is no harm, then having him with us can be a form of protection."
