Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon
Chapter 957 - 954: Save Some Time
CHAPTER 957: 954: SAVE SOME TIME
Five minutes after the conclusion of the meeting between the members of the fifteen organizations, five figures appeared from thin air hundreds of meters away from the encampment and the border that separated the grassy plains from the region of colossal trees.
These five figures were Corey, Pamela, Kiefer, Selene, and Willow.
The expressions of Kiefer, Selene, and Willow was one of immense relief. While Pamela had a deep frown and Corey had a pondering expression.
Crossing the border was something that was not difficult for them with the vast range of abilities both Corey and Pamela had.
Although there were multiple intricate alarm mechanisms that would instantly alert the entire camp if they were found out, and also defensive mechanisms that could have caused them some damage if they had not been careful.
However, with Pamela’s absurd talent in runes and Corey’s immense talent in illusion, they were able to cross the border almost like they were in their backyard.
Pamela ensured that the formation and arrays the fifteen organizations had placed would fail to notice them and alert everybody of their presence.
And Corey’s illusion abilities made it that no one ever saw them. He didn’t use his Tri-Pupil Eyes since his eyes as a whole were still recovering. Instead, he used Infinite Mirage.
The chances of them being found out because he used Infinite Mirage was high since there were thousands of people with several talents, and one of them might have the ability to see through Infinite Mirage.
Infinite Mirage was very powerful, but compared to the illusion ability of his Tri-Pupil Eyes which not only affected one’s physical senses but even spiritual senses, the difference was a lot.
But combining InfiniteMirage with EyesofTruthandJudgement
while crossing the border made it possible for him to know the right place to pass.
He willed for his Eyes of Truth and Judgement to show him the best path to take, and he only had to follow a golden line and avoid any red spots which signified danger.
Through his Ears of Omniscience, he was able to hear the conversations of Klaus Castiel and the rest.
And it was this conversation that was making him to think deeply about his next plans.
’Hmm. Vampires, Werewolves, the Supreme Celestial Empire, the Supreme Sea Kingdom, the Temple of Flames and the remaining three Temples, the Hunter and Mage Associations, and four other strange but somewhat familiar groups?’
’... So many forces are gathered together, and I was right. Their main goal is Jeremy and his people. A big war against the Kingdom of Miracles is going to happen, and the grassy plains is definitely going to be drenched in blood.’
’But I wonder what would happen since Azimuth is presently in the grassy plains at the moment.’
’Would they still choose to engage in a war against the Kingdom of Miracles? Or would they choose another way so that the unpredictable factor which is Azimuth would be no more?’
Corey looked in the direction of the camp, and although his eyes were not back at full strength, he could still see the faint silhouettesthe guards at the border.
’Aside from that, they also mentioned something about the Silver Elves, and luckily for me, I have a little bit of knowledge about the Silver Elves from the books and scrolls of the Archive.’
’And if my knowledge is not wrong, I’ll need the Silver Elves for the future. Or to be more accurate... I’ll need their knowledge and abilities.’
Corey’s eyes flashed with a contemplating light, and then he looked away from the camp to the colossal trees.
’It seems there is one more thing I need to get in this place other than the Book of Death.’
Corey shifted his gaze to Pamela, and she sensed his gaze.
She looked at him. "What’s the problem?"
Corey raised a brow slightly. "That’s what I should be asking you. You’ve been frowning for a long time."
Pamela looked away, and then she sighed. "You saw the power of that Immortal Beast. You saw just how powerful it was even when it was severely weakened."
Pamela paused, and Corey remained silent. He waited for her to continue.
She turned and looked at the severed ridge in the far off distance.
"That was the first time I was witnessing the power of an Immortal... And to be honest, it was greater than I imagined... I felt powerless in front of it despite my talents."
She turned and looked at Corey.
"I think it’s only when I become a Tier 5 I’ll be able to battle an Immortal."
She paused once again, and Corey kept on looking at her without saying a word.
"You heard them talking about bringing an Immortal to our world or an Immortal Weapon right?"
Corey nodded slightly.
"And you’re not worried?"
Corey tilted his head slightly. "Why should I be?"
"You’ve seen the power of a weakened Immortal, and you as well as I do, know that an Immortal, a Tier 7 has the potential to destroy an entire planet. That Immortal Beast was severely weakened, and it nearly split this world fragment in two."
"What of an Immortal that is not weakened? And what of an Immortal Weapon? I’ve never seen one of those, but I know that they’re beyond the Violet Grade. And they’re said to be world ending weapons."
"This land is most likely going to become a battle of Immortals. A land where Immortals would unleash all of their powers, and most likely destroy this land. Are you not worried that an Immortal or an Immortal Weapon would end your life?"
Corey looked into Pamela’s eyes for exactly ten seconds without saying anything, and a tinge of confusion flashed in his eyes when he saw the fear that was hidden in the depths of her eyes.
"Why are you so afraid?" he asked.
"Isn’t it normal to be afraid of a battle where one has an extremely small probability of surviving?"
Corey shook his head slightly. "You’re not seeing the good part of something like this."
Pamela raised her brows in confusion.
"Sure, you can be afraid. It’s normal to be afraid. But you’re forgetting that the opportunity to obtain either the weapons or treasures of the Immortals who die is there. And also, the opportunity to obtain their corpses and use it for well... study."
"You can use it to increase your knowledge on Immortals and know more on how to defeat them."
Pamela stared at Corey like he had lost his mind. "Study their corpses? That’s what you’re thinking about right now?"
Corey shrugged lightly. "What else should I think about? Fear doesn’t change anything. Fear doesn’t win battles. Knowledge and power do."
Pamela opened her mouth to reply but then she closed it with a deep frown on her face. She rubbed her temple with a tired sigh and muttered something Corey didn’t bother to catch.
Instead, he shifted his attention back to the forest ahead. The colossal trees were like living titans, and their bark was etched with moss and faint flowing veins that pulsed as though the trees themselves had blood.
And Corey had a feeling that the trees might truly have blood. As for why he had thought, he had no idea.
From a distance, the forest looked like an impenetrable wall that was endless and alive, and Corey was slightly awed by the massive roots that was everywhere.
The air carried a faint hum, a vibration that pressed faintly against his skin, and Corey narrowed his eyes.
"This place is definitely weird," he muttered.
Pamela tilted her head, following his gaze.
"The trees?"
"No," Corey shook his head. "The land. The whole place feels... aware."
Pamela didn’t comment, but her eyes flickered with curiousity toward the towering trunks.
Behind them, Kiefer, Selene, and Willow whispered among themselves. They were still coming down from the tension of slipping past the border.
Their voices were hushed, but Corey didn’t need to listen closely to know they were talking about the Immortal Beast, about the gathering of so many powers against Jeremy Draker, and about their survival.
He tuned them out.
A faint sound brushed against his Ears of Omniscience. It was not the sound of wind or leaves, but of something softer.
It was like the sound of breathing. It was light and fragile.
’A person?’
His gaze sharpened, and in a low voice, he spoke, "Did you hear that?"
Pamela looked at him, then she tilted her head and runes flickered faintly around her ears, and her hearing ability expanded.
A second later, she froze. "Yes."
The two of them shared a look. Without needing to speak further, Corey motioned with his hand, and the others stayed behind while he and Pamela moved forward.
They stepped deeper between the massive roots, and their footsteps were muffled by the mossy ground.
As they drew nearer, the sound grew clearer, and they both realized that it was small and uneven... like someone that was asleep or hurt.
Corey parted a curtain of thick grass with his telekinesis, and Pamela’s eyes widened slightly.
"What the-" she muttered in surprise and disbelief.
Nestled between the roots of a tree, half-covered in dirt and leaves, was a little girl. Her silver hair shimmered faintly in the dim light, and her skin had the pale luster of silver. Her ears were long, delicate, unmistakable.
A Silver Elf.
Corey’s brows furrowed. "...Well," he muttered under his breath. "Looks like fate decided to save me some time."
