CHAPTER 962: 959: SIMILAR

BOOM!

The clash between Selene’s feet and the Silver Elf’s chest boomed like thunder, and arcs of lightning scattered around both of them.

Selene’s boots which were actually Indigo Grade treasures that had been engraved with formations and arrays by Pamela, glowed.

The Silver Elf’s eyes widened when he felt the power in Pamela’s feet increasing by a terrifying amount.

Previously, her kick had nearly broken his metallic ribs and also caused him to take a step back, but he withstood it.

He was a Tier 5, and she was a Tier 4. If he fell just because of a single kick from her, what would happen to his pride?

However, the moment he sensed the power in Selene’s boots increasing, he knew that he was in trouble.

"Shit."

Bang!

A blast of white lightning slammed into the Silver Elf’s body, causing him to stagger and several of his metallic ribs to shatter.

If not for his innate affinity of lightning and his innate constitution of a Silver Elf which granted him a rather high physical defense, Selene’s attack was more than enough to blast a hole through the chest of an average Tier 5.

Surprise flashed in her eyes when she saw that the Silver Elf was still in one piece.

’That took about a quarter of my mana reserves and he doesn’t seem to have taken serious injuries? He’s strong.’

Although Pamela was surprised by the little damage she did to the Silver Elf, she did not allow that to lose focus of the battle.

The Silver Elf retaliated instantly. A spear of lightning manifested in his left hand, and he thrusted it toward her as it crackled with killing intent.

Selene spun, and her body moved like water as the lightning spear missed her neck by a breath. Her counter came swift- a rising knee charged with electric force that slammed into the Elf’s jaw, sending him skidding back across the stone.

Not far off, Kiefer stood with an extremely calm expression despite the Tier 5 Silver Elf before him.

When one recalled that Kiefer was just a Tier 2, one would suddenly begin to wonder if Corey was a mad man, a cruel and indifferent master, or a confident master.

Asking a Tier 2 to battle a Tier 5 was madness, and the number of people that could do this in the entire universe was less than a percent of the universe.

Corey could do such a thing because he had the blood of the Defying Paragon in him, but Kiefer was not a Paragon.

He was a human with an extremely powerful and valuable talent. But this talent was not enough for him to give him a combat prowess of a Tier 5 as a Tier 2.

Corey knew all of these, but he still told Kiefer to fight a Tier 5.

Why?

Because Pamela had trained him, made him stronger, and more importantly... he was in his domain.

"Is this a joke? Is a Tier 2 really thinking of battling me?"

The Tier 5 Silver Elf looked at Kiefer with an expression that clearly said - "Are you messing with me?"

However, Kiefer suddenly moved. His palm slammed on the floor, and the ground trembled.

"Huh?"

The Silver Elf looked around in confusion, not understanding what was going on and clearly not taking anything Kiefer did seriously.

Kiefer’s eyes flashed, and then thick giant roots burst forth from the ground and lashed at the Silver Elf.

"What?"

The Elf’s eyes widened in disbelief, and he quickly crossed his arms as a root of one of the colossal trees around them slammed into his body with immense force.

Unlike his partner, he instantly felt his bones shatter upon impact, and a mouthful of blood left his mouth as he flew and slammed into a colossal tree.

Bang!

The Elf groaned in pain, and once again, the physical defense of the Silver Elves came into display.

If it were a normal human, death would have instantly reaped their souls.

"You bastard."

The Silver Elf snarled and his injuries began to heal at a visible pace as he slowly removed his body from the crater he had created in the bark of the tree .

Strange emerald runes began to appear on Kiefer’s body, and in less than three seconds, his entire body was covered in rune-like tattoos that was eerily similar to the Tainted in the Shattered Dimension of the Old Ones.

Corey raised a brow and glanced at Pamela who had a little smile on her face. She looked back at him and gave a shrug, and Corey narrowed his eyes before looking back at Kiefer.

’Hmm... These runes are not there to amplify his physical capabilities but his mana... His mana core. And his mental processing abilities.’

’His mana has increased by what... threefold? No. Fivefold? Nearly sixfold?... That’s insane even to me.’

’And I was wrong. I thought the runes made Kiefer’s mental capabilities to increase, but that’s not the case.’

’Instead, the runes are like AI that are doing majority of the heavy computational work for him, and this is very crucial for him.’

’No.... Both functions of the rune tattoos are very crucial to Kiefer.’

’Despite his talent, manipulating these colossal trees is not going to be easy. His mana quantity would limit him, and so would his mental capabilities. The two functions of the rune tattoos takes away that limitation, and it helps his talent to blossom to a frightening level.’

Corey subtly glanced at Pamela for a moment, and a pondering and respectful light flashed in his eyes.

’Only somebody with an extremely high talent in runes can create something like that... Hmm... I might need her in the future.’

’She’s good.’

He shifted his gaze to Kiefer, and an appreciative light flashed in his eyes.

None of them might know it, but he had been worried from the moment Kiefer stood before the Tier 5. He knew that Kiefer was not as talented as him in terms of combat, and fighting a Tier 5 as a Tier 2 was not easy at all.

So, majority of his attention has always been on Kiefer. The moment he noticed that his life was in danger, he would step in and save him.

He couldn’t lose his precious gardener no matter what.
