CHAPTER 1625: WARM WELCOME

With everyone gathered, we all headed off to help the Mofu Mofu Kingdom.

With the gnomes and the sea witches gathered, there was no need for me to follow them.

But I couldn’t help feeling that something was off about all of this.

That was why I went along with them.

It was just that when we arrived at the coast, we received quite the ’warm’ welcome.

"Come down or else we have no choice but to shoot."

This came from the demi humans on the ground that were pointing their bows at us.

When this happened, I couldn’t help looking at Vanilla and Chocola who had come with us.

After all, they should have already sent word ahead of time that we would be coming. Or else there was no doubt that one would think that this was some kind of invasion force with how many of us were here.

Vanilla and Chocola had awkward looks on their faces, showing that they realized that they made a mistake.

That was why the two of them suddenly jumped down from the wyverns that they were on and flew down towards the demi humans on the ground. Even though we weren’t that high up, we were still high up enough that it was considered dangerous to jump down like this.

Or it would have been considered dangerous if not for the strengthened physique that the demi humans had.

Every race had one advantage that they possessed that allowed them to fight the other races.

In the case of the demi humans, it was their strengthened physical capabilities that came from them possessing animal traits.

For cat demi humans like Vanilla and Chocola, this came in the form of them being able to land on their feet like cats did.

When they landed on the ground, they quickly started talking to the demi humans that were there.

The demi humans that had pointed bows were surprised to see Vanilla and Chocola, but it also seemed like they recognized the two of them as they put their bows down. It also seemed like they were doubtful of what Vanilla and Chocola said at first, but eventually they looked up at us with curiosity instead of wariness.

Vanilla and Chocola also turned back to wave at us to land.

When we came down, the first thing that I asked was, "Did you forget to mention that we would be coming by wyvern?"

Both Vanilla and Chocola jolted when they heard this.

Even without an answer, that was enough to answer my question.

I couldn’t help shaking my head and giving a sigh before turning to the leader of the group of demi humans that pointed their bows at us to say, "I’m sorry for scaring you like that."

The leader revealed a faint smile before he said, "Don’t worry about it, it’s not your fault. It seems like we hadn’t received all of the information that we should have received, which was what caused this misunderstanding."

Bitter looks appeared on Vanilla and Chocola’s face when they heard this, but neither of us cared about this.

I just looked at the leader with a smile before reaching a hand out towards him.

Without hesitation, the leader took my hand and shook it.

After that one misunderstanding, they led us back to their village.

The leader of this group was the chief of this village, so it wasn’t a problem for us to enter the village with our wyverns when the chief brought us here. In fact, the demi humans were quite bold as they started surrounding the wyverns since they had never seen wyverns up close like this before.

They also surrounded us since they had never really encountered humans before.

It seemed like there were all kinds of questions that they wanted to ask about us, but the chief stopped them as he led us into the main building of the village.

Once we were there, the chief bowed his head to us and said, "Thank you for agreeing to help our demi human race."

I was surprised to see this, but then I said, "This is what we should do, there’s no need to thank us like this."

The chief still kept his head down as he said, "Still, I must thank you on behalf of my people."

After this awkward interaction, the chief allowed the rest of the village to enter to greet us.

During this time, there were quite a few demi human girls that came over to my side and started asking me all kinds of questions. Even though we were from different races, it seemed that my appearance was to their taste.

Which was why they surrounded me instead of the others.

"Pet me."

I was caught off guard when I heard one of them say this, but it seemed like this wasn’t a bad thing when it came to the demi human society. It even seemed like they were waiting for me to pet this demi human girl who had asked for this.

It was a little girl, so it wasn’t as if it was anything lewd...

So with everyone watching, I had no choice but to do it.

Soft...

That was the only thing that I could think when I petted her on the head.

"Prr." It seemed that she liked it too with the sound that she made.

Once I started petting one of them, it seemed like the others wanted the same.

Only I couldn’t pet all of them.

Or at least I couldn’t do it with the ones that were fully grown or else it would have created a very strange scene. If they were young, it was fine, but if they were adults...well it would have been very strange to watch.

Still, it seemed like quite the warm welcome that we received from the demi humans.

But then again, we were here to save them and their relatives, so it was understandable.

However, this was only the scene from this side of the coast.

There was no telling what it would look like in the Mofu Mofu Kingdom.
