4. [Artifact: Cloak of Tenebral]

Grade: Indigo Grade (Growth)

A rare cloak that was stitched from the silk of a dead Shadow Arachnid and the darkness from a realm where light has never existed.

Passive Effects:

- Slight increase to movement speed and evasion in dimly lit or dark environments.

- Light-based tracking abilities have reduced accuracy against you

- Constant passive shadow veil over your body when stationary

Active Effect- Shadow Phase: For six seconds, phase into any nearby shadow within a six hundred meters radius. While phased, you can pass through solid matter, avoid most physical attacks, and reposition freely via interconnected shadows.

- Cool down: 3 minutes

- Cannot phase through divine wards or radiant sanctified light

Synergy Bonus: Increases effectiveness when paired with shadow-based spells or movement skills.

The fourth reward was another item, and it was one that slightly surprised Corey.

The Cloak of Tenebral

Unlike the Dawnsplit Fang which was a Blue grade weapon, the Cloak of Tenebral was of a higher grade.

Indigo grade.

Corey could not ignore this, because his Genesis Armament was highest graded weapon, and it was also at the Indigo Grade.

Not only was the Cloak of Tenebral at the Indigo Grade, it was also a growth item.

And it had five effects, and one of them was a synergy effect.

He knew about synergy effects from items, but what is known about synergy effects is that a synergy effect was usually as a result of a set item.

Not an item synergizing with a skill or spell.

Corey had never read or heard about something like this in the Underworld, and just this effect alone made the Cloak of Tenebral worth it.

Another thing that made the worth of the Cloak of Tenebral to be high is the Shadow Phase ability.

For six seconds, he could phase into any shadow that was in a six hundred meter radius, and avoid most physical attacks.

This was a life saving ability, and Corey was certain that many people would die to have this ability alone.

However, Corey had no need for this ability.

Why?

He controlled something better.

The Void

Using the Void to teleport was better and more subtle than moving through shadows, and since Corey had this ability, he had no need to choose the Cloak of Tenebral despite its usefulness.

’Well... Unto the next I guess... A reward that is quite... disturbing.’

Corey’s eyes narrowed slightly with a pondering light flashing in them as he gazed at the fifth reward.

5. [Skill Book: Umbraweave- Art of Shadow Manipulation]

A skill Book carved with ancient runes and inscribed with teachings from a forgotten shadow-cult. It is a long lost legacy skill that grants the user foundational mastery over shadow energy when absorbed.

Core Abilities Upon Integration:

- Shadow Threads: Form and control threadlike shadow extensions for offense, defense, or manipulation.

- Shifting Veil: Blend into surrounding shadows and reduce detectability drastically.

- Umbra Grip: Project shadow limbs to bind, strike, or disarm enemies at mid-range.

NOTE: As your Tier and Affinity for shadows and shadow energy increase, more advanced techniques will unlock.

WARNING: May conflict or harmonize violently with Light or Radiance based abilities depending on your level of control and intent.

Of all the rewards that was given to him by the Universal System, this reward was the reward that disturbed him the most.

Unlike what others might think, he was not feeling happy or curious about this reward.

No.

All he felt was disturbance.

And even Corey himself was quite surprised by what he was feeling.

Umbraweave- Art of Shadow Manipulation

The first time his eyes landed on the reward, and he saw the two words- Skill Book and Shadow Manipulation, he thought that the skill book contained the skill, Shadow Manipulation.

But after reading it and going through it properly, he came to realize that the skill book was not going to grant him a Shadow Manipulation skill.

It was a book containing a legacy on how to manipulate shadows. He was also sure that the book contained knowledge on shadows and shadow energy, and all the questions he had regarding shadows and shadow energy would most likely be answered by the book.

The Universal System even listed out some of the skills that he would get from the skill book after absorbing it into his soul.

There should be no reason for him to be worried about the skill book because it was going to be another source of power for him.

But something about it just felt wrong to him.

And the reason for this was because of the words- Legacy and Shadow Cult.

Corey had no knowledge of any shadow cult and any legacy that could be involved with it. But after knowing that he was the God of Assassins, and the likelihood of him being extremely proficient and talented in using shadows and shadow energy in his past life was very high... he was wary of this skill book.

Especially when it was offered to him by the Universal System after he was nearly corrupted by the foreign shadow energy of the fragment of the Thirteenth Calamity of Virendell.

’I might be paranoid, but something about it doesn’t feel right.’

’Having this skill book would definitely give me the knowledge on how to control shadow energy, but it might also be a catalyst that would make me to awaken some of my past life’s memories, personality, or even spirit or soul.’

’I’ve never had the urge to know about my past life before, and I’m still apprehensive about me recovering my past life’s memories because it might be the trigger to awaken the soul or spirit of my past life that is most likely hidden in me.’

’If there’s an attempt to take over my current memories and personality, would I be able to win against my past life despite everything I currently possess?’

’I’m still a Mortal and my past life was a god. I can assume that because of my Cosmic Soul, Stars of Consciousness, and also massive spiritual and mental energy, I’ll be able to battle a god and win.’
