CHAPTER 1636: SOMETHING STRANGE IN THE AIR

"So this is the feeling of flying in the air."

I couldn’t help shaking my head with a smile on my lips when I saw what King Kashou was doing.

He had insisted on coming with us, so we had no choice but to bring him since he was the king of this Mofu Mofu Kingdom. At the same time, there was no doubt that the locals would be much more at ease seeing the king rather than seeing a bunch of people from the other races.

Though it certainly didn’t stop the impact that the wyverns had when they arrived.

Even though most of the people that lived in this place were ill, they still came out with weapons as if they were prepared to fight to the death to protect their homes.

In the end, it was King Kashou dropping down that stopped them from doing anything.

They recognized him, or rather they recognized him as a cat demi human, which was why they stopped.

Cat demi humans as I had expected were known as the royal family, though I didn’t really understand why that was the case. But regardless, it meant that being a cat demi human was enough to make the people of the Mofu Mofu Kingdom trust them.

With King Kashou calming them down, we were able to land without a problem.

As I swept my eyes across the group that was in front of us, I could see how much they were suffering from their symptoms. It was clear that they had been ill for a long time and their symptoms were quite serious.

This could be considered a good sign.

Well, it wasn’t good for the people that were suffering from the illness since they were suffering after all.

But the fact that their symptoms were this deep showed that they had been exposed to the corruption for a large period of time.

That was the only thing that could explain why they were suffering from these heavy symptoms.

After looking at them for a bit, I said, "Go and treat them."

The priests didn’t waste any time once they heard this as they went towards the demi humans.

The demi humans couldn’t help taking a step back and revealing wary looks when they saw this. However, King Kashou did his part to calm them down in the end and accept the treatment of the priests.

With the experiments that had been done, the priests were able to figure out the best method of treating these demi humans.

It was a method that used the combination of holy water and purification magic.

Though in the end, they found that since they were deeply corrupted, they had to use high grade purification magic even though they were using the holy water. It seemed that unless they did this, they really couldn’t eliminate all signs of illness in these demi humans.

I had been silently watching everything happen, so when they were forced to use their high grade purification magic, I pulled out the scarf. With a single thought, there was a mist that appeared around the area.

The demi humans were afraid when they saw this mist appear, but King Kashou was able to calm them down in the end.

The priests didn’t understand why I summoned this mist at first, but then they quickly figured it out.

What the mist did was similar to what the holy water did.

With both the holy water and the mist, they were able to purify the illness with only medium grade purification spells. That would save quite a bit of mana for them, so they would be able to cure this entire group, as well as others in their settlement.

I didn’t say anything as I continued spreading the mist around the area and observing the reaction.

Once King Kashou saw that there wouldn’t be a problem curing the demi humans, he came over to my side to ask, "What did you discover?"

I looked at him with a faint smile when I heard this, but I didn’t hide it from him as I said, "It seems like there’s something strange about the air in this place. There’s a reaction to the mist that I’m spreading."

"You can even sense that?" King Kashou couldn’t help asking in a surprised voice.

I gave a slow nod in response.

I might not have been able to do this in the past, but I could do it now that I had this divine energy inside of me. It reacted when the mist seemed to make contact with something, showing that there was indeed something in the air.

Only it wasn’t as if I could explain something like this to someone else.

King Kashou couldn’t help raising a brow to look at me after seeing this, but he didn’t bother pressing for an explanation as he asked, "Then can you sense where the source of it is?"

This time, I shook my head.

The only thing that the divine energy could sense was that there was something in this area, but it wasn’t as if I was able to pinpoint the exact location of the source. There was just too much of this strange thing in the air that it was a bit overwhelming and hard to track.

So even if I wanted to, I couldn’t find where the source of this thing was.

In the end, I just said with a sigh, "Let’s go to the town and see if we can find any more clues."

King Kashou nodded with a serious look on his face.

I knew that he was more anxious than I was to head to the town since there were more sick people that were in the town. They were his citizens, so it was only natural that he would want to cure them as soon as possible.

It was just that there really was something unsettling about this place with how there seemed to be something strange in the air.

I just couldn’t pinpoint what was strange about this place...
