Skill Creation in the Fantasy World
Chapter 176: Reinforcing.
CHAPTER 176: REINFORCING.
The people at the intersection had their attention turned to the voice calling out for help from one of the tunnels.
"HELP!! SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!"
Hearing the plea for help, all of them turned serious as every trace of chatter vanished, hardening their expressions in an instant.
Keliot reacted first and commanded with his sharp voice.
"Move!! They’re under attack!", he dashed ahead without hesitation.
Forgetting their previous discussion, the group stopped whatever they were doing and hurriedly scrabbled after Keliot, their boots pounding against the hard ground.
’What’s happening?!’
Felix thought as he conjured up his map, and what he saw made his blood turn cold.
In the direction they were running, some distance away, a large number of red dots were surrounding a bunch of green dots, which were slowly flickering off one by one.
’Shit! They’re dying!!’, he screamed in his head.
Felix was shocked and in disbelief, increasing his speed using the Agility Burst skill to arrive there as fast as he could.
Dying in a dangerous war as this would’ve been normal, but when it was finally happening, he couldn’t believe it. Especially not when it was his comrades who were dying.
"What-?! Wait for us, Felix!", Roven shouted when he saw the boy sprinting like a horse.
The call for help was audible to them at the intersection, which meant the other party wasn’t that far away.
The air grew heavier the deeper he ran into the tunnel, the metallic stench of blood riding the currents before he even reached the battlefield.
Then the cries of combat came, steel clashing, monsters roaring, voices breaking in agony, every single one of which tugged at his heart.
On the map, another green dot blinked out, while before him, Felix saw firsthand a member of his guild get torn apart by a monster.
He sadly didn’t know the person’s name, but he did know the monsters that were ripping him apart.
"Fucking bladefiends!!"
The monsters surrounding his comrades in the middle were the blade-armed werewolf-like beasts, who numbered in more than a few hundred.
There were three Rank 3 of them, some Rank 2 and the rest were at Rank 1 as the cannon fodder.
Currently, the only Rank 3 Executive of this patrol party was busy getting thrashed around by all Rank 3 Bladefiends, who were literally playing around with him without a worry.
The other members of the party, at least those that remained, were huddled together in a circle that seemed to break down at any moment now under the relentless attacks of the horde of Bladefiends.
The moment Felix arrived on the battlefield and watched a person die in an ugly manner, he decided not to hold himself back anymore.
’Battlefield Awareness! Cursed Domain! Terra Drain! Parabolic Hearing!’
Activating a bunch of skills that increased his overall power to the maximum of his ability, Felix dashed ahead and jumped into the fray.
"Sinkholes! Earth Spikes! Quicksand!"
Three sinkholes were directed at the Rank 3 bladefiends, who found themselves falling into the earth as a hole swallowed them, saving the Executive who was soon about to die.
Another four sinkholes targeted the crowd of Bladefiends surrounding the humans, including several spikes that emerged in the crowd with the ground below them turning into sinking sand.
Felix crashed into the horde himself, his Superhuman Physique showing its power as every Bladefiend on his path got thrashed away under his relentless attacks.
The people huddled in the circle noticed the change around them, with the threat and number of monsters around decreasing.
The Rank 3 Executive, Morris, who was finally free from the clutches of the Rank 3 Bladefiends found himself in shock at the sudden holes in the ground that had appeared on the battlefield.
"Everyone! Reinforcements have arrived!! Hold your ground and fall back towards the rear!!", a sharp voice of a young woman echoed from the circle of people, igniting a spark of hope in their hearts.
Felix found the voice familiar, but he didn’t dwell on it.
Instead, he focused on making his way towards the front of the battlefield, where the Rank 3s were present.
He could’ve done so easily using the Earth Swimming by moving from below the bladefiends, but he chose not to, as he also wanted to reduce their numbers to lessen the pressure on the circle of people.
"There! We gotta help those people!", Keliot and the group finally arrived, following behind the path Felix had taken with the help of his map.
"He’s going that way! We’ll follow Felix!"
Roven shouted as he, Steve, Eric and Warren dashed into the gap Felix had created between the horde.
Keliot didn’t argue anything as he nodded at Nicole and Paul, before the three of them went in separate directions alone to reduce the number of monsters from the corners.
As Rank 3 beings, they had more confidence in moving alone in this horde without caring for the dangers unless they encountered more than one enemy of the same rank.
The others however, being at Rank 1 and Rank 2, couldn’t be so free and battle recklessly. So they had to stick together as a group and fight in a formation, especially against a horde as big as this.
"Hold the line, everyone! Don’t give those monsters a single gap to slip through!" the young woman commanded, her sharp gaze sweeping over the circle.
She was slowly moving the group towards the direction from where the reinforcements arrived, hoping to join them in defeating the monsters.
The horde of bladefiends on the other hand didn’t seem to care about the increase of their enemies and turned their attention to the newcomers, as battling was their inherent nature.
This lowered the pressure on the circle of people, who found lesser amount of monsters trying to break through them now.
Across the battlefield, the fiercest sight was Felix tearing through the horde, every step carving a path of chaos, not including his long-range attacks that randomly brought down some clueless Bladefiends.
Strangely, every monster within a few meters of him faltered, weakening and thrashing as if wracked by unseen agony.
Behind him, Warren and the rest of his team struggled to keep pace, their eyes wide with disbelief as Felix struck down a monster with every passing second.
There were a few Rank 2 Bladefiends that he across, but they couldn’t hold him off for more than a couple of seconds before they fell like the others too.
A few moments later, Felix arrived at the sinkholes he had created earlier to trap the Rank 3 Bladefiends.
Standing at the edge of one of the holes, he glanced down at the monster that had almost made its way up to the tunnel.
Turning around, he looked at the four who had followed him all the way here.
"Alright, that’s it for you guys.", Felix said seriously with his narrowed eyes. "You four try to go into that circle there and help those people."
"Huh? What about you?", Steve frowned, his breath dragging his voice.
Roven looked intently at Felix, who nudged towards the hole with his head and replied.
"I’m gonna deal with them. Make sure they never come back up.", Felix turned to look at Roven in the eyes and gave him a nod.
"Go."
Letting out a sigh, Roven patted Steve’s and Eric’s shoulders, who wanted to retort something to what Felix just said.
"Forget it, guys. We need to deal with the monsters first. Felix won’t be harmed, he’s... strong.", his words stunned them.
Warren remained silent throughout, already knowing the silver-haired boy’s strength from the spectacle earlier against the Grablurs.
"But-", Steve tried to complain in worry while Eric had a frown, but he was interrupted by a voice.
"Here I come!"
Turning their heads, the four of them saw Felix leaping into the sinkhole with his sword raised high.
Now, whether they moved away or not, they knew the boy couldn’t be stopped.
