CHAPTER 55: CHAPTER 55 BEASTMAN

On the boundless grassland

The sky remained bright, yet the sun was nowhere to be seen.

The Kane Squad hid behind a small hill, eyes fixed on the scene below.

"There are two more squads around here; trying to silently take out this one below is a bit unrealistic."

Longbei also glanced down, "Then let’s quickly deal with the group below. With our speed, we should be able to wipe them out before the others arrive."

Kane thought for a moment. Indeed, it was feasible since the squad below only had 7 people.

He nodded slightly, giving the signal to move.

Then immediately rose, quickly drew his bow, and shot three arrows.

Kane’s attack went unnoticed, and three Beastmen fell unsuspectingly.

Seeing their comrades fall, the other Beastmen quickly drew their weapons, scanning the surroundings.

As they spotted the enemy, Kleya had already charged down the slope.

Longbei followed behind, charging down.

The newly formed formation was immediately disrupted by the Centaur, knocking one down in the process.

Longbei also rushed in, crouching and sweeping with his Long Halberd in a circular motion.

Several Beastmen were knocked to the ground; looking at their leg wounds, it seemed unlikely they could stand.

The other two Beastmen, outside Longbei’s attack range, raised their axes to strike his back.

Before they could bring them down, a bloody hole appeared on their heads.

Two distant Beastman squads hurried over, one 7-man squad rushing towards Kane and Meizike on the hill.

The other 8-man squad chased after the Centaur.

Longbei quickly killed the downed Beastmen.

"Roar!"

With a loud roar, he turned into a small Giant over two meters tall, with his red beard turning into flames.

"You green-skinned paupers, hurry over and beg grandpa for a Blessing."

The soundwave spread out, and the two squads suddenly turned, rushing towards Longbei.

The eyes of these Beastmen were fixed on Longbei, filled with hatred, as if he were a mortal enemy.

Seeing Longbei’s taunt work, Kane shot a mass of Spider Silk, aiming to trap some of them; otherwise, it would be challenging to handle if they bunched up.

Meizike also tossed a bottle of Dense Spirit towards Longbei, forming a tawny film on his body.

Kane rained arrows on the Beastmen below, who wouldn’t dodge; instead, they crowded together, blocking each other’s arrows.

Kreya brandished her Lance, charging back and forth among the group, easing Longbei’s pressure slightly with each charge.

"Watch out"

Kane suddenly sensed something amiss, immediately shooting a line of Spider Silk at Meizike, pulling him towards himself.

A pair of daggers sliced down from the Void, still grazing Meizike’s robe.

Grabbing his Long Spear from his back, Kane swiftly stabbed towards the spot where the daggers appeared in the air.

But before he could hit, a chill crept up his back, and he dodged his neck as best he could.

Yet, the daggers pierced through Kane’s transparent Armor, stabbing into his shoulder.

Why was it the shoulder again?

There was no time to ponder, and without retracting his Long Spear, he continued stabbing forward.

A sensation of flesh was felt, and a smaller female Beastman emerged, clad in a black robe and holding dual daggers.

Withdrawing the Long Spear already piercing her chest, he swept his spear backward, sending the Beastman behind him flying.

The airborne Beastman was suddenly impaled by a Long Spear, the immense force propelling her to a distance and pinning her into the ground.

It turned out Kleya had noticed the situation with Kane and threw the Long Spear she had earlier acquired.

This spear’s substantial power instantly took down the Beastman.

In retrospect

No wonder there were 7 members in each squad; it turned out there was a Thief hiding in the shadows.

Continuing to clear the remaining Beastmen,

Once the Beastmen couldn’t deal with Longbei promptly, their fate was sealed.

Before long, with Kane’s squad’s cooperation, all the remaining Beastmen were eradicated.

Kane took Meizike down.

Upon reunion, Kane noticed a discomfort in his body.

Immediately crouching down

"Kane"

Seeing Kane crouch, Kleya hurried over, uncovering his shoulder’s garment.

Though the shoulder wound was minor, the surrounding skin had discolored, slightly cyan purple.

It was evident that the Beastman Thief’s dagger was poisoned.

Meizike approached, extracting a small knife and a green Potion from his belt.

Before proceeding, he reminded Kane, "Brace yourself."

He then cut the wound open, rinsed with water, and poured half of the green Potion onto it.

Handing the other half to Kane, "Drink it."

Kane didn’t hesitate, drinking it immediately.

Seeing the treatment complete, Kleya quickly bandaged Kane’s shoulder with gauze.

Meizike lifted his small knife, sniffing the bloodstains.

Then said to Kane, "It’s okay."

Hearing his comrade’s words, Kane felt relieved.

Looking over at Kleya and Longbei, both their Armors bore numerous blade marks.

While the Beastmen didn’t inflict any severe injuries, they had received quite a few scraping cuts.

Meizike took out a bottle of Healing Particles, scattering it towards everyone.

The red particles split into four distinct portions, seeping into everyone’s bodies, including his own.

Observing his comrades, with slight exhaustion on their faces.

"Let’s rest here for a while. The recent battle drained a lot of Physical Strength."

Hearing Kane’s words, everyone promptly sat down where they were.

"Thank you," Meizike suddenly said to Kane.

"It’s nothing; we’re comrades after all."

In this situation, Kane was partly to blame, having overly relied on his Eagle Eye.

The black robes on the two Beastman Thieves likely had anti-detection properties.

The most crucial aspect was the Dungeon enhancing their stealth, showcasing a clever tactic, alas foolish as it sometimes may seem.

Many Explorers had fallen to them, for the Dungeon wasn’t a fool; it learned, though at times, it might lack brilliance.

Yet when it was, it could spell disaster for Explorers.

Time ticked forward a step

After resting, the group resumed their exploration.

After only a few miles, they encountered two more squads of Beastmen.

There wasn’t any hesitation, and having pinpointed an opportunity, Kane’s squad charged directly at them.

This time, without Thieves, Kane’s team dealt with the Beastmen relatively easily.

And up ahead, they finally saw a Beastman structure.

It was a camp constructed with wood and torn cloth.

Kane used his Eagle Eye to peer inside, detecting only a small amount of Magic Power reaction, yet several reactions were notably stronger than that of the patrolling figures.

He shared the observations with his teammates.

Kreya pondered and said, "Our mission is to annihilate all Beastmen, right?"

"Yeah."

"But we’ve been moving straight through."

Kane nodded, understanding Kreya’s implication. He then stated, "This level of the Dungeon is vast; undoubtedly, there are more Beastmen around the camp."

"So, we’re not attacking the camp yet?" Longbei asked, looking at the camp.

"Correct," Kane observed the distance, "First, we’ll circle the camp, advancing outward, purging all Beastmen outside the camp.

Who knows if, when attacking the camp, those Beastmen will return; if they do, we’d be in deep trouble."

Everyone nodded, agreeing with Kane’s proposal.

The team left the vicinity of the camp, starting to sweep outward in circles, encircling the camp.
