CHAPTER 871: 868: THE THIRD NIGHT (6)

Corey was extremely perplexed as to how he had not noticed that the house he was literally sitting in had been moving for so long.

Although he had not been able to use his Eyes of Omniscience and his Ears of Omniscience were severely limited to the hearing of an average Tier 3, he believed that his senses were sharp enough to notice even the slightest hint at the house moving.

And he was right.

Despite how depleted his mental energy were, his bodily senses would have sensed even the slightest movement of the house.

But the house showed no signs of movement from the inside. Absolutely none.

Despite the house moving, the inside of the house was extremely still and not even a tinge of vibration passed through the house as it moved.

There was no way Corey could have noticed the oddity because there was not meant to any oddity.

That was the specialty of the ’house’.

’Damn it.’

’I need to leave.’

Corey took a step back, and was about to smash the window but countless black eyes suddenly appeared before him.

He took several steps back in shock, and his head snapped to his left and right hand side.

The walls.

The roof.

The glass.

And the floor.

Every single part of the house was filled with black eyes that radiated an intense hunger which he could smell.

It was like a salivating beast that could not wait to pounce on its meal.

Sparks of lightning appeared on his legs and feet, but before he could even twitch a muscle, the eyes attacked.

Countless black spikes shot out of the eyes, and Corey’s eyes could only widen in shock before he was impaled on every part of his body except for his head and heart.

However, he was impaled on every other part of his body.

His hands. His arms. His legs. His feet. His chest. His stomach. His neck. And even... his manhood.

Barely three seconds had gone by after he took several steps in shock due to the appearance of the countless black eyes.

They had been too fast, precise, and ruthless with their attack, and the only reason he was not a corpse was because two of his Stars of Consciousness had forcibly moved his head out of the way of a spike and also shifted his body slightly to avoid a spike from piercing his heart.

Cough

Blood escaped his lips in copious amounts, and Corey’s gaze was shaken.

His vision was blurry and filled with blood, and he could feel his life slipping out of his fingers.

Apart from the fact that he was terribly injured, he could feel a strange energy seeping into his body.

This energy was devouring his mana and also his life force, and the more it devoured, the stronger it became.

He could feel the strength in his body leaving him as his body was slowly but visibly become lean and devoid of blood.

Yiyeyoyiyeyo

An extremely strange sound echoed in the house, and although it was horrifying and most would never be able to understand the sound.

Corey knew what it was.

He knew that it was laughter.

The house or whatever it was, was in glee and was laughing.

’Son of a bitch.’

Corey cursed inwardly, and he turned his head with visible difficulty to his right.

’And I can’t use Maledro’s Gu because they’re undergoing a metamorphosis.’

A cold light flashed in Corey’s eyes, and then his Eyes of Dreams and Nightmares switched to his Tri-Pupil Eyes.

The golden triangular pupils rotated, and a molotov appeared in front of him. However, unlike normal molotovs, what was inside the bottle was poison.

An extremely corrosive and explosive poison that could damage Tier 4s and even low-level Tier 5s.

The eyes were stunned at the appearance of the molotov, but before they could react, Corey snapped his finger.

The cloth at the mouth of the bottle caught on fire, and in the blink of an eye, it spread to the bottle itself.

BOOM!

An explosion that shook the house, and caused the windows to shatter and cracks to appear on the walls occurred in the span of two seconds.

A particular object flew from one of the windows, and this object was Corey.

A hexagon barrier surrounded his body along with an armor made out of bones, but the armor receded just as fast as it appeared.

’Damn it.’

Corey cursed once again as he tried his best to manipulate the wind around him to carry him as far away from the building.

His Tri-Pupil Eyes switched back to his Eyes of Omniscience, and he was finally able to see everything in a hundred meter radius around him.

And what he saw was not good at all.

First of all, he had solved the mystery behind the movement of the house.

The house had grown legs, and the legs were pure black... like that of a shadow.

As he observed the house, he saw the countless black eyes appearing on the exterior of the house, staring at him with fury and hunger.

He frowned.

His gaze shifted to the inverted triangle, and when he saw that there was a black eye at the center of the inverted triangle, a pondering light could not help but flash in his eyes.

’So the safe houses are no longer safe?’

Although he had a million thoughts, questions, and guesses regarding the safehouses, he pushed them all away.

The most pressing matter for him was what was directly below him.

A black lake.

A lake that was so black and dark to the point that the concept of light could not go near it.

Corey could feel his instincts warning him of the lake, and he knew that the lake was just... wrong for some reason.

It was like all the darkness and evil was in one place, and it just felt wrong even to him.

’Could that be the main source of corruption or another minor source of corruption?’
