Chapter 167: Skeleton Monarch
CHAPTER 167: CHAPTER 167: SKELETON MONARCH
In the castle corridor.
Kane and the others have recovered and are now in perfect shape to face the final boss.
They arrived at the splendid palace gates.
The gates leading to the Imperial Palace seemed to sense their presence, slowly opening on both sides, revealing the scene inside to everyone.
In the spacious hall, the surrounding walls were adorned with various decorations, and exquisite carved patterns were everywhere in the hall. Six massive stone pillars stood evenly on both sides.
At the end of the hall, above a nine-level staircase, was a giant, menacing throne. A huge skeleton, donned in heavy and luxurious armor and crowned with a dazzling crown, half-lay on the throne.
Ghostly blue flames ignited on the candelabras around the hall.
Potions of various colors were poured into the mouths of everyone present.
The phantom of a lion appeared on Kreya, and an aura radiated from beneath her feet, with the imprint of a lion’s paw looming over everyone’s head.
In no time at all, various enhancements appeared on everyone’s body.
They spread out and formed their formation, grasped their weapons tightly, and slowly stepped through the gates.
As Kane and the others entered the hall, the gates began to close slowly, almost as if telling them there’s still time to turn back.
Thud!
Finally, the gates shut firmly closed.
As the gates closed, the ghostly blue flames flickering throughout the hall burned even higher, elevating the brightness inside.
Energies resembling souls converged on the Skeleton Monarch’s throne, crying and wailing.
With the gather of energy, the Skeleton Monarch began trembling, the cracking sound of bones echoed from within him, and then his body floated upwards.
With the gathering complete, the Skeleton Monarch fell from the air, but landed firmly on the ground, with a giant spiked meteor hammer in his hand.
He rested the meteor hammer on his shoulder, the Soul Fire in his eyes burning intensely, staring intently at the prepared Kane and his companions.
"Another bunch of foolish beings thinking they can challenge me."
As soon as he finished speaking, the Skeleton Monarch suddenly vanished into the air.
In his mini-giant form, Longbei spread the Iron Wall Shield Defense and shouted around, "The king of a fallen nation, truly a lost cause."
"Courting death."
The vanished Skeleton Monarch suddenly appeared beside Longbei, swinging his meteor hammer towards him.
From the color of the Soul Fire in his eyes, it was clear Longbei hadn’t taunted him, just hit a sore spot with his words.
Longbei immediately sensed the Skeleton Monarch nearby, turned his shield, and blocked the vengeful strike.
The force of the attack rippled through the energy shield on Longbei’s shield, pushing him back a few steps until he steadied himself.
The strike wasn’t just pure force but also contained wisps of pale green energy that seeped into Longbei’s body, leaving him looking slightly pale.
A white potion bottle floating beside Longbei suddenly inverted, and milky white energy flowed into him, mitigating the damage from the invasive energy.
A golden Light Blade slashed at the Skeleton Monarch’s shoulder from behind.
Several Holy Light-infused bullets simultaneously shot towards him, and rainbow stars appeared above his head.
Facing attacks from all sides, the Skeleton Monarch remained unfazed, then vanished into thin air again, leaving all attacks to hit nothing but air.
When the Skeleton Monarch reappeared, he was behind Meizike, the massive meteor hammer rushing towards his back with a gust of wind.
A pair of white energy wings appeared on Meizike’s back, lifting him away from danger.
Though the hammer missed, its accompanying energy still quickly chased after Meizike.
A prism-like shield manifested in the energy’s path, blocking the attack, a skill embedded in Longbei’s bracelet.
Before Kane and the others could attack, the Skeleton Monarch vanished into the air once more.
"This won’t do, we need to hold him in place."
An aura began to appear behind Kane’s head, golden light radiated from his body, while white energy-infused Spider Silk shot in various directions around the hall.
The Spider Silk couldn’t weave into a web, but it should be enough to restrict movement.
However, contrary to expectations, the Skeleton Monarch continuously appeared from various points, launching attacks at everyone, and disappearing again before they could counterattack.
Everyone was now marked with injuries.
To the Skeleton Monarch, the Spider Silk was non-existent. He wasn’t simply going invisible; he transformed into something that could penetrate such barriers.
Though brutish in appearance, the Skeleton Monarch attacked with caution, striking each person once and disappearing whether he hit or missed.
Realizing this, Kane suddenly canceled his Divine Form, the aura and light disappearing into the air.
As expected.
When the form was released, the Skeleton Monarch immediately appeared beside Kane.
The giant meteor hammer, tangled in pale green energy, pressed down on Kane, striking him solidly and sending him crashing into a stone pillar not far away.
This time, the Skeleton Monarch didn’t disappear straight away, instead curiously tugged at the meteor hammer before disappearing again.
Lying on the ground, Kane couldn’t help but cough up fresh blood.
Kreya and the others hesitated for a moment, then frantically rushed towards Kane, shouting, "Get away, quickly!"
Because the Skeleton Monarch appeared once more beside Kane, ready this time to end the life of the insignificant insect.
With both hands on his meteor hammer, he swung it down mercilessly at the prone Kane.
Thud!
A sound of metal clashing echoed, the hammer halted above Kane, striking emptiness, the familiar sensation similar to striking Kane just moments ago.
A pale figure passed through the Skeleton Monarch’s body, the Light Blade slashing at his waist.
Realizing he’d been tricked, as the Skeleton Monarch attempted to vanish again, he could not; something pinned his body in place.
Kane floated before the Skeleton Monarch, his expression no longer those of someone at death’s door.
The halo appeared again behind him.
The light covering Kane flowed outward, extending to cover a transparent exoskeleton he’d crafted.
A towering mechanical humanoid armor over three meters high stood before everyone, gleaming with golden light.
Its massive hand gripping the Skeleton Monarch’s body.
As the light appeared on the mechanical hand, a faint black smoke emerged from the Skeleton Monarch.
