She Took The House The Car And My Heart
Chapter 1198
?Chapter 1198:
“I won’t keep you two any longer, or Ellis might start sulking,” Kendra said as she held Freya’s hand. “Come visit whenever you can. I’ll prepare all your favorite dishes.”
“I would love that,” Freya replied, her eyes shining with genuine joy.
Not long after, Caldwell showed up in person to pick up Kendra. Freya and Ellis stood and watched the car pull away, only heading back inside once the taillights disappeared.
A little after 5 p.m., Ethan called. The reason was simple—he wanted to let Ellis know about his uing wedding.
After hearing the location, Ellis responded tly, “I can’t make it.”
“Why not?”
“I’m not allowed to leave the country freely for the next two years.”
“Didn’t you go abroadst time?”
“That trip was under a special application,” Ellis replied, still holding a quiet grudge over the half-truths that had been told. “I can’t apply twice in one year.”
“It’s my wedding. Alyssa and I are getting married—are you seriously noting?”
“Noting. Congrattions and best wishes.” Ellis said before hanging up.
“Damn it!” Ethan cursed, turning to Alyssa in frustration. “Alyssa, Ellis isn’ting!”
“Serves you right. Last time, when you told Caldwell about their proposal, you left out that Ellis was proposing too,” Alyssa replied, not missing a beat. “This is what they call karma.”
Ethan blinked. Was that really his fault? He had just wanted Ellis to get chewed out a little when he got home.
As all this spun in his mind, he bombarded Ellis with messages. Ellis ignored thempletely.
When he saw Freya quietly slip into their room, he stashed his phone away and followed.
He needed to ask her something: why, over the past few nights, had she not let him sleep beside her? Spending the day with Kendra was fine, but not even letting him stay at night? That crossed the line.

Freya felt a flicker of unease when sheid eyes on Ellis, and her voice wavered with a trace of guilt as she said, “Why are you up here?”
“You owe me an exnation.”
Freya blinked, bewildered.
“I want to know why we’ve been sleeping aparttely.” Ellis leaned forward, both hands pressing onto the table, effectively caging her in his arms. Kendra had stayed over for five days altogether. And for four of those nights, he’d been told to sleep alone. In other words, he’d been left out in the cold for four full nights and days.
Freya’s clear eyes widened slightly. “I did it for your own good.”
“Then tell me—how exactly is it for my own good?” Ellis leaned in a little closer, so near he could feel the warmth of her breath. “If you can’t exin it properly, you’ll need topensate me for the four days I lost.”
