CHAPTER 1637: STRANGE PATTERN ON THE GROUND
Once the priests had finished curing all of the demi humans, they didn’t waste any time in leading us to their town.
In fact, it even seemed like they were trying to rush us so we would go to their town as soon as possible.
It wasn’t hard to guess why they were like this, so we just followed them.
Though with the speed of our wyverns, we would have been able to reach their town sooner if we wanted.
Instead, I was taking the time to survey the surrounding area while sitting on the back of Joan.
I was looking closely at all the different things that were around us, but it didn’t seem like there was a single thing that was off about this place. This place seemed like any other part of the demi human territory.
It really seemed like there was nothing that was causing the strange thing that filled the air.
Once we arrived in town, the demi humans quickly went in and explained the situation to everyone that was inside. It didn’t take them long before they started bringing their families out as if they wanted us to cure them on the spot.
But with how many people lived in the town...it was hard for us to cure them all at the same time. We only had so many priests that had been brought along for this mission.
There were nowhere near enough priests to cure everyone at the same time.
The demi humans recognized this as well, so they started looking at each other as if they were about to fight with each other. It seemed like they all wanted their relatives to go first.
But before it could devolve to that.
"Everyone, we don’t have enough people to cure all of you at once, so we’re going to triage you right now. We will be putting you into groups depending on how serious your conditions are and that will determine the priority that you’ll be treated."
When I saw that there were some demi humans that were about to complain, I said, "Is this really how you want to act at this time? You have to remember that it’s not just you who is sick, the others around you are the same. You should put yourself in their shoes as well since you’ve actually been in their shoes."
Slowly, there were embarrassed looks that appeared on the faces of the demi humans as they looked at each other.
It wasn’t that they were just putting each other in each other’s shoes, it was that they were neighbours as well since they lived in this town.
They couldn’t help feeling embarrassed that they had let their emotions get the better of them instead of working together like they should.
After a while, the demi humans calmed down and even started offering to help with the triage themselves while the priests took care of the healing. It seemed that just these words alone were enough to convince them to unite during this time of crisis.
King Kashou looked at me with admiration before saying, "As expected of the Wise King of the Kite Kingdom."
A bitter smile appeared on my face when I heard this.
This nickname that they gave me, it still wasn’t something that I had approved yet...
Still, there was nothing that I could do to stop them from addressing me by this nickname.
The only thing that I had to do was release that mist, so I did just that.
Only when I used that mist to cover the entire town, the demi humans were naturally a bit scared. However, the other demi humans explained what this mist was and soon they could feel the change that came from being in this mist.
The source of their illness was being corrupted by the corruption energy and the mist helped to purify that, so it naturally made them feel better.
But that wasn’t the main reason that I released this mist.
Or at least there was no reason for me to use the mist to cover the entire town if that was what I was aiming for.
After having the mist cover the town for a bit, I suddenly went off in a certain direction.
King Kashou could see that something was off, so he followed me.
I walked for a bit before suddenly coming to a stop.
It felt like there was something that was under me, which was why I came to a stop like this. But when I looked down, I found that there wasn’t anything there under my feet.
I couldn’t help narrowing my eyes as I looked down, but there really was nothing but dirt that was under me.
This was a road that was in the center of the town and there wasn’t anything special about this road. It was a common dirt road that could be found anywhere in the Mofu Mofu Kingdom.
It was just that there was something off about this dirt road according to the divine energy inside of me.
"Is it something under the ground?" King Kashou asked from beside me.
I slowly shook my head since I wasn’t certain what it was, but I said, "Do you mind if I..."
King Kashou gave a nod in response before looking at the ground while waiting for me to do something.
Since I had received permission from the king, I pulled out the Staff of Earth.
King Kashou seemed surprised by the Staff of Earth, but he could tell that this wasn’t a normal thing. At the same time, he could tell that something big was about to happen, so he took a few steps back.
After tapping the ground, the earth itself started to separate as if it was creating a path for me.
But eventually it stopped separating.
That was because there was something that had been buried inside of the ground.
It was a single dark line that was surrounded by the dirt and it seemed to be some kind of metal.
Only I could tell that there was corruption energy that was coming from it.
