CHAPTER 877: 874: THE THIRD NIGHT (12)

Then came the void runes whose goal was to isolate the shadows from the world and also destroy it. It was the most complex void rune he could weave, but despite him calling the rune complex, it only had eleven strokes, making it the rune with lowest number of strokes.

However, these eleven strokes were extremely complex to weave.

Each rune had to be stabilized. So he added Bindifn Runes, Runes of Anchor, Runes of Focus. And then he added multiple runes that existed only to connect the others.

Each stroke he made with his fingers carried a weight that would strain the minds of an average Tier 6, and each line that engraved unto the world was like engraving laws into existence.

Sweat ran down his face, and the air around him trembled.

Wind twisted into a cyclone around him, and the formation began to take shape in the air before him.

It was a ring. A perfect circle lined with hundreds of glowing runes rotating in slow, synchronized patterns.

And it was massive.

At its center was a flame that seemed to be made of a white golden light, and the closer the runes rotated to the center, the more they burned in a white-gold brilliance. Meanwhile, the lines that connected the runes themselves were dark grey.

The clouds above the city split. Every source of light in a hundred kilometer radius was pulled toward the magic circle before Corey, causing it to grow brighter and brighter until it was like the formation circle was the only source of light in the entire Dying City.

The pressure the spell was emitting caused the ground below to develop cracks, and flammable objects that were in a kilometer radius of the magic circle caught on fire, causing the area around Corey to become a place that was akin to the Infernal Realm or Hell.

But unlike how it was know that the Infernal Realm and Hell was a place of suffering, the flames that had engulfed an entire kilometer of the city and was spreading was not harmful to the spirits, ghosts, and corrupted monsters of the city.

Instead, it purified them and they died. However, they died with joy and relief on their faces. Even corpses that would have risen from the dead turned to ashes, and an extremely dense black mist that was filled with countless faces of varying emotions was being emitted from the burning ground.

Corey could even see the ground recoiling and screaming in pain and fury.

He took note of this.

Although the flames that had engulfed a kilometer of the Dying City was purifying the spirits, that did not mean that it was not harming things that were not spiritual, or to put in other words, physical objects.

Trees, lamp posts, chairs, benches, buildings, glass, rubbles, and several other objects burned and turned into ash or molten liquid.

If the Thirteenth Dawn were in a kilometer radius of the formation, they would be corpses by now. And their only saving grace would be that their souls and spirits would not be claimed by the power that was left behind in the Dying City.

They would die and find rest... or some form of rest at least.

Although the Thirteenth Dawn were not hurt by the spell, they could see the unfathomably large golden flames that were soaring into the sky. They were stunned, awed, full of disbelief, and most especially... they were afraid.

They wanted to leave the Trial badly.

Even Corey who was the creator of this spell was being hurt by his creation, but Dream Healing which was being used to heal the burns on his body by one of his Stars of Consciousness, made sure that he was in one piece.

The sight of Corey’s skin burning and a new one appearing was one that would scar the minds of Mortals, but Corey’s expression was unfathomably calm and deep as he showed no signs of pain.

’Well... It’s times like these I’m grateful that I have Nina who is a Nanobot and is the creator of my clothes. If I was wearing normal clothes, I would be completely naked by now.’

Although many would think that Corey’s mind would be extremely strained and he would not be able to think about any other thing due to the creation of a new spell, that was completely wrong.

He was only using about thirty five percent of his mental capabilities, and unlike the time when he was in a hyper-focused state, he could think about a lot of other things despite creating this new and powerful spell.

He exhaled softly, and he saw that the colossal shadow had stopped thrashing around.

He was not surprised by this. In fact, he had expected this, because of how powerful his new spell was.

There was no way the colossal shadow which was a Tier 6 entity would not have realized that there was an extremely dangerous threat to his life.

The colossal shadow roared, and this time around, Corey knew that its roar was different.

His precious roars had been roars of anger and frustration. This time around...

It was a roar of fear. Immense fear at the spell before it.

Its stomach suddenly bulged and released a dark glow, and countless eyes suddenly appeared on its wings and also released a dark glow.

The light travelled to its mouth, and then it released it... The most powerful shadow beam it had ever released.

Its countless eyes also released shadow beams which joined with the massive shadow beam that left its throat.

A light and calm smile appeared on Corey’s lips, and he mouthed the words to the colossal shadow despite knowing that it would never see the movement of his lips or hear what he said.

"It’s too late." He said.

And then the world spoke the name of the spell for him.

Dawnbreaker: Scripture of Solar Condemnation

The formation flared, and then it activated.
